Chapter 113: Chapter 113: The Ordinary Class Challenges the Genius Class

Seeing that the three had not emerged from Lin Yun’s room for a long time, the teacher who had been hiding in the shadows felt something was amiss. He promptly dropped his cover, walked up to Lin Yun’s room, and knocked on the door.

”Who is it?” Lin Yun called out loudly upon hearing the knock.

”I’m your class teacher. I heard some noise in your room just now. Open the door and let me see,” the teacher outside replied.

’The main event has arrived.’ Lin Yun silently looked at the three men, their faces black and blue. From his gaze, they understood his unspoken question: they knew what to say, didn’t they?

The three nodded furiously. Seeing this, Lin Yun gave a slight smile and walked over to open the door.

When the door opened, the teacher’s expression was none too pleasant. Without a word to Lin Yun, he walked straight into the room. Upon seeing the three bruised and battered men, a cold smirk flashed across the teacher’s face, which he quickly masked with a righteous front as he turned to question Lin Yun.

”Lin Shan, why did you beat up others for no reason? Do you not know the Academy’s rules?”

Hearing the teacher’s accusation, Lin Yun showed no sign of fear. Instead, a wicked smile played on his lips. ”Teacher, what makes you so certain I’m the one who beat them?”

”Hmph. If you didn’t, are you suggesting they just fell and ended up like this on their own?”

The teacher was inwardly ecstatic. ’Good thing I was quick-witted, otherwise Lin Yun would have gotten away with it today.’ Now, with both witnesses and physical evidence present, the lightest punishment Lin Yun could expect was a reprimand from the Punishment Hall.

However, the teacher’s joy was short-lived. The three students scrambled over each other to speak to him. ”Teacher, we fell on our own! It wasn’t Junior Brother Lin Shan... I mean, Brother Lin Shan who hit us.”

Hearing this, the teacher’s face changed. His eyes, now burning with anger, fixed on the three as he said coldly, ”Do you know that lying to an Academy teacher is grounds for expulsion?”

The teacher’s threat was clearly less effective than Lin Yun’s. The three replied almost without hesitation, ”Teacher, we aren’t lying to you. We really did fall on our own.”

Watching the three men frantically defend him, and then looking at the teacher’s face, which had grown long enough to resemble a horse’s, Lin Yun said with a smile, ”Teacher, the facts are now crystal clear. Not only did I not hit them, but I also helped treat their injuries. Don’t you think I deserve some praise?”

It was unclear what method Lin Yun had used to make the three so terrified of him, but the situation was obvious. Since they refused to admit Lin Yun had laid a hand on them, there was no way to frame him, no matter how much one wanted to.

”Ah, Lin Shan, it seems I’ve misunderstood you. You’ve done well. Your teacher has high hopes for you. I have some other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now.” Forcing an ugly smile, the teacher spoke his piece and hurriedly left the room.

Once the teacher was gone, Lin Yun’s expression turned cold as he looked at the three men. ”Still here? Or are you waiting for me to give you a parting gift?”

At his words, the three ignored the pain in their bodies and scrambled towards the door. Just as they reached the doorway, Lin Yun called out and stopped them.

”If Yue Xiuchuan looks for you again, remember to come and tell me. If I find out you’ve hidden it from me or are plotting revenge, I’m sure you know the consequences.”

”Yes, yes, of course, Brother Lin Shan! From now on, we’re at your command! If Yue Xiuchuan contacts us, we’ll inform you immediately!” the three replied, bobbing their heads like chickens pecking at grain.

”Good. Now go.”

For Lin Yun, this incident wasn’t even a threat; it was a farce at best. But as the old saying goes, it’s not the thief you fear, but being targeted by one.

Constantly having a couple of petty schemers watching you was never a good thing, and passively taking hits was not in Lin Yun’s nature.

’Tang Wushuang, since you want to play dirty, don’t blame me for what comes next.’ The wicked smile on Lin Yun’s face deepened.

「The next day.」

Explosive news spread, originating from a man named Lin Shan in the regular class district.

He had hung a banner outside his own dormitory. On it was written, ”Tang Wushuang! It is better to destroy ten temples than to break one marriage! I, Lin Shan, and Lu Bingning are truly in love. You want to steal my beloved, so I challenge you to a life-and-death battle!”

Looking at the words on the banner, everyone thought this Lin Shan must be a madman.

Who was Lu Bingning? A Genius Class student, beautiful as a celestial fairy. She and Lan Xi had been hailed as the two great beauties of Yanhuang Academy from the moment they enrolled.

And who was this Tang Wushuang? A member of the royal family, the Young Prince of Yunlu County, and also a student of the Genius Class. Was this Lin Shan an idiot?

The news that Lin Shan and Lu Bingning were truly in love spread through the entire Academy like wildfire, mainly because it was just too sensational.

One was a high and mighty Princess, the other a mere student from the regular class. Their statuses were worlds apart.

As the news spread further, almost every student came to know of it, and Lin Shan’s background was thoroughly dug up.

”Holy crap, he only lasted for three breaths in the placement test? And he dares say he’s in love with Miss Lu?”

”I’m going to kill this guy! He’s defiling the goddess in my heart!”

”Lin Shan, you and I can’t exist under the same sky! I challenge you to a life-and-death battle!”

As more and more details about Lin Yun’s past were exposed, the torrent of curses directed at him grew ever stronger, reaching a point where it felt like he could be drowned in saliva.

However, Lin Yun, the protagonist of this drama, paid no mind to the invectives. At that moment, he was heading towards the Academy’s Steward Hall, the place where one could apply for a life-and-death battle.

In stark contrast to Lin Yun’s composure, Tang Wushuang, over in the Genius Class, was so furious he could spit blood. He had never imagined Lin Yun would be so shameless as to publicly announce his ”relationship” with Lu Bingning and drag him into it. Now, Tang Wushuang was at the center of the storm.

”Damn it! Fine! A life-and-death battle! Lin Shan, I’ll take you on! I swear I’ll tear you to shreds!” Tang Wushuang roared in fury.

”Junior Brother, fighting him in a life-and-death battle now will bring you no benefits,” said a youth also dressed in purple, hearing Tang Wushuang’s roar. He was Tang Wushuang’s senior brother, a student from the previous Genius Class.

”Why?” Tang Wushuang demanded, his heart burning with a rage so intense he wanted to rush to Lin Yun and hack him to pieces right then and there.

”You are a Genius Class student, while that Lin Shan is merely in the regular class. If you fight him in a life-and-death battle, there is no glory in winning. If you lose, people might start to question your status as a Genius Class student. Furthermore, you are already at the center of this storm. Once you agree to the battle, even as a Young Prince, you will be under the watchful eyes of so many. If you were to be killed, nothing could be done about it.”

Hearing his senior brother’s words, Tang Wushuang’s anger, instead of subsiding, grew even stronger. With this one move, Lin Yun had pushed him into a dilemma.

Fighting was a problem, and not fighting was also a problem. If he fought, Lin Yun’s true strength was an unknown; even he wasn’t a hundred percent confident of victory. If he didn’t fight, he would lose all face.

”Damn it! Lin Shan, I, Tang Wushuang, swear this world isn’t big enough for the both of us! There can be only one! I will never rest until one of us is dead!” With a single palm strike, Tang Wushuang shattered the chair he was sitting on, then stalked out of the room alone. He needed to cool down.
