Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Left Unresolved

Lin Yun and Tang Wushuang were pulled apart, their hearts filled with boundless killing intent. However, in the presence of several Primordial Ocean Realm experts, the two were utterly helpless.

Immediately after, Lin Yun left with Zhong Lin, while Tang Wushuang was escorted by another Primordial Ocean Realm expert to the Dean’s office. With that, the chaotic brawl between the two pairs of master and disciple came to an end.

Returning to the Bamboo Garden where Zhong Lin lived, which was now also Lin Yun’s residence. For decades, Zhong Lin had not taken a single student, only accepting Lin Yun now. As a result, Lin Yun was free to choose whichever room he wanted.

He took a long, comfortable bath. As expected, the conditions outside were far better than on Celestial Net Peak. After changing into the purple robes of a Genius Class student, a refreshed Lin Yun walked out of his room.

”Lin Yun, come here.” Zhong Lin, who was drinking tea in the bamboo pavilion, called out softly when he saw Lin Yun. Beside him, Elder Bai was also grinning as he stared at Lin Yun, looking for all the world like a mischievous old man.

”Haha, Old Zhong, this disciple of yours is quite a handful! To think he could drive Tang Wushuang to a mental breakdown. He’s still with the Dean receiving treatment,” Elder Bai boomed with laughter the moment he saw Lin Yun.

Hearing this, Zhong Lin said nothing, merely offering a faint smile. Lin Yun, however, scratched his head in embarrassment, putting on an expression that said, ’I’m innocent.’

”Sit,” Zhong Lin said faintly.

Doing as he was told, Lin Yun sat down and respectfully poured tea for the two elders. Then, he simply waited for them to continue.

”Lin Yun, tell us, how did you manage to get Tang Wushuang into such a state?” Elder Bai asked, a crafty look on his face.

”Er... well... it was nothing, really. There were just a few mischievous students on Celestial Net Peak. They might have played a prank on Tang Wushuang,” Lin Yun said.

Elder Bai didn’t react much to Lin Yun’s answer, but Zhong Lin feigned anger and said, ”You’re messing around! We are all fellow disciples. How could you torment him like that? And now look, he’s gone and reported it to the Dean.”

Hearing Zhong Lin’s reprimand, Lin Yun defended himself in a low voice, ”How is that my fault? We already had an irreconcilable conflict. His skills were inferior, yet he has the gall to play the victim and complain first?”

”What did you say?” Zhong Lin bellowed.

”Alright, alright, Old Zhong. You’re just being two-faced. You’re blooming with joy on the inside but still feel the need to scold Lin Yun. Aren’t you happy? This time, Lin Yun has brought you a great deal of honor,” Elder Bai said, chuckling as he tried to placate him.

As soon as he said that, Zhong Lin could no longer keep up his stern facade. The anger on his face melted into a smile. Indeed, Lin Yun had truly brought him honor this time. His one and only disciple... Everyone was now saying that he, Zhong Lin, had struck gold. To have such a student to inherit his legacy was a great blessing.

”You little brat, always causing trouble for me. But I’ll admit, overpowering Tang Wushuang this time has brought this old man some face,” Zhong Lin said, chiding him with a smile.

What followed was casual conversation. During this time, Zhong Lin and Elder Bai naturally asked Lin Yun why he was able to break through multiple times on Celestial Net Peak. To be safe, Lin Yun just made up a reason to fudge the question.

The dramatic day passed just like that. After a quiet night, the Dean once again summoned all the Academy’s experts to the Main Hall for a meeting the next day. The topic, naturally, was the brawl between the four in the Punishment Hall, as well as the theft of the three Space Rings belonging to Lin Yun and the others.

Everyone took their seats. After a day to cool down, coupled with the Dean’s treatment, Tang Wushuang and his master’s emotions were clearly under control. However, the two of them still wore cold, unapproachable expressions.

This was especially true for Tang Wushuang. When he saw Lin Yun, the killing intent in his eyes erupted without reservation. If not for the inappropriate venue, the two would have likely started fighting again.

With the many experts seated, Lin Yun and Tang Wushuang, as the involved parties, stood in the center of the hall. The Dean swept his gaze across the room and was the first to speak. ”I presume everyone is aware of what happened yesterday?”

”How absurd! As some of the most powerful experts in the Academy, you actually led the charge in breaking the rules! Daring to brawl in the Punishment Hall, even attempting to destroy it! Tell me, how should this matter be handled?” the Dean scolded angrily.

At his words, everyone remained silent. It wasn’t their business, so none of them wanted to get involved and draw fire.

”As one of the parties involved, you speak.” Seeing that no one was talking, the Dean looked at Tang Wushuang’s master and snapped.

”Your Excellency, the Dean, I was indeed too impulsive in this matter, but I had my reasons. Before entering Celestial Net Peak, my student and I handed over our Space Rings to the Punishment Hall for safekeeping, as per the rules. Who would have thought they would be stolen? More than half of my wealth was in there...” Tang Wushuang’s master explained.

”Speaking of which, this is the first time since the Academy’s founding that something kept in the Punishment Hall has been stolen. Elder Zhong, what are your thoughts on this matter?” the Dean asked, turning to Zhong Lin.

”Your Excellency, the Dean, this is the first time such an incident has occurred. My Punishment Hall did not anticipate it. However, there is one thing I, Zhong Lin, can guarantee with my life: it was definitely not done by anyone from my Punishment Hall.”

”Furthermore, it was outrageous for Tang Wushuang and his master to use this as an excuse to cause a huge scene in my Punishment Hall. My student Lin Yun’s Space Ring was also stolen, so both sides are victims here.”

Regarding the theft of the Space Rings, no one suspected Lin Yun. After all, he was on Celestial Net Peak at the time and had no opportunity to commit the crime. Besides, no one could have imagined that Little Ape possessed such an ability.

The whole affair was essentially a farce. After a series of discussions, it was ultimately decided that neither Tang Wushuang and his master nor Lin Yun and his master would be punished. The focus of everyone’s consideration shifted to the matter of the stolen Space Rings.

Since this was the first time something like this had happened, a thorough investigation was a certainty. Zhong Lin was put in charge, tasked with rigorously interrogating every Steward, student, and even Elder who had entered the Punishment Hall in the last six months.

Listening to the experts’ decision, Lin Yun laughed to himself. ’The Space Rings are right here on me, but who would ever guess?’

In the end, Lin Yun walked out of the Main Hall behind Zhong Lin. For him, the matter had simply fizzled out. As for the Space Rings, he was confident they could investigate for a lifetime and never find out the truth.

”Hmph. Lin Yun, one day I will kill you. You’d better watch your back,” Tang Wushuang said, his face thick with killing intent, as he walked past Lin Yun at the entrance to the Main Hall.

”All talk. You’d better be careful in the future, too. Don’t let me catch you outside, or I’ll definitely kill you too,” Lin Yun retorted.

The two of them now acted as if they had a blood feud. Whenever they met, rage would naturally well up inside them, impossible to suppress.

If the circumstances ever permitted, there was no doubt they would attack each other at the first opportunity, using every means at their disposal to kill the other.
