Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

Chapter 256: Chapter 255:You have my word!

”Hello..” the moment I opened my eyes, a pair of beautiful emerald green eyes greeted my face..

”Really? Even you? I thought you were better than this?” I shook my head as I slowly stood up, lifting Mira’s form from my body.

”Humph! Try to help someone out and this is the gratitude I get.” She huffed, crossing her arms and turning her head away, not bothering to try getting out of my hands.

”But, I was perfectly conscious though?” I mused, finally placing the beautiful woman down.

”Yea? Then why didn’t you say anything when I entered earlier?”

”I was too focused on something, didn’t want to let myself be distracted, it felt like I was close to discovering something about my art..”

”Oh? And did you?”

”Haaa... unfortunately, I couldn’t.” I sighed, shaking my head as I made my way towards the exit of the training room..

”Sorry, I didn’t mean to be a bother..” she muttered softly, her figure catching up to me.

”Hmm? Oh, it has nothing to do with you, don’t worry, I’m just missing something is all, but I’m sure I’ll find it soon enough, besides, it wasn’t a total burst.” I replied.

No, I wasn’t trying to console her, it really had nothing to do with her, and I did come out with a lot of progress..

Heat, Inevitability and collapse had all seen some improvements, with Heat seeing the most improvement, having now reached the embodiment stage.

As for the newer additions, Massacre, Negation, and Entropy, well they all had special circumstances to comprehend properly so I couldn’t put the time into them for now, but soon..

”Anyway, did you cook yet? I’m starving.” After a whole day of going through system logs and comprehending laws, I was famished.

”At this rate, people who didn’t know might think something else.”

”Let them think whatever they want, just consider this as you paying rent with food.”

”Sure... whatever you say.” She rolled her eyes as she walked passed me, hips swaying in that effortless hypnotic manner.

....

....

”Sho, where’sh Khalifa?” I asked, face stuffed full of food.

”Can you learn to stop talking whilst eating?” Melissa

”No!”

”I tried.”

”That’s not what trying looks like Mel.” Mira chided.

”I’m too lazy to be bothered truly, let him do whatever he wants.” Melissa shrugged.

”So? Where’s our resident air head?” I asked once more.

BANG!!!!

The door slamming open answered my question before the others could.

”HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... This young lady finally got!!” Khalifa’s boisterous laugh resounded through the room as the elven woman struck a pose, nose pointed to the sky.

”What’s this crazy woman on about now?”

”Ack!! Dante!! You bastard!! What did you just call me??”

”Huh? Did I say anything? You must be hearing wrongly.”

”This motherfucker...”

”Alright.. alright, before you guys start fighting, again, why not tell us what’s got you so excited?” Mira interjected promptly..

”Humph! This young lady finally got the demon noble quest registered.” Khalifa snorted, her prudent expression returning.

”””WHAT??”””

All three girls, Melissa, Kaila, and Mira instantly stood in surprise, confusing both me and Cara that had sneakily crawled into my lap.

”How? And why??” Kaila held her twin, shaking her furiously.

”Woah! Woah! Sis, you’ll shake me to death if you keep doing that..”

”Ahh! Sorry! It’s just.. why??”

”What do you mean why? You know what the academy, no, what the kingdom of lustria is offering for that bastard’s head. I need it.”

”But, that particular mission is a burial ground for many people, even sanctum students aren’t an exception , you know this!”

”Yes, but so what? I should cower because some other little shits couldn’t get the job done?” Khalifa snorted.

”Woah! Woah! Woah! Ladies, hold up, what’s all this about a demon noble mission, and why are you guys so discomforted about it?” I asked, curious.

”Haa... how do I explain this?” Mira sighed, trying to articulate her words properly, ”Well, a few years ago, the Demon kingdom of Lustria suddenly put a bounty on the head of one of the demon noble houses of Enviria, because, apparently, that noble house’s heir had kidnapped the crown princess of Lustria.”

”The reward was quite enticing,” Melissa continued, ”A Complete law fragment of the [MAJOR LAW], and as you can guess, many people were sent into an excited state about the news, but here’s the thing, that demon noble house, the one Lustria had placed the bounty on, is one of the four ducal houses of Enviria, belonging to the members of the Blood Demon lineage, Balor, and the demon king of envy doesn’t play with his dukes, so, it’s been nothing but a massacre for anyone dumb enough to dip their hands into such muddy waters.”

I simply kept quiet as I listened to the two women finish their explanation, trying to stop my killing intent from spiking the moment I heard the word Demon.

The moment Melissa was done, ”you guys couldn’t possibly believe such trifle from that filthy race.” I replied.

”Nobody does, everyone knows it might simply be the kingdom of Lustria looking to borrow a knife and get rid of a rival’s strength, but, who cares? The reward is enticing enough for nobody to bother with the details.” Melissa shrugged.

”Exactly! And that reward is going to be mine!” Khalifa declared proudly.

”The hell it is!!! You’re not going on that mission!!” Kaila shut her down instantly.

”What!? Why!?”

”Because I’m not losing my sister to some filthy demons, now go rescind it!!”

”No! I need it! A complete law fragment will give me another law tied to the sword at the Embodiment stage, that’ll make me exponentially more powerful, I can’t give this up!”

”You need to be alive to use that power don’t you? How are you going to survive those envious bastards’ assault? You think that bitch Asmodeus, is just going to let you waltz in and take the head of his Duke?!”

”I’m not going for the Duke, I’m just going for the heir, all I need is a plan and I can get the bastard killed, escape, and have no need to have a demon king on my tail.”

”Yes, why didn’t I think of that? IDIOT!! You think it’s going to be that simple? There’s no way I’m letting you go on that mission, you’re giving it up!” Kaila was adamant.

”Hey, I don’t mean to pry, but, why not let Khalifa do the mission? She seems pretty confident.” I decided to aid the exhibitionist a bit.

”Haaaa... Dante, you don’t get it. Those bastards. If they get a hold of my sister, death would be a mercy compared to what they’d do to her, I can’t have that on my conscience.” Kaila was almost weeping at this point.

”Then why not just go with her?”

”We already took a mission together earlier, all three of us, even Cara there is coming with us, since she said her teacher insisted she become an elite before her ascension exams.” Mira explained softly.

”Ahh.. so that means..”

”Yes, we can’t accompany Khalifa on this foolish mission, and there’s no way we’ll be comfortable on our own mission, knowing she might fall into the hands of some demented bastards.” Melissa added.

”You’re giving up that mission khali, and that’s final!”

”But sis....”

”Not buts, you’re giving it up, like it or not, I don’t mind if you hate me for it, but I’d rather have you hate me than have you worse than dead!” Tears were already flowing down Kaila’s face at this point, she seemed genuinely terrified of the idea of her sister going on such a mission.

”Sis....” Khalifa wavered, unable to bear her sister crying..

”I’ll go with her...” my voice instantly silenced the entire place as all eyes turned towards me simultaneously.

”What?”

”I said, I’ll go with Khalifa, and you can trust that with me there, no filthy demon will ever lay a hand on a strand of her hair...”

I stood, coming to stand beside the stunned Khalifa, my hand coming to rest atop her white hair.

”On that.. You have my word.”
