Daddy Always Gets Jealous

But when Grandpa suddenly sent her a car, could it be he had some other motive?

After much thought, it was just a car, what could possibly come of it?

”Miss.”

Hearing Uncle Guan’s voice, Huo Jinxue came back to her senses, ”Well, that’s it, then. My second brother said I could pick any car I like as my birthday gift. Since Grandpa is generous and willful, and he’s finally willing to spend some money on me, even if it’s just a little, I should accept it. It’s so rare after all!”

”...”

Uncle Guan remained silent, turning his gaze to the old gentleman.

The phone was on speaker, and the old gentleman had heard everything; his complexion seemed quite unpleasant!

Upon reflection, he realized he had indeed neglected Abei and Axue over the years. The children were sensible and never caused him any trouble, so his attention to them had grown less and less...

Feeling a pang of guilt, he turned to Uncle Guan, ”Give me the phone.”

When Huo Jinxue heard Grandpa’s voice and noticed a glance toward Zhong Qin’s direction, she saw her mother looking over. She thought of Grandpa from the other day, and without waiting for the old gentleman to speak, resolutely hung up the call and returned to the living room from the balcony.

Zhong Qin looked at Huo Jinxue, ”Axue, whose call was that?”

Huo Jinxue sat beside Zhong Qin, ”Mom, it was from my second brother; he said he’ll be back later to celebrate my birthday.”

Zhong Qin looked at Huo Jinxue with adoration and smiled, ”After today, you’ll be twenty. Try not to act like a child anymore.”

”Mom, I understand...”

Mall

Che Huan looked at Huo Jinnan, ”What gift should I give to Jinxue?”

Huo Jinnan clearly had little interest in shopping, ”Just get her something casual.”

Che Huan looked at Huo Jinnan, ”What if she doesn’t like it?”

Huo Jinnan casually pointed to a store, ”Pick something expensive.”

”...”

Is this how a brother acts?

Che Huan glanced at Huo Jinnan sideways.

Huo Jinnan turned to Che Huan, and thinking of Huo Jinyun’s birthday next week, knew that Wen Ru might choose to hold the wedding on that day. His eyes deepened considerably with thought.

Seeing his rare moment of distraction.

Che Huan called out ”Huo Xiaoer” and felt a strong hand tighten on her waist. She quickly corrected herself, ”Husband, I was wrong!”

Huo Jinnan looked down at Che Huan for a while before speaking in his magnetic voice, ”Once you’ve bought the gift, I’ll have Huo Bei take you home first. I still have some matters to handle.”

Che Huan looked incredulously at Huo Jinnan, ”But today is Jinxue’s birthday!”

Huo Jinnan lifted his sleeve to glance at his watch, ”There are still ten hours left in the day.”

Seeing his expression, it seemed to be something important!

Che Huan nodded, ”Then come back early, or else everyone will be waiting for you alone.”

Huo Jinnan murmured, ”Alright,” and took Che Huan to the second floor, entering an Apple store, ”Buy her a laptop.”

Che Huan uttered an ”Oh” and looked up at Huo Jinnan, ”Isn’t that a bit too cheap?”

Huo Jinnan spoke softly, ”She doesn’t have much allowance, and her savings are not as much as Huo Minhan’s.”

”Really?”

Che Huan thought of the little guy who had claimed to have a hundred thousand yuan last time, which was way more than her own wealth! But Jinxue, being the young lady of the Huo Family, and Huo Jinyun could buy a bag worth hundreds of thousands—couldn’t she be as wealthy as her nephew?

Huo Jinnan took a phone call and looked at the latest model of the Apple laptop, ”This one.”

After paying, he sent Che Huan to the car, Huo Jinnan told Huo Bei, ”Be careful on the road.”

Che Huan asked Huo Jinnan, ”Which car will you drive then?”

”Qin Shaojin will come to pick me up later.”

Huo Jinnan helped Che Huan close the car door and watched the black Bentley drive away, his gaze becoming more remote.

Soon, a black Volkswagen Polo stopped next to Huo Jinnan who got into the passenger seat, ”Follow them.”
