Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Zhong Qin patted the little guy’s head and smiled, ”Xiaowei, you’ll understand when you get a chance to visit Qinghai.”

”Oh!”

The little guy squeaked in frustration, thinking why had grandma also become like Huo Jinnan, speaking so vaguely!

He rubbed the regiment commander who was leaning against him and looked at Che Huan, ”Huanhuan...”

Zhong Qin looked at the little guy seriously, ”Why are you still calling Huanhuan? You should start calling her ’mom’ from now on.”

”...”

The little guy glanced at Che Huan. Huanhuan must also really want to hear him call her ’mom,’ right? But he was used to calling her Huanhuan and felt he couldn’t get the word ’mom’ out.!

Huo Jinnan cast a glance at the little guy, ”Your allowance will be halved from now on.”

The little guy frowned, holding a grudge as he looked towards Huo Jinnan. How could Huo Jinnan do this to him? To take away his red packet and cut his allowance, it was so unfair.

Huo Jinnan glanced at him, ”Do you still need that much money for expenses?”

”...”

The little guy didn’t respond. Originally, it was for courting his girlfriend that he had applied for funding. Now that his girlfriend had become ’mom,’ shouldn’t he at least get some comfort for his wounded heart?

Humph, Huo Jinnan had given him the raise in his allowance, not for his sake, but definitely for Huanhuan’s!

Huo Jinnan took his gaze back, and it landed on Huo Jinxue, ”I’ve already paid for the car, you can drive it with ease from now on, just consider it a birthday gift from your second brother.”

At this, Huo Jinxue immediately perked up, ”Second brother, really?”

Huo Jinnan didn’t respond.

Huo Jinbei looked at Huo Jinxue, ”What are you saying? When has second brother ever gone back on his word?”

Thinking of the recent flood of pictures and videos online, Huo Jinxue stood up and gave Huo Jinnan a military salute, ”Thank you, second brother.”

”Your sister-in-law also got you a gift.”

As Huo Jinnan’s voice faded, he looked behind him. Huo Bei came in holding a white box, placing it on the coffee table.

Huo Jinxue’s eyes lit up upon seeing it. She had had her eye on this laptop for a long time, perfect for her major—drafting—but unfortunately, she had never had the money to buy it!

Looking up at Che Huan, she gave her a military salute too, ”Thank you, sister-in-law!”

The little guy had originally planned to have Huo Jinnan give his aunt a red packet to take back his losses but seeing the situation, there was no chance! His spirits deflated a bit!

...

After celebrating Huo Jinxue’s birthday, Zhong Qin pulled Huo Jinnan aside, ”Anan, what’s with those reports online?”

”...”

Huo Jinnan didn’t respond, lighting a cigarette.

Zhong Qin sighed, ”Too much is as bad as too little, you know that. If this continues, there will probably be criticism later on. After all, earthquake relief is a soldier’s duty. Once everyone realizes you’re not a soldier, they might change their tune, say more varied and even nastier things – that’s the so-called ’fear of public opinion’.”

Huo Jinnan took a drag on his cigarette, ”Yeah, I know, I’ll handle it.”

Zhong Qin’s mood darkened, ”Your grandfather still hasn’t given up on wanting you to return to the military, has he?”

Huo Jinnan stood there, his silhouette enshrouded in the light, ”Yeah.”

Zhong Qin looked at Huo Jinnan, ”So what are you planning to do?”

Huo Jinnan’s expression turned cold, his thin lips sharp as knives, ”I won’t go back.”

Zhong Qin sighed deeply, looking at Huo Jinnan, ”Anan, if you really...”

”Mom, I really don’t want to go back. I’m very satisfied with the current situation,” Huo Jinnan took another drag on his cigarette, inhaling all the smoke into his lungs, then flicked the ash, tapping it into the palm of his hand.
