Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

“Siha.” Yu Bao blinked its eyes, trying to get away with it by acting cute.

‘Right, right, right. It’s all Alliance Leader Luo Sen’s fault.’

‘What bad intentions could a little mutt like me possibly have?’

“Really leaning into it, are we… You’re the one with the most devious ideas.” Su Zhi flicked its head, exasperated.

“Any Pet Beast that has to face you in the future must have been cursed with eight lifetimes of bad luck.”

“Siha~”

“It’s late. Go to sleep. Huh? Wu Bao, you’re not sleeping?”

“Wuwu.” Wu Bao shook its head and brandished the tablet in its hand.

“You want to read novels…? Alright then. Just make sure you don’t disturb anyone, okay?”

Su Zhi gave his instructions and went back to sleep without a second thought. After all, Wu Bao was pretty low-maintenance, unlike a certain Wise One who was full of nothing but bad ideas.

…

The night grew quiet.

Everyone else was asleep, but Wu Bao was so anxious it felt like it was about to explode.

The tablet was already connected to a power bank, one Wu Bao had asked Xiaoyue to borrow from Shao Ya. But the battery was too low, and it still wouldn’t turn on.

‘Come on, hurry up…!’

‘Yes, it’s working!’

After more than ten tries, the tablet finally struggled to boot up. Feeling like it had just seen its savior, Wu Bao quickly opened the Author Assistant app and used its mobile data to publish a chapter.

‘Phew… I finally got the update out…’

Wu Bao let out a long sigh of relief and collapsed on the floor, completely spent.

It hadn’t updated its story in days, and the anxiety had felt like ants crawling all over its skin. Thankfully, the flow of time in the Secret Realm wasn’t synchronized with the Current World. Otherwise, after such a long hiatus, it would have been completely screwed.

Wu Bao switched over to its author group chat, which was bustling with activity—

[Gou of Gou Mao]: My son just messaged me to say he’s safe! A huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Thank you, everyone, for your support and encouragement these past few days. /crying /fist_clasp

[Book Famine Made Me Write]: As long as he’s okay, that’s all that matters.

[Desert Paramecium]: So, Senior Gou Mao, aren’t you going to drop an extra chapter to celebrate? /smirk

[Jiuyou Wuyou]: So, Senior Gou Mao, aren’t you going to drop an extra chapter to celebrate? /smirk

A stream of “+1” messages instantly flooded the screen.

[Gou of Gou Mao]: Tsk, you all just reminded me.

[Gou of Gou Mao]: My son is coming home tomorrow. I need to hurry and help him clean his room, and I should make him a nice meal.

[Gou of Gou Mao]: I think I’ll take a day off tomorrow.

[Jiuyou Wuyou]: ?

A stream of question marks instantly flooded the screen.

Just then, Wu Bao’s eyes caught a familiar profile picture—it was its own editor, Er Shang!

Seeing a pile of unread private messages from him, Wu Bao quickly switched windows.

[Wu Bao]: Boss Er Shang, I’m so sorry! Something came up! /kowtow

[Wu Bao]: I just updated. It won’t affect my perfect attendance bonus, will it? /nervous_face

‘My last update was on the morning of the earthquake, which was yesterday morning. And I just updated tonight… right?’

[Er Shang]: Yeah, as long as you’re okay. I can finally stop worrying.

[Er Shang]: As for the update… I’m afraid you’ve missed a day.

[Wu Bao]: ???

Wu Bao quickly switched back. Sure enough, the last update was listed as 9 AM the day before yesterday.

It was now 12:15 AM. It was true that it had submitted the update at 11:59 PM last night, but because it got held up for review, the post was delayed by a few minutes.

And so, it had perfectly missed the update window…

[Wu Bao]: FUCK!

[Er Shang]: *headpat.jpg*

[Wu Bao]: Wuwu, so are my recommendations gone too…?

To prevent authors who drop their stories from hogging resources, Qi Point’s recommendation system was tied to a book’s update schedule. If a featured book wasn’t updated in twenty-four hours, it would be taken off the list immediately.

And it had been on its last major recommendation before going premium—the legendary Sanjiang, the most powerful feature slot for a new book.

‘What a devastating loss… ‘

[Er Shang]: It’s okay. I’ve already explained your situation to the editor-in-chief, and they all understand.

[Er Shang]: Now that you’ve started updating again, your recommendation will stay right where it is.

[Er Shang]: Just focus on writing. Don’t worry about anything else. I’ll take care of it.

[Wu Bao]: …YES SIR!!!

‘It’s decided. I’ll drop a hundred chapters the day it goes premium.’

‘For Er Shang!’
