Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The remaining trenches are all temporarily dug out.

According to He Jie’s tactics, although these places are not required to play a significant role, at least they cannot become weaknesses in combat. Therefore, each bunker must station a certain number of armed soldiers to act as officers and core units, commanding the large number of ordinary soldiers and Evolvers with gunfire.

Following He Jie’s idea, Su Huan just sits in the armed train, parked right in the middle of the battlefield, without having to go anywhere.

After all, the pale demon is coming for him, wherever he is, that’s the core battlefield.

As for the Armed Corps’ eight hundred soldiers, according to the old rule, they are divided into groups of five, given a set of translation equipment, and all scattered into the defense line, with Xiaoba and Lin Jin providing support at any time.

Without much discussion, He Jie had already completed the deployment plans swiftly.

By the third day, all the soldiers had arrived at the station, and during these three days, battles large and small almost never ceased, centered around the armed train, with fights on the scale of ten thousand people occurring three times already.

The saying goes, a thousand people fill the city, ten thousand fill the field. When the number exceeds ten thousand, it becomes difficult to distinguish with the naked eye; the entire snowfield is densely packed with people, and even before the apocalypse, a full bombardment lasting several hours could still leave some survivors.

But in front of Su Huan, it was simple. With a snap of his fingers, everything was evenly wiped out, even exposing the ground beneath the snowfield; as the wind blew, the floating snowflakes briefly covered this brutal battlefield, only to be crushed underfoot again.

Three clean slates doubled Su Huan’s life force. Ever since the gaps were filled, his once-quiet genes began to agitate again, starting to deduce skills.

After granting him three rather useless small skills, he finally evolved a useful ”Fighting Master” Tier Four skill, though it seemed he would not be able to use it; despite traveling through twelve large regions, he never witnessed a combat-related Rule, and depending on evolution alone, he did not have Lin Jin’s comprehension ability.

The primary profession was also stirring, but due to the tier issue, the process was very slow, and it consumed a substantial amount of life force.

Currently, this was the least of his concerns, but Su Huan only acted three times, leaving the scattered soldiers to those below him.

The power of Fusion was immense, and its impact on the environment was even greater. Because of his actions, the ground shattered, rivers changed course, and the temperature even began to rise. He feared this would affect the Wind Snow Zone within Donghuang’s borders; if the pale demon were to penetrate inland, things would truly get troublesome.

Originally, there were slight objections by the middle and lower-level officers when the armed train took over, but watching the train master in action silenced them, and they worked more diligently than anyone.

And Su Huan just sat on the train, waiting for that figure to come.

Compared to prolonged warfare, he excelled in decisive battles.

”July 3, 2037, warming up.”

”The palm of my hand grows hot, this thing seems to be urging me.”

...

”July 4, 2037, warming up.”

”It’s unclear whether it’s because of me or if the Wind Snow Zone’s influence on areas outside Donghuang is waning, but the climate is starting to warm up.”

Su Huan stood in the armory hall, at the end of the spacious ironwood deck was a row of targets, with both cabin doors temporarily locked. A Chongying captive stood at a five hundred-meter distance from the targets, holding a modified Black Lion in his hands.

The craftsmanship of the Boss has indeed improved significantly; the originally cumbersome iron contraption has become somewhat elegant, the slender barrel locked onto the distant target, and the Chongying person pulled the trigger before switching to the next target.

Once all were shot, reports came from afar, ”Targets 1 through 5 all hit, inner ten rings!”

On the side, He Jie let out a cold snort, ”What’s that supposed to mean?”

Snatching the rifle from the Chongying person’s hands, he kicked the person away.

With a cigarette in his mouth, he loaded and shot simultaneously, achieving the same inner ten-ring results.

Turning to the experts, he spread his hands, ”What’s the difference?”

Director Xu shook his head, ”You’re a Firepower Hand, all your skills are supported in the direction of shooting, but his profession is not.”

”But he’s inherently a Tier One Evolver, the fundamental physical quality also affects the score.”

Vice President Deng supplemented on the sidelines.

