Daddy Always Gets Jealous

”I understand.”

Huo Jinnan hung up the phone and turned to look at Che Huan.

Che Huan was sitting on the couch, fidgeting with the hem of her clothes, seemingly lost in thought. Beside her sat Wen Nuan, her eyes bright with curiosity. Jinnan had mentioned something that made her eyes sparkle.

He thought back to that video of Che Huan drunkenly staggering in the bar.

If it was Qin Xiaosan, then—

Huo Jinnan raised his hand, loosening his tie. Wen Ru’s mother had said Che Huan was Qin Moting’s biological daughter, which he believed to be true.

But Qin Moting was a man worth pondering over.

Back then, it must have been his capabilities that persuaded Grandpa to arrange a marriage for Huo Jinyun with him.

If that was the case, more than twenty years ago, Qin Moting would have had the ability to keep Wen Ru and her daughter safe. How could he just watch as the woman he loved, carrying his child, married another man?

If not, why would he help Che Huan out of the blue and marry Wen Ru?

Unless it was due to a brain hematoma causing memory loss!

He had asked Qin Xiaosan about this afterwards. It seemed that Qin Moting had never suffered any trauma severe enough to cause a brain hematoma.

He had also asked Shen Mubai. It was true that a cerebral aneurysm pressing on the brain’s nerves could cause headaches, dementia, slowed reactions, memory deterioration, and even amnesia. But if it really came to the point of amnesia, the symptoms wouldn’t just be isolated to memory loss.

Qin Moting, however, clearly showed no signs of dementia, slow reactions, or memory deterioration. In the business world, he was a leading figure, always stable and mature, with meticulous thoughts.

The furrow in his brow tightened and then relaxed.

Thinking that his mother might know something, he turned to Che Huan, ”Sit with Nuannuan for a while, I’m going upstairs to check on something.”

Che Huan thought that Huo’s mother was supposed to have been discharged from the hospital already but was delayed due to her surgery. She agreed, ”Why don’t you take care of Mom’s discharge from the hospital first?”

With Wen Nuan there, she didn’t feel it was right to say more and simply looked up at Huo Jinnan.

”I’ll ask what Mom wants.”

Huo Jinnan whispered and left the suite. He went down to the first floor and bought a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from the convenience store before returning to Zhong Qin’s hospital room.

Sitting in the companion chair, he lit a cigarette and took a drag, then looked at Zhong Qin, ”Mom, Wen Ru’s mother is going to marry Mr. Qin.”

As he expected, his mother reacted to his words!

Zhong Qin looked at Huo Jinnan, ”What did you just say?”

Huo Jinnan looked down at the cigarette box beside him, ”Wen Ru’s mother said Mr. Qin is Huanhuan’s biological father.”

”...”

Zhong Qin looked at Huo Jinnan and did not speak for a long time. Just a few days ago, she had spoken with Xiaoru about Qin Moting. From what Xiaoru said, it seemed she had no intention of getting back together with Qin Moting. How come they were suddenly getting married?

”Mom, Huanhuan is Qin Moting’s biological daughter, you know that right?” Huo Jinnan flicked off the ash from his cigarette, the smoke wedged between his fingers. His fingers pressed down on the cigarette box, and he raised his eyes to look at Zhong Qin.

Zhong Qin looked back at Huo Jinnan and after a while, she nodded her head.

Huo Jinnan’s eyebrows furrowed, ”There’s something I find odd. Wen Ru’s mother seems not to care much about Huanhuan.”

Zhong Qin shook her head and looked at Huo Jinnan, ”Anan, there’s no mother who doesn’t love her child. You don’t understand Xiaoru’s situation.”

”What situation?”

”Don’t mention these things to Huanhuan. I’ve been feeling unsettled recently with all the troubles happening. It’s better to be forewarned.”

Huo Jinnan gave a grunt in acknowledgment and nodded his head.

Zhong Qin sighed deeply and said slowly, ”Actually, Huanhuan was taken away the moment she was born.”

Huo Jinnan extinguished the cigarette in his hand and watched the smoke curl around his fingers, ”Why?”
