Alchemy Master

Chapter 156, Cold Reception from Family

Qin Haoran could not refuse Shu Xin’s kind offer, and having a Martial Grandmaster as a guard by his side could also make many things more convenient.

Although the Royal City seemed peaceful now, there were actually quite a few foolish privileged children running rampant on the streets.

A Martial Grandmaster guard was a symbol of status!

Immediately, Qin Haoran took a deep breath and strode along the street towards a remote area of the Royal City.

The Qin Family Residence, located among a cluster of uneven buildings on a high ground at the northernmost edge of Heavenly Unicorn City.

The mansions in this area mostly belonged to some insignificant Families or fallen Nobles.

Of course, this neighbourhood was still quite lively.

Although their status was not high, most of them were still above ordinary people, so they had a level of self-importance to them. Every day, these people liked to gather together, boasting and talking about their glorious past.

“Back in the day, when I was working under Chairman Lu He, the chairman’s casual rewards were worth hundreds or thousands of silver coins every day…”

For example, in a small tavern now, there was a group of people surrounding a man wearing a somewhat faded white robe. At this moment, he was pointing at his faded white robe, full of pride, “See this? This was personally bestowed upon me by the current King!”

Then a bunch of people expressed disbelief.

It was followed by a series of arguments.

That man’s face turned red and his neck swelled.

“If it wasn’t for me making a mistake while drinking back then…”

He was arguing loudly when a familiar voice came from behind, “Old Wu!”

“You… aren’t you Young Master Qin? Why have you come back?”

The middle-aged man turned around, pointing at Qin Haoran. He thought for a moment, then slapped his forehead and exclaimed.

“Fallen leaves return to their roots, how could I not come back?” Qin Haoran smiled bitterly. In fact, he felt very guilty towards Old Wu in front of him.

Back then, if it was not for Old Wu escorting him and his Wife out of the city, how would he have missed Lu He’s important business?

The past makes one sigh with emotion.

Qin Haoran felt that even if he had to be thick-skinned, he should mention this matter to his Son. He believed that with Qin Yichen’s current status, it would not be difficult to restore Old Wu to his original position.

“Brother Wu.” Du Binglan behind him also bowed slightly to Old Wu.

“Oh, so you’ve brought the whole Family, the young couple is planning to come back for good, eh?” After the initial surprise, although Old Wu was reeking of alcohol, he frowned.

Wanting to warn about something, in the end he just patted Qin Haoran’s shoulder and said. “If you don’t have a place to stay yet, come to my place. Although it’s not big, it’s a place to rest!”

His words were actually a warning to Qin Haoran that returning to the Qin Family might not be so simple.

This was a true friend, a kindred spirit!

“We’ll definitely come by later!” Qin Haoran’s eyes reddened slightly. After bidding farewell to Old Wu, he headed towards the Qin Family Residence.

Along the way, no one paid attention to him.

After all, he had been gone for over a decade, and there had been quite a change.

At this time, in front of the Qin Family Residence stood a listless guard, leaning against the old-looking main gate, appearing drowsy.

It was not much. This guard was not even a Martial Master. Standing here was just for show, merely to maintain their status.

This also showed that the Qin Family’s Old Master was a person who cared a lot about face!

However, obviously, this listless guard could not uphold the face of the Qin Family.

Following the route in his memory, Qin Haoran finally arrived outside the Qin Family Residence.

Looking at the familiar gate before him, he could not help but feel nervous, along with some joy and anticipation of returning home.

“Brother, I am Qin Haoran. Please trouble yourself to inform the Patriarch that Qin Haoran has returned.”

Suppressing his complex emotions, under Du Binglan’s encouraging gaze, Qin Haoran walked up to the drowsy guard. Perhaps due to his emotional fluctuations, his voice was somewhat trembling.

“Qin Haoran?” The guard first forced himself to be alert, then looked at the stranger before him, his eyes showing confusion as he asked, “What relation are you to the Qin Family?”

Someone of the previous Young Master’s generation should be of the same generation as the current Patriarch! By rights, if there really was such a person, he should be aware of it.

“Qin Baihe is my Father.” Qin Haoran took a deep breath and slowly said.

“The Old Patriarch’s Son?” Upon hearing this, the Qin Family guard immediately straightened his previously lazy posture, all sleepiness gone.

However, his eyes still held confusion.

He had been a guard at the Qin Family for several years, how come he had never seen Qin Haoran?

But looking closely, this person did indeed bear some resemblance to the current Patriarch Qin Haomin.

“Wait here, I’ll go report this right away.” The guard did not dare to confirm Qin Haoran’s identity. He politely said to Qin Haoran and prepared to go in and report.

Just then, a scolding voice came from inside the Qin Family Residence, “Don’t report it. My Father is discussing important matters with honoured guests. Just drive them away. These days, all sorts of people dare to come and falsely claim to be part of our Qin Family!”

The Qin Family had finally met an important person. If they could establish a connection with this important figure, the Qin Family would surely prosper in the future, and might even do some major business.

This news had spread.

As a result, there has been no shortage of people coming to the Qin Family Residence claiming to be their relatives.

Hearing this voice, although he had not seen the person yet, Qin Haoran immediately recognized it and hurriedly called towards the gate, “Nephew Qin Yu, I’m your Second Uncle!”

*Creak!* As soon as Qin Haoran’s words fell, the old gate opened.

A young man wearing a cyan robe, accompanied by several guards, walked out from inside. Their manner of walking did not look like they were coming to welcome anyone.

Qin Haoran frowned, but still asked, “Nephew Qin Yu, it’s been many years since we last met. You’ve grown so big. How are Father and Older Brother doing?”

“How dare you! Nephew? Who’s your Nephew?”

Hearing Qin Haoran’s words, the young man raised his eyebrows and shouted angrily, “Qin Haoran, I remember you. If it wasn’t for you marrying that wench back then, how could our Qin Family have fallen to such a state?! I didn’t expect you to shamelessly come back, are you trying to anger Grandfather to death!?”

This young man was the current Young Master of the Qin Family, and also the Son of Qin Haoran’s Older Brother, Qin Haomin.

However, towards this Second Uncle before him, Qin Yu showed not the slightest respect. Instead, his tone was full of disdain and contempt. Because only he knew how hard it had been to attain his current position as the Young Master of the Qin Family.
