Daddy Always Gets Jealous

”You just need to know this much, don’t ask why, but Xiaoru was left with no choice but to watch her own child being taken away, replaced with another child that wasn’t hers. Later, when I found out, I couldn’t bear it, so I had your father secretly switch the children back.”

Huo Jinnan listened quietly. So the child who was supposed to stay by Wen Ru’s side wasn’t her own?

So even if her biological daughter was with her, she didn’t dare to show affection or love, deliberately acting indifferent?

What means did Huo Jinyun use to push Wen Ru to such a state?

He looked up at Zhong Qin, ”Mom, I understand.”

Zhong Qin was relieved to see that Huo Jinnan did not ask further, ”Anan, how did Xiaoru’s surgery go? You haven’t come up since last night, and I’ve asked the nurses, but they weren’t very clear.”

Huo Jinnan looked towards Zhong Qin, ”It was alright, but it looks like President Qin and she will probably get married.”

”...”

Zhong Qin didn’t make a sound. Why so soon? Was there some kind of problem?

Looking at Anan, his expression was normal, not as if there had been an issue.

Huo Jinnan’s gaze grew deeper, ”Mom, I’ll arrange for your discharge, Axue will be starting school soon, and I’ve been quite busy lately. I’m worried Abei won’t be able to cope alone in the hospital.”

Zhong Qin smiled, ”Alright then. If you’re busy you go ahead, I’ll go downstairs and see her.”

Huo Jinnan noticed the screen of his cellphone lit up, indicating an email had been received. He glanced at the subject line, ”Mom, Wen Ru has just rested. Her condition isn’t very stable after the surgery; the doctor recommends she should focus on recuperating.”

”Then I’ll go down later.”

”Tomorrow I’ll have Uncle Lu come over to help you with the discharge procedures.”

After finishing, Huo Jinnan turned to the nurse at the side and inquired about Zhong Qin’s condition, confirming there were no severe rejection reactions in the past half month, which put his mind at ease.

Monday

Uncle Guan gave Huo Jinxue a call, ”Miss, are you at Nanyuan Villa?”

On hearing it was Uncle Guan, Huo Jinxue replied, ”Yes, if there’s nothing important, I’m going to hang up.”

Uncle Guan chuckled, ”Are you still angry with the old master?”

”...”

Huo Jinxue couldn’t be bothered to respond and stayed silent.

Knowing the young miss’s temperament, Uncle Guan patiently asked, ”Today’s your birthday, the old master specially ordered a birthday gift for you. Do you like it?”

The grandfather actually prepared a birthday gift just for her?

Usually, it was only Huo Jinyun and Gu Jizhou’s birthdays that the grandfather paid special attention to, while hers and Huo Jinbei’s were casually disregarded. As if they were no more significant than dogs or cats, they were always told that as descendants of the Huo Family they should be frugal and restrained, a litany of rules and restrictions like a tightening spell formulated especially for her and her third brother!

With that thought, Huo Jinxue couldn’t help but ask, ”What gift?”

Uncle Guan laughed, ”Miss, haven’t you always wanted a car of your own?”

”Wait, are you saying that Maserati is from my grandfather?”

Huo Jinxue glanced at the red Maserati parked outside. She really liked it and had thought it was a lavish present from her wealthy second brother, but to discover it was from her grandfather, who was known for being as stingy as a miser, was truly as surprising as the sun rising in the west and setting in the east!

”Yes, it’s the birthday gift the old master prepared for the miss.”

”...”

Huo Jinxue looked at the car again, really liking it. Should she return it? Considering her grandfather had always been willing to spend money on that mother and son, if she didn’t take it the money would still be spent on them in the end. Why refuse a gift that was free?
