Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Su Huan didn’t take the fast track through the Armed Hall, but rather strolled leisurely along the corridor of the train toward the cultivation pod at the end.

No one knows what material Vice President Deng and the others used for the floor, it looks like smooth marble, reflecting a gentle gloss under the light band, with two ten-centimeter-wide strips extending backward along the wall.

One is the Ghost Umbrella Mushroom Carpet, and the other is a diversion strip connecting the main power and energy hub of the train; the former is mainly for sterilization when boarding, and the latter can greatly reduce the energy loss during the train conductor’s energy infusion. Ever since Su Huan ascended to Tier Four, it’s hardly used anymore, his energy almost doesn’t lose within a ten-kilometer range.

Instead, it’s used more by the charging team.

Next to Su Huan’s compartment number 1 is the Secretary Group, originally for convenient task assignment to Shu Wei, now it’s Hu Shuo’s main ground.

The door is wide open, the sound of keyboard tapping and Hu Shuo’s low voice explaining things diffuse like a busy office, causing Su Huan to instinctively suppress his footsteps and quickly leave, lest he gets stuck here for a day or two.

The Secretary Group has expanded to a team of fifteen, aligning their working hours to Hu Shuo, the general secretary, at thirty hours, taking turns to rest, while sentinels are resting, there are still people here; since its establishment, even in a state of war, this room has never been unoccupied, instead it became even busier.

All losses and military merits need to be calculated and converted into points for distribution by the end of the day.

As long as the team accomplishes combat objectives and returns to the train, all types of information get sent to the soldiers’ backend. After all, this is an apocalypse, no one knows if they will survive to the next battle, daily settlement of points is just insignificant spiritual solace.

But this is just one aspect of the Secretary Group’s work, there’s no ”market” on the train, everything has to be macro-controlled, for instance, if some item’s consumption is too high, the Secretary Group will issue orders to restrict ordinary passengers from exchanging it, or increase the exchange points requirement, or issue tasks for the Armed Corps to acquire, or for some laboratory to boost production, etc.

From combat missions, to matters as small as a screw on the train, the Secretary Group needs to know and coordinate.

And everyone on the train is a screw, depending on the rules, and the ever-changing situations, maintaining the train’s operation.

The narrow space of the train forces the people here to efficiently use every resource and second, because they don’t have much room for error, the collapse of any system would trigger a chain reaction.

Manual control, although time-consuming and laborious, is still the best method at this current stage.

As for the artificial intelligence developed by Luo Jingyi, it’s similar to Chen Ziliang, still stuck in its phase of debating with itself.

Far away from the potion room, Su Huan saw Lao San’s figure, just his back gives off a heavy feeling.

With slight doubt, he walked over, looked into the potion room, Wan Xing was surprisingly not lounging on the sofa watching anime, but sitting at the back, lost in thought, upon seeing it was Su Huan, without waiting for him to ask, said: ”He has exchanged for the advanced version of the Genetic Transformation Potion.”

...

The Armed Corps were all out fighting, the soldiers of the combat group were controlling weapons in the upper layer, the entire activity compartment was empty, even after multiple purifications, the air still held the scent of hormones, and a fervor that made people feel exhilarated.

Various strange exercise equipment filled the entire space, Lin Jin’s glass cover, Liang Kuan’s training shield, the tonnage dumbbell from He Jie through Xiaoba.

In the corner, a pool of sweat had gathered on the ground, Lao San was half-naked, hanging upside down on the Dragon Gate Frame, abdominal muscles shaking uncontrollably, eyes blood-red, as the last bit of strength drained, his entire persona suddenly gave way, leaving only his toes hooked on, swinging like a swing.

Each hand grasped a potion, once injected with the irreversible transformation potion, it eliminates the possibility of natural evolution.

Lao San looked at the Genetic Potion in his hands with vacant eyes.

In this active space, his sweat wasn’t less than anyone else’s, and on the battlefield, his blood wasn’t spared more than anyone else’s.

Yet, everyone else had advanced, except him alone.

He wasn’t a petty person, but watching his brothers, who share talks and shenanigans every day, step by step climb up, keeping pace with the train conductor, whereas no matter how much effort he put, he was stuck in place, the pressure nearly suffocated him.

Even when the evolution degree of subordinates began to surpass him, he still managed to hold on, but when he found out his Life Force cap stayed at Tier One, he felt like wearing a size smaller shirt, suffocating to death, yet not knowing how to break free.

When the advanced version of the Transformation Potion appeared, he had already made up his mind.

Twist slightly, a sharp needle popped out from the end of the potion, to ensure piercing through an Evolver’s tough skin, all needles were specially made.

’To hell with evolution!’

Lao San closed his eyes, fiercely stabbing towards the carotid artery.

But for a long time didn’t feel that sharp pain, his palm seemed more like being clamped by iron pincers.

In astonishment, Lao San opened his eyes, colliding with reversed pitch-black pupils.

”Once used, there’s no turning back.”

Looking at Su Huan crouched in front of him, Lao San opened his mouth, ”Four elder brother, my path is broken.”

Su Huan was silent; he just learned the whole story from Wan Xing and Director Xu, Lao San’s Life Force cap wasn’t enough, there was no way to expand it, even eating Crown Pear wouldn’t do, this is life’s shackle, apart from evolution, there’s no escape.