Director Xu lamented, ”I know, but there were no ordinary people on the train at the time, so I had to let him test the potion...”

Luo Jingyi scrutinized the Chongying person standing obediently on the side, ”Is there any way to incapacitate him?”

”Do you think it’s some kind of extraordinary martial art...”

The old man rolled his eyes speechlessly.

Then everyone looked at the train master to the side.

This was the first test of the Genetic Transformation Potion developed by Yu Jing, and not wanting to test it on their own, Director Xu had no choice but to pick the weakest from the prison.

The transformation did have some effect, but it was a simplified potion, and most effects overlapped with those of a Tier One Evolver, only able to demonstrate major effects in shooting.

Su Huan pondered, ”So the main issue now is there are too few ordinary people?”

Lao San, watching the spectacle, had a glint in his eyes, slightly excited.

”That’s right, if there were enough ordinary people, I could quickly fathom all the attributes of this potion.”

Director Xu said.

”Do we have enough potion?” Su Huan again looked towards Yu Jing and Wan Xing on the side.

Feeling the surrounding gazes, Wan Xing shrunk his chin into his collar, ”Simplified, with ease of mass production, so long as the materials on the train suffice, there shouldn’t be a problem.”

Su Huan casually shrugged, ”Then it’s easy to handle, He Jie, go find Yuri and bring two hundred ordinary people aboard.”

”Using Mao Bear for potion testing?” He Jie suddenly saw the light, ”Brilliant!”

The crowd’s expressions relaxed, with little resistance remaining.

A group of experts remained calm; they had anticipated this, but these old foxes wouldn’t make the suggestion themselves.

Hearing that ordinary people could turn into warriors, Yuri agreed without hesitation, and even added three hundred more to the original count, making it a total of five hundred people, two hundred of which were soldiers.

When He Jie brought five hundred high-nosed and deep-eyed Mao Bear aboard, even Su Huan was taken aback.

Only then did he understand what ”not treating those below as people” truly meant.

After the apocalypse, they didn’t even bother to pretend anymore.

Given the situation, Su Huan didn’t care either; with a wave of his hand, he instructed Director Xu to administer the potion to them all.

Several hours passed, and not a single person died.

Even though the failure rate for Evolver awakening was about two percent, with failures resulting in direct zombification.

Yet this transformation potion had almost a one hundred percent success rate.

After pulling five hundred people to Director Xu’s for two days of testing, the detailed parameters of the potion appeared on Su Huan’s desk.

Using the potion, the life force consumption is only a fifth of that needed to ascend to Tier One Evolver, but correspondingly, the life force feedback received is also low, between 10% and 15% of a Tier One Evolver.

The physical quality is only marginally better than a newly awakened Evolver, roughly equating to a regularly trained warrior before the apocalypse; even among the soldiers, the impact was not significant in this regard.

The most significant change was in their grasp of firearms.

Among the five hundred, apart from the two hundred warriors, most ordinary people were not familiar with shooting, but after the injection of the potion, each became a sharpshooter, hitting targets within twenty-five meters with pistols every time, and having an 80% to 90% hit rate at thirty meters.

With submachine guns, the precision within a hundred meters was nearly one hundred percent, only decreasing beyond a hundred twenty meters.

These data may seem unremarkable, but it’s important to know that many firearm shooting distances are based on theoretical data and maximum range on the calibrations, with actual combat considerations usually based on 60% or even the lowest standards.

No one would use a handgun at a forty-meter extreme distance in combat, nor would anyone use a submachine gun to shoot at enemies one hundred fifty meters away.

The Transformation Potion can turn an ordinary person who has never touched a gun into a sharpshooter with one hundred percent accuracy within effective combat range, and that is enough.

Though it has various deficiencies, their physical qualities are not strong, with poor resistance, and hardly any special abilities besides firearm use — but —

This is five hundred people!

Given the material reserves on the train, if necessary, one could even deploy upwards of ten thousand marksmanship-excellent warriors!

This is the greatest advantage of the Transformation Potion!
