Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

Chapter 276: Chapter 275:Let them in.

A/N: GT goals reached so extra Chapters

The world fell silent around us as we both just stared at the darkened sky.

I had finally been able to pull myself together and now words were escaping me..

”You probably think I’m pathetic.” I decided to break the silence.

I didn’t know for how long this was going to last, but I’ll be damned if I let this opportunity pass in silence.

”Why would I think that?”

”Heh! Maybe because I drone on about avenging you and mom, yet the moment I see you, I cave and break down, just like the child I was back then.”

”Heh! You think being vulnerable makes you weak? You think being allowed to let yourself grieve properly makes you weak?”

”Truly... I have failed as a father.”

My head snapped down immediately, ”you have not!”

”Heh! Then tell me, Dante.” His eyes locked onto mine.

Gold against gold.

”When was the last time you let yourself grieve our passing...”

....

”When was the last time you let yourself be vulnerable and allowed someone else, anybody, to carry that weight burdening your soul?”

....

”I see so much hate within you Dante. So much rage. So much... pain.”

”When was the last time you let it all out?”

”You claim I have not failed you, yet I have burdened you with this quest of vengeance that, now, despite being surrounded by all these people you claim to love, tell me why, Dante... why do you still feel so... alone?”

......

......

”I... cannot rest until I have my peace, father.”

”And what is this peace, you speak of my son? Your vengeance? You genocidal hatred for demons? What is it?”

”All of it! All of it! Father, I cannot rest until I see with my own eyes, those who took you and mother away from me, bleed into the earth.”

.......

.......

”Haaaa... how I wish it was sera here instead. Heh! She would’ve had the perfect words for you, she always did.”

”I am...

....not you, dad.”

A heavy silence me fell between us at the sound of those words.

”I am..

.....not you.”

”I do not share in those optimistic beliefs of yours.

I do not believe all races can live peacefully.

I still believe demons are a wretched plague.

I still believe my vengeance is right.

I am...

.... not you.”

.....

”Heh! And that, my son, is my greatest pride.”

”Wha.. what?”

”I already knew. From the day you were born, I already knew, that you, my son, were bound for a destiny far greater than anything I could ever perceive, I knew.

And what being destined for utter greatness would share the same beliefs as some frog in a well like myself?

It would’ve been fate’s greatest joke if they had made you anything like me, my dear boy.”

”Father....”

”Your hatred. Your rage. Your beliefs. I do not ask you to discard them. All I ask, is that you do not walk this path carrying those burden’s alone.

Ravena.

Dakota.

Tian.

Valen.

They had followed me in all my crazy adventures, never once mocking my foolish beliefs.

Let them in.

It doesn’t matter what hell you wish to travel.

It doesn’t matter what names the world will call you for the things you’ll do.

It doesn’t matter the devil you wish to become.

Just let them in, and they shall accompany you.

The others you’ve surrounded yourself with.

Let them in.

Heh! Even that panicking dark elf, I see she’s had some influence on you, that is good, that is progress.”

At the words, panicking dark elf, my perception suddenly cleared.

”Dante!! Dante!! Dante!!” I could finally hear Khalifa’s panicking sobs.

”What... what’s happening?”

”Heh! What’s happening is our time is running out.”

”What? No!!! There’s still so much I have left to say!!”

”Heh! Life rarely ever gives us what we want, my boy.”

......

......

”I’ll bring you back.”

”Hmm?”

”You and mother, I’ll bring you back.”

A silence fell upon the place once more before,

”Hahahahahahahahahahaha....” He laughed.

”As expected of my son. Never one to be bogged down, though I’ll have you know, the ability I used to kill those bastards was a very nasty one, bringing me back is nigh impossible.”

”You never said it couldn’t be done.”

”Oh, it can be done alright, but...”

”Heh! I already have a lead... all I need to do right now is get stronger.

Strong enough to leave this world.

Strong enough to hunt down my target.

All I need is for you and mom to wait.

Just a little while longer.”

”Heh! Those are some very bold words, Dante. But I expect nothing less from my own son.”

”Alright then, we shall wait, I mean, I’m already dead anyway, I’ve got nothing but time, ahahahahahahahahahaha...”

”Damn... old man, I’m trying to be serious here.”

”Nuh uh. You’re just trying to look cool so you can have a badass exit, I’ll be damned if I let that happen.”

”The only one who’s ever getting a badass exit will be me, hahahahahahahahahaha....”

I shook my head at the childish antics of the old man...

”Haaa... seems truly that our time is coming to an end.”

”But I never would’ve thought we’d be meeting this soon, to think you’ve already touched upon the concept of soul to this extent.”

”Soul? You know about the soul law?”

”Law? Ahh... I see.. damn terra. Hahahaha.... still suppressing the true effects of laws and concepts, huh?”

”What was that?”

”Nothing. It will all be made clear soon enough, don’t you worry.”

”Dad...”

”Hmm?”

”The others responsible.. who are they? I already have that snake Damien and the other one asmodeus, who are the others. Let me make them pay.”

”So I was right huh? That indeed wasn’t his true self, what a pity.” The old man shook his head.

”Dad..”

”I can’t.”

”What? Why?”

”Because If I just went ahead and told you who they were, you’d skip all the adventures you’re supposed to have, and go straight to the boss fight, but where’s the fun in that??”

”Don’t play with me old man!!”

”Hahahahahahahaha... live freely my son!

Do not let the world tell you who to be!

Live for yourself and those you love.

And remember to never walk alone, let them in, let them carry your burdens with you, for only then, will you have a lived a life that is truly fulfilling,”

”And that, my boy, is all I wish for you....”

”Dad!!!” I screamed after his fading figure...

”Hahahahahahaha!!! I already told you! The only one who gets a badass exit is ME!!!! Bahahahahahaha... now go! Dante! Go and always know that I am proud to call you MY SON!!!”

”DAAAAADDD!!!!!!” I screamed awake!

”Haaa... haaa... haaa...” my breathing came out heavy, a feeling of utter exhaustion washing all over me...

”DANTEEEEE!!!!” A body collapsed ontop mine, as Khalifa sobed uncontrollably..

”You were dead! You were dead! I thought I lost you... don’t ever scare me like that again..” she complained, holding me tighter as she wept...

”Haaaa... haaa... I’m fine.. Khali.. I’m fi...”
