Chapter 111: Chapter 111: Class Assignment

To say he wasn’t angry about being set up would be a lie. However, Lin Yun was well aware that he couldn’t confront Tang Wushuang head-on. Exposing his identity now wouldn’t be worth it.

After a quiet night, Lin Yun and his two companions arrived unhurriedly at the Academy’s main plaza, which was already packed with people.

”Look... Ten people actually made it into the Genius Class this year.”

”Looks like this year’s new students have high Combat Power. In past years, it was already considered good if three or four people made it into the Genius Class.”

”Didn’t you see? Of the ten people this year, two are from the direct line of the Royal Family and four are from branch families. If you ask me, it’s not a matter of strength, but just that there are too many people from the Royal Family.”

Many students were chattering amongst themselves. Although it was impossible for them to enter the Genius Class, that didn’t stop them from feeling a sense of longing and envy toward it.

After finally squeezing their way to the front of the announcement board, Lin Yun found Lan Xi’s name among the ten written in gold.

”Lan Xi...”

Besides Lan Xi, the names of Qin Feng and Li Tian were also shining with a golden light. This meant that they too had been noticed by some Primordial Ocean Realm expert and had become students of the Academy’s Genius Class.

Aside from the ten Genius Class students, there was another name on the announcement board that drew a lot of attention: Lin Shan, ranked dead last.

The announcement board listed not only the assigned class but also each person’s test score. And Lin Yun’s score of three breaths made him the worst in the Academy’s entire history.

”Holy crap, three breaths? How did this kid even pass the Trial Road? Must’ve been a fluke.”

”Who knows? But with that kind of strength, he won’t last long in the Academy. At most, he’ll be forced to pack up and leave in disgrace within ten years.”

”Haha, Lin Shan. I’d really like to meet him.”

The mocking jeers from the crowd were incessant. Lin Yun didn’t seem to mind, but Qin Feng, standing beside him, looked increasingly grim, his face darkening with anger.

”Get lost!” Qin Feng roared at the crowd. ”Is Brother Lin someone you’re qualified to talk about? A bunch of useless trash.”

Qin Feng’s furious shout drew many eyes to him. The students from his own batch naturally knew who he was, but none of the senior students had ever seen him before. Several of them now yelled back.

”What did you say, kid?”

”He’s sticking up for that piece of trash. He must be Lin Shan’s friend.”

”A friend of a piece of trash must be trash himself. Birds of a feather, I guess.”

The crowd’s taunts made Qin Feng even more furious. Ripples of Elemental Power began to emanate from his body. At that moment, Lin Yun, who had been silent all this time, reached out and clapped him on the shoulder.

”Don’t stoop to their level,” Lin Yun said softly. ”Besides, fighting is forbidden within the Academy. We can’t break the rules.”

At Lin Yun’s advice, Qin Feng gradually reined in his aura. In the end, he followed Lin Yun away from the main plaza.

”Hey, kid, go tell your trash friend that if I were him, I’d just drop out!”

”Yeah, three breaths... even a beast would last longer than that! Haha, what a disgrace!”

Watching the three of them leave, the senior students from before continued to taunt them. Hearing these vile insults, Lin Yun suddenly spun around, his eyes terrifyingly cold.

Lin Yun’s action made the jeering students fall silent instantly. An extreme, icy feeling emanated from him, and a faint, almost imperceptible killing intent made their hearts skip a beat.

”I’m the one who only lasted for three breaths,” he said icily. ”As for who the real trash is... time will tell.” He turned and left after speaking.

Only after Lin Yun’s figure had disappeared from the main plaza did these students let out a collective sigh of relief. The feeling just now was as if they had been targeted by a peerless, ferocious beast, causing them to shut their mouths almost instinctively while a thread of fear sprouted in their hearts.

”Damn it! A piece of trash... just you watch, I’ll mess him up later.”

”Yeah, we have to mess that kid up. Yanhuang Academy isn’t a place for just anyone.”

With Lin Yun gone, these students recalled what had just happened and felt deeply humiliated. One by one, they began to curse him, vowing in various ways to ”mess him up.”

Back in the courtyard, the class assignments were finalized, meaning the three of them would have to separate. Li Tian didn’t say much about it, but Qin Feng was extremely agitated.

”Brother Lin, how can you let this slide?! Are you really just going to let them frame you like this? I’m a Genius Class student now, I’ll go talk to the teachers...” Qin Feng stared at Lin Yun, practically shouting.

”That’s enough, Qin Feng. I know you mean well, but we’ve just entered the Academy. Let’s wait on this for now. I’m happy for you that you got into the Genius Class. You absolutely can’t act on impulse, understand?” Lin Yun said.

At this, Qin Feng could only give up on the idea of seeking justice for Lin Yun. The three of them had been sitting in the courtyard for less than an hour when two young men in purple robes walked in.

Ignoring Lin Yun, the two didn’t even spare him a glance. Their gazes fell directly on Qin Feng and Li Tian.

”Qin Feng? Li Tian?” one of them asked.

Hearing this, the two nodded.

After getting confirmation from Qin Feng and Li Tian, the two Genius Class students stated their purpose directly.

”You two are now students of the Genius Class. Pack your things and come with us. The teacher is already waiting for you.”

Hearing this, both Qin Feng and Li Tian looked toward Lin Yun. Seeing their expressions, Lin Yun smiled and said, ”Go on. We’re all in the same Academy, there will be plenty of chances to see each other later.”

Only after Lin Yun’s words did the two return to their rooms to start packing.

”’Plenty of chances?’” one of the purple-robed youths said to Lin Yun with contempt while the other two were packing. ”From now on, the two of them will be in a different world from you. The gap between the Genius Class and the General Class is as wide as the gap between heaven and earth.”

Lin Yun didn’t say anything in response. ’I can’t just go around all day shouting that I was framed, can I?’ Besides, with his personality, even if he was wronged and set up, he would only ever rely on himself to get his own back. Complaining to others was not in his nature.

A quarter of an hour later, Qin Feng and Li Tian left as Lin Yun watched them go. As they were leaving, both told Lin Yun to find them if he ran into any trouble, since becoming a Genius Class student came with quite a few special privileges.

Lin Yun nodded. Looking back with every few steps, Qin Feng and Li Tian followed the two Genius Class students out of the courtyard.

Once they were gone, Lin Yun was alone again. As more students returned to the courtyard to await their class assignments, many who didn’t know him shot him looks of mockery and contempt, seeing only the ”trash” who had lasted a mere three breaths.

Next, students from the Elite Class came and led away those assigned to their class. Afterward, students from the Small Class did the same.

As for those in the General Class, they were the most numerous. In the end, nearly seven hundred students remained. They were divided into seven classes and led by seven Qi Sea Realm teachers to the General Class area.
