Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

This was especially useful against the pecking attacks of bird-type Pet Beasts like the Cyan Bee. As long as the angle was slightly off, the attack would be deflected. An incredibly useful skill.

And very forgiving.

However, the Cyan Bee had no intention of slowing down. In her eyes, this was just a futile struggle.

Perfect Block was indeed unbeatable among those of the Same Tier, but Wu Bao had overlooked one problem… the gap between them wasn’t as simple as a single tier. If the Cyan Bee were to launch a true frontal Strong Attack, the so-called Perfect Block would be a joke.

Besides, Perfect Block wasn’t actually ”perfect”... The thicker and sturdier a Black Fighting Emperor’s shell, the more vulnerable the gaps between its plates became.

And the Cyan Bee was aiming for the gap in the armor at Wu Bao’s neck. For other Pet Beasts, hitting this spot would be next to impossible, but for a Cyan-striped Bee-eater, it was child’s play.

Even if the Cyan Bee only used the power of a Tier Two, she was absolutely confident she could break through Wu Bao’s weak point.

’This is getting a bit boring,’ the Cyan Bee thought to herself.

’So this is Su Zhi’s Pet Beast? Nothing to write home about. It had some novel moves, but once I adapted, it’s just plain ordinary…’

Huh?

Just as she was about to strike, the Cyan Bee saw Wu Bao’s body suddenly shrink by several magnitudes. Its huge frame—nearly three meters long and two meters tall—instantly became the size of a mouse.

’It’s Doubling! This Black Fighting Emperor is incredibly skilled with it!’

Wu Bao’s maneuver took the Cyan Bee completely by surprise.

Relying on shrinking the target to dodge an attack from a Cyan-striped Bee-eater was certainly wishful thinking, but it would be unrealistic to say it had no effect at all.

Because Wu Bao had shrunk so abruptly, the Cyan Bee’s attack was thrown off by a minuscule amount. The beak that should have pierced the gap with perfect precision was now off by an inch, striking the edge of the armor plate instead.

To crack Perfect Block, one needed a ”perfect” attack.

And the moment Wu Bao managed to make this attack imperfect, the Cyan Bee’s assault had already failed.

TWANG! The Cyan Bee’s beak was sent flying.

The Cyan-striped Bee-eater’s disadvantage—its light weight—was exposed. Lacking the mass to stabilize itself, the Cyan Bee’s entire body was sent spinning through the air by the force of Perfect Block.

But she gave Wu Bao no chance to catch its breath. The instant her beak was deflected, she beat her two pairs of wings and shot a volley of dark light at Wu Bao.

Shadow Arrow Rain: A High Level Elite Skill of the Wind and Dark Elements, and a Racial Skill of the Cyan-striped Bee-eater.

It worked by concentrating Dark Element Energy in the wings, flapping them rapidly, and then launching the projectiles with a boost from Wind Energy, creating a barrage of arrows with superior offensive Power.

The wide-area strike made it much harder for an opponent to evade, and the use of Dark Element Energy was the masterstroke. A Pet Beast that wasn’t of the Dark Element would almost certainly be temporarily blinded if hit.

Even if it wasn’t defeated on the spot, a blinded Pet Beast would stand almost no chance against a Cyan-striped Bee-eater’s follow-up strike!

At that moment, the Cyan Bee had thought to herself, ’Heh, I’m pretty cool~’

Then she snapped back to reality, completely stunned.

Facing her Shadow Arrow Rain barrage, Wu Bao dodged like a mouse, somehow managing to evade every single projectile and even using the opportunity to put some distance between them.

Its footwork was so silky smooth it was absurd. For a second, the Cyan Bee had the illusion that she wasn’t facing a Black Fighting Emperor, but a Ghost Shadow Mouse...

Shadow Arrow Rain could be launched quickly, but the projectiles themselves weren’t that fast. An agility-type Pet Beast could certainly dodge them.

’So, it makes sense that Wu Bao could dodge it...’

Bullshit!

Since when is a Black Fighting Emperor an agility-type Pet Beast!?

For a moment, the Cyan Bee felt like her entire worldview had been shaken.

Despite this, she quickly composed herself and finished the spar.

Once its tricks had been figured out, Wu Bao could no longer keep up with the Cyan Bee. The second time it tried using Doubling, the move was seen through instantly, and the Cyan Bee took it out with a single Rush Form.

Wu Bao, eliminated.

The Cyan Bee had used three moves in total. The entire match took eleven seconds!

Alliance Leader Cui Que raised an eyebrow in surprise. Her elegant, cool eyes swept over Su Zhi, a complicated look within them.

Even though she had won the second round decisively, she felt no satisfaction.

For the Dark Alliance, a drawn-out battle that should have been a swift victory was more disgraceful than outright defeat.

Time is efficiency; stealth is the Royal Dao. This fight was very ”un-Dark Alliance.”

The spectating Alliance Members all looked astonished. At the start, everyone had been marveling at the Cyan Bee’s sharp style, powerful Skills, and seasoned experience—and how cute Cui Que was—but now they were genuinely amazed by Wu Bao’s performance.

”Am I seeing things? That kid Su Zhi’s Black Fighting Emperor... actually lasted three exchanges with the Cyan Bee?”

”Uhh, you can’t really call them ’exchanges.’ It was more like it was just taking the hits one-sidedly.”

”Could you take three of those moves, though? I don’t think I could...”

”Well... if it were Alliance Leader Cui Que stepping on me, I’d tearfully take three stomps!”

”Piss off!”

”Wait, you call that thing a Black Fighting Emperor? What kind of Black Fighting Emperor can move that fast?!”

”Haha, first time watching one of Su Zhi’s spars, right? It’d be weirder if his Pet Beasts were actually normal.”

”It seems ridiculous, but since it’s Su Zhi, it’s actually normal.jpg”

”Gotta be fair, though. Even so, it’s not easy to use those abilities so flexibly and maximize any advantage against the Cyan Bee. If you gave me the same Black Fighting Emperor, I doubt I could do as well as he did.”

”That’s true. Su Zhi’s tactics are still green, but he always manages to come up with the perfect strategy for the situation in the shortest amount of time. All he’s missing is experience.”
