Chapter 167, Diabolical Mist Leopard

“Little Brother, please take care of Little Xuan and the others. We’re really short on manpower.” Xiang Wu suddenly turned his head and loudly called out in Qin Yichen’s direction.

Hearing these words, many of the mercenary group members were stunned. After a day of interaction, they had become somewhat familiar with Qin Yichen. However, he had not shown anything particularly extraordinary. For Xiang Wu to entrust him with this task seemed rather inappropriate.

“Don’t worry!” Qin Yichen did not mind the doubtful gazes. He habitually patted Little Xuan’s head and said with a smile.

*Roar!…* As soon as Qin Yichen finished speaking, the two grotesque Diabolical Mist Leopards in the horde of beasts surrounding the camp let out earth-shaking roars. Their roars alone made several mercenaries with slightly lower cultivation tremble violently, almost losing control.

*Roar! Roar!* The roar of the Diabolical Mist Leopards seemed like a signal to charge. Thus, when their roar fell, the blood-red colour in the eyes of nearly a hundred Demonic Beasts became even more intense. In the next instant, the entire ground seemed to tremble, and dozens of Demonic Beasts rushed towards the camp like a tidal wave, the momentum truly terrifying.

“Kill all of them!”

“Kill!”

Faced with this wave of beasts, the eyes of the mercenary group members surged with fierce bloodthirsty light. At this moment, they had no way to retreat. Only by fighting to the death could they have a chance to survive.

*Pfft!* The sharp wooden stakes around the camp pierced through the frenzied Demonic Beasts at the front, but there were too many of these Demonic Beasts. As the carcasses piled up, those simple wooden stake defences quickly became ineffective, and the following line of beasts surged in.

As the stench-carrying horde of Demonic Beasts pounced, all members of the Dawn Mercenary Group understood that the bloodiest moment of the night was about to come.

*Swish! Swish!* At this moment, the members of the Dawn Mercenary Group showed amazing tacit understanding. They formed into groups of three, each creating a small formation.

The sharp swords in their hands, wrapped in Yuan Energy, directly pierced through the pouncing Demonic Beasts. Dark red blood instantly dyed the ground, and the smell of blood and the sound of shrill howls spread throughout the forest.

Looking at the defence line built by the bodies of the Dawn Mercenary Group members, a cruel and cunning light flashed in the red beast eyes of the two Diabolical Mist Leopards.

The two beasts simultaneously moved their huge bodies, darting towards the centre of the camp as fast as lightning. With their strength, no matter how well-coordinated the Dawn Mercenary Group members were, they would not be able to stop them.

*Bang!* Xiang Wu, who had been keeping a close eye on the two Diabolical Mist Leopards, saw this and his face changed dramatically. The black sword in his hand burst out Sword Qi, directly cleaving two Demonic Beasts in front of him in half.

He stepped forward, his figure landing in the path of the two charging Diabolical Mist Leopards. Immediately, the Yuan Energy in his body surged out without reservation, striking down with an angry chop.

Under this strike, a powerful Yuan Energy wave suddenly burst out. Wherever the large sword passed, the ground would be torn up with a deep layer of soil, finally striking hard on the bodies of the two Diabolical Mist Leopards.

*Clang!* The crisp sound of metal clashing rang out far into the night. The vigorous Yuan Energy exploded on the bodies of the two Diabolical Mist Leopards. The force that suddenly burst out had actually suppressed the charge of the two Diabolical Mist Leopards.

*Roar!…* Suffering from the attack, both Diabolical Mist Leopards let out angry roars. Their blood-red beast eyes fixed on Xiang Wu. In the next instant, they turned into two beast shadows, fiercely charging towards Xiang Wu.

At this moment, Xiang Wu was already the last line of defence, with nowhere to retreat. He gritted his teeth, gripping the black sword in his hand tightly.

The Yuan Energy in his body was pushed to the extreme. From his appearance, he seemed to be planning to forcibly confront the two Diabolical Mist Leopards.

However, Xiang Wu did not see that the two Diabolical Mist Leopards seemed to exchange a ‘Human-like’ glance. Just as they were about to collide with Xiang Wu, the Diabolical Mist Leopard on the left suddenly made a turn, directly darting towards the centre of the camp behind Xiang Wu. Its target was obvious – the Beast Soul on Little Xuan!

If they could swallow that Beast Soul, they might even have a chance to become the kings of this Misty Forest!

“You beast! How dare you!?” Seeing this, Xiang Wu’s eyes bulged with rage. He gritted his teeth and actually ignored the Diabolical Mist Leopard pouncing towards him, swinging his large sword to chop at the one darting past him.

*Roar!* Sensing the threat from behind, that Diabolical Mist Leopard also roared, its body forced to dodge.

*Howl!…* Meanwhile, the other Diabolical Mist Leopard had already darted behind Xiang Wu. Even though Xiang Wu tried his best to dodge, he was still struck by its claw, tearing open the skin and flesh on his back.

A mouthful of fresh blood spurted violently from his mouth.

“Dad!” Seeing Xiang Wu injured, Xiang Ya, who was fiercely battling with the Demonic Beasts, cried out anxiously. Beside Qin Yichen, Xiang Xuan’s big eyes also began to tear up.

*Roar!* The injured Xiang Wu had temporarily intercepted the two Demonic Beasts, but just one Diabolical Mist Leopard was already more than he could handle. The other Diabolical Mist Leopard had already broken through his defence line and was pouncing towards Xiang Xuan in the exposed centre of the camp behind him.

This sudden turn of events caught Xiang Wu off guard. His face immediately turned extremely ugly. Even if he anxiously wanted to go back to help, the other Diabolical Mist Leopard was already keeping him too busy to break away.

“Little Xuan, be careful, quickly retreat!” With no other choice, Xiang Wu could only shout out a warning in a miserable voice. As he shouted, a graceful figure suddenly flashed out.

It was Xiang Ya!

“Little Ya, quickly dodge!”

Seeing Xiang Ya suddenly appear in the path of the Diabolical Mist Leopard, several mercenaries anxiously cried out.

However, Xiang Ya ignored their shouts. Biting her lip tightly, she showed no intention of retreating.

She understood in her heart that she was no match for this Diabolical Mist Leopard, but she also understood that if she retreated, Xiang Xuan behind her… would not survive.

*Swish!*

Xiang Ya’s sword danced, thrusting towards the pouncing Diabolical Mist Leopard. However, the latter just casually swung its claw, knocking the sword out of her hand.

Xiang Ya herself staggered backward, finally falling on her buttocks. Her pretty face went pale as she looked at the grotesque Leopard rapidly enlarging in her eyes.
