Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

”If your Beast Taming Space advances beyond Tier Six in the future, this independent contract slot will advance along with it. It won’t be affected.”

Holy shit!

Su Zhi’s eyes widened in sheer joy.

There’s nothing more frustrating for a Beastmaster than running out of contract slots for new beasts. Now that Luo Sen had told him he had an extra contract slot, his team of Pet Beasts would have a permanent +1 advantage over his Same-Tier rivals!

”But why did this happen?” Su Zhi asked curiously, coming back to his senses.

’The talent I awakened is for adding points, not expanding my Beast Taming Space, right?’

”Because of battle.”

It was Shao Ya who spoke this time.

”My father told me that only about 2.3% of the Common Defense Alliance’s members have a Dual Space, and it can only be acquired through combat.

”When a Beast Tamer is on the verge of death in battle, they often take the initiative to sever their contracts with any Pet Beasts that aren’t gravely injured. After their death, the ownerless, empty Beast Taming Space might not dissipate right away. Instead, it will seek out a similar aura nearby...

”...another Beast Tamer.”

Shao Ya sighed.

”That’s why those with a Dual Space often don’t feel lucky. It’s something gained through the sacrifice of a comrade-in-arms.”

Su Zhi’s expression was complicated. He clenched his fists.

He realized in that moment that he hadn’t just gained a powerful Dual Space; he now carried the unfulfilled glory of Tuoba Jing.

Tuoba Jing had reached across more than two hundred years of time to show him what it truly meant to be a Beastmaster.

”I will continue down this path in your place, Senior.” Su Zhi whispered, bidding farewell to The Last Beastmaster.

”If you truly understand what your Dual Space means, then pull yourself together. Don’t waver, don’t back down, don’t doubt. That is the Common Defense Alliance.”

Luo Sen didn’t turn around, his voice uncharacteristically calm.

”As for Yu Bao’s idea... it might not be such a wild fantasy.”

”Huh?” Su Zhi’s ears perked up.

”Since a Yu Dian Dog can ultimately evolve into a Yu Dian Emperor Dog, then aside from mastering different Attributes individually, gradually mastering all of them should, in theory, also be a viable path.”

Luo Sen looked at Su Zhi. ”In fact, I think this path is actually more suitable for Yu Bao. Have you forgotten? During his first conventional evolution, Yu Bao already showed fluctuations of Gold Element Energy, even when his Attributes were still Earth and Fire Dual Element. This indicates that while the Gold and Fire Elements in his body clash on an elemental level, they share a common origin.”

”That... actually makes a lot of sense...”

Su Zhi blinked. ”But Emperor Heng never mentioned how to go about this. Yu Bao tried exploring it on his own before, but he failed. Don’t tell me you have a way?”

Luo Sen gave a faint smile.

”I don’t.”

Su Zhi: ”...”

’Then what are you smiling for?’

”Because the beauty of science lies in exploring the unknown, does it not? Besides, it’s not like we’re fumbling around in complete darkness. Nature already has Exotic Beasts with the Earth, Fire, and Gold trinity of elements. The Burning Sand Spirits of the Talal Desert, for instance. The Burning Sand Forging you used was a byproduct of that type of Pet Beast.”

The curve of Luo Sen’s lips widened, revealing blood-red teeth. ”As it happens, I have a project out there that’s been on hold for a while due to a lack of data and low priority. If you want to go, I’ll reopen the project. How about I give you an official role? Your Flying Shadow Alliance’s construction corps is stationed there, too, which would be convenient if anything comes up.”

”Isn’t this a bit of a transparent setup?” Su Zhi pursed his lips.

’The Journey of the Hundred Rivers was intense enough. He was lucky to have made it out of that Secret Realm alive; otherwise, things would have gone horribly wrong. And now Luo Sen wanted him to go for round two?’

’And that ”convenient” part... did he mean it’s convenient for them to come rescue me as soon as I get into trouble? ...That’s probably exactly what he meant...’

Luo Sen waved a hand dismissively. ”Relax. Your national team tournament is about to start. Even if you wanted to go, it would have to be in a month or so, at the earliest.”

”That’s good.”

Su Zhi let out a long sigh of relief. Then, his ears twitched. Something had just clicked.

”Huh? Wait a second... the Talal Desert?”

Luo Sen’s eyes narrowed. ”Genuinely interested?”

’Don’t get ahead of yourself,’ Su Zhi thought, pursing his lips.

But he did recall the topic he and Zi Lu had chanced upon back in the Secret Realm: legend had it that the purest lineage of the Flash Gold Sparrow dwelled there. The desert tribes revered it as a Divine Bird and had even built a Tomb in its honor. It was a region shrouded in mystery.

Although that had all faded into the annals of history, barely registering as a blip in the official records of Yu Dian...

’But maybe, just maybe, Luo Sen knew some inside story?’
