Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The gunfire outside the door ceased, leaving only a clear sound of footsteps rushing in this direction.

The adjutant stood up, saluted He Wei, then aimed the muzzle at his own chin, and without hesitation, pulled the trigger.

Blood splattered on the monitoring screen, several guards’ bodies lay in the corners, but the other staff members turned a blind eye to it, continuing to devise the next strategic plan at the blood-stained workstation.

The scene was bizarre and horrifying.

He Wei’s eyes twitched, a red hue appearing around them, as he returned the salute to the adjutant’s body.

Urgent knocking sounded on the door, but without waiting for He Wei’s permission, the latter already pushed the door open and entered, saying anxiously, ”That unknown threat has broken through our blockade, attacking——”

Before he could finish his sentence, a clear bloody hole appeared between his eyebrows.

The low-ranking officer looked incredulous, then fell to the ground with his head thrown back.

He Wei coldly gazed at the empty corridor behind the officer, sneered, then aimed his pistol at his own temple and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

”Click——”

This carefully maintained and freshly checked pistol had jammed at this moment!

But He Wei merely furrowed his brow, ejected the jammed bullet, and pulled the trigger again at himself.

”Click!”

It jammed again!

But He Wei’s actions showed not even a hint of hesitation, ejecting, chambering, pulling the trigger.

”Click!”

”Click! Click! Click——”

A whole eleven bullets, all jammed!

Even He Wei’s strong mind began to waver, but he only paused for a moment, then discarded the old Iron Eagle-1 tactical pistol in his hand, picked up the Dragon Fang-2 pistol that lay beside the adjutant, and continued his attempt.

But this time, the previously smooth pistol jammed again.

”This is destined fate, no matter how many attempts you make, it will jam,”

An aged voice suddenly appeared in the room, and a semi-transparent phantom quietly materialized in front of the general.

White flames flowed down from the neck, spreading to the ground, while pitch-black eyes bore a dark golden cross resembling an abyssal rift.

The Weaver of Illusory Fate, the Pale Demon, the Deceiver Marcus.

He Wei surveyed him briefly, a faint murderous air emerging, ”Are you an Evil Anomaly, or some other grotesque creature?”

Though the other was taller than him, He Wei’s tone was like reprimanding a soldier, his voice authoritative.

”Mortal, you should hold reverence for power.”

”To hell with your fate!”

The general sneered, ramming his head into the nearby wall.

But at the moment his head was about to collide with the wall, his entire body stopped, his feet firmly rooted on the spot as if planted.

Recill appeared above his head, one hand gripping He Wei’s skull.

”Ignorance is not equal to courage; let me see what lies within your memory.”

”Hmm, there’s actually an entrance to another world here, and it’s the main world on the verge of collapse. Damn, these mortals have held it off here for two years!”

Recill’s shriek drew Marcus’s attention, ”Excavate more information of that world, it might be needed if my Lord plans to conquer it.”

”No, he doesn’t know much, and he’s hidden it too deeply. Unless it’s a Great Lord with power over memories, more content can’t be dug out... Wait a moment, what’s this?”

”It seems he’s set up a mutually destructive countermeasure, waiting specifically for us to enter.”

Marcus said calmly, ”Let him disarm it himself!”

Recill shrieked sharply, ”No, the countermeasure was set by his adjutant, he knows nothing about it, but the adjutant is already dead!”

”Why didn’t you stop him!”

Marcus spoke darkly.

”This place is already deep within the Rule Zone, restrictions are everywhere, I just arrived slightly earlier than you.”

Recill retorted.

In the midst of their argument, an emergency alarm rang out, and before the two demons could make a decision, the ground began to tremble, then, in He Wei’s vacant eyes, the entire division headquarters was blasted into the sky.

From a high altitude, the wasteland looked like a dragon turning over, various underground structures and trenches connected to the division headquarters all turned into pressure vents at this moment, surging like turning soil.

It took a full five minutes for the explosion to subside.

The interior of the division headquarters was pitch-black, not a finger could be seen, only a stream of white flame flowed along the ground.

Recill’s voice emerged, ”So it was their explosive weapon, who knows how they researched it, comparable to legendary magic.”

”Unfortunately, there was no power of Magic within, otherwise our end would have been no better than Vikaron’s.”

”That person is truly terrifying, but fortunately we have him now.”

The soil layer was lifted, He Wei stood intact between the two Pale Demons, his gaze cold and fierce.

...

Su Huan called over Shen Li and other senior officers, intending to have them set up camp on the spot while he went to inspect the division headquarters, when the second communication from the division headquarters was received.

And the content of the communication made everyone’s skin crawl.

The communication still had He Wei’s voice, without any sign of weakness, distortion, or deformation.

”Half an hour ago, an Evil Anomaly disguised as an outsider attacked the division headquarters and forged my orders, conveying a series of unreasonable commands, all canceled now. I now declare, stripping the duty of the Evil Anomaly using the alias Su Huan, 892nd Synthetic Brigade Commander, and issuing a division-wide manhunt!”

”...”

”Impossible, how can the brigade commander be an Evil Anomaly!”

Qin Mian was the first to shout.

Other senior officers were initially stunned too but quickly realized, didn’t they know whether Su Huan was an Evil Anomaly?
