Chapter 166, Beast Attack

Translator: Silavin

Beast Soul was the Core left behind after the death of a Demonic Beast at the Spirit Realm or above.

Spirit Realm and above!

In fact, even Spirit Realm Demonic Beasts might not necessarily generate a Beast Soul. It depends on whether the Demonic Beast has a Demonic Soul.

A Demonic Beast’s Demonic Soul was actually equivalent to the Martial Soul of a Human Soul Martial Artist!

Soul Martial Artists were extremely rare in the Human world. At least, up until now, Qin Yichen had never encountered a single Soul Martial Artist.

They were truly rare existences.

The Beast Soul hanging around Little Xuan’s neck was actually left behind by a Soul Martial Artist equivalent Demonic Beast(Martial Soul Demonic Beast) at the Spirit Realm or above.

Within the Beast Soul, not only was there the Blood Essence left by the Demonic Beast before its death, but it also contains its Residual Soul. If a lower-level Demonic Beast could devour the Beast Soul, it might even undergo a mutation, becoming much stronger.

Moreover, Demonic Beasts naturally have a special sense for Beast Souls. Carrying such a Beast Soul in the Misty Forest was like a fatal temptation for those Demonic Beasts.

[No wonder the Dawn Mercenary Group suffered so many suicidal attacks from the Demonic Beasts.]

Of course, for Martial Artists, consuming the Blood Essence within the Beast Soul would also have a very significant body tempering effect. However, the premise was that they were able to withstand the violent Residual Soul within the Blood Essence.

However, the violent Residual Soul left by Demonic Beasts was not something everyone could withstand.

With his memories of his previous life, Qin Yichen also knew some other uses for Beast Souls.

For example, Beast Souls have a great nourishing effect on Soul Martial Artists, and could even enhance their Martial Souls. This was the reason why Soul Martial Artists were so powerful.

If they could refine Beast Souls with Special Attributes, their Martial Souls would become even more powerful.

Of course, what Qin Yichen was most curious about was where Little Xuan got this Beast Soul from?

It was worth noting that even in the Central Province, Beast Souls were extremely rare. Not all Martial Soul Demonic Beasts leave behind a Beast Soul after death. Moreover, with the strength of the Dawn Mercenary Group, they absolutely would not be able to confront a Martial Soul Demonic Beast at the Spirit Realm or above!

Although Qin Yichen was curious about this, he could not deep in too deep. He could only quietly wait for things to develop.

As they progressed, night fell silently under everyone’s tense gaze.

Visibility became even lower in the Misty Forest under the night sky. Even with the illumination of torches, one’s vision was limited to a certain range.

Trying to travel in such conditions would undoubtedly be extremely dangerous.

So, after it became completely dark, Xiang Wu arranged for the mercenary group to set up camp on the spot.

In just a moment, the experienced mercenaries had surrounded the campsite with sharp wooden spikes. More than ten mercenaries sat cross-legged inside the camp, their hands tightly gripping their swords.

The entire camp was unusually quiet, with only the crackling sound of sparks from the campfire.

Qin Yichen sat cross-legged in the centre of the group. Beside him were Xiang Xuan and two wounded members. He was the only one in the camp whose eyes remained consistently calm.

Thick mist enveloped the forest. Suddenly, a nauseating bloody wind subtly permeated the air.

“They’re coming!” Qin Yichen gently stroked Little Xuan’s head and softly whispered.

*Rustle, rustle…* As soon as he spoke, there were sudden rustling sounds in the mist-filled forest. Then, pairs of blood-red beast eyes appeared in everyone’s vision.

Seeing the suddenly appearing Demonic Beasts, the faces of the Dawn Mercenary Group members became solemn. One by one, the mercenaries stood up, drawing their swords.

The number of Demonic Beasts gathering around increased as time passed. In just about ten minutes, dozens of pairs of blood-red beast eyes had appeared in the mist, and it seems like the numbers were still increasing.

Looking at so many Demonic Beasts around them, even Qin Yichen’s eyes flashed with a trace of surprise.

[Seems like the Beast Soul in Little Xuan’s possession is of an extremely high level.]

Little Xuan, who was beside Qin Yichen, after seeing so many Demonic Beasts appear around them, had her face turn pale with fear. One of her small hands was tightly clutching Qin Yichen’s clothes, as if it was the only thing that could give her a sense of security.

She could feel that all those gazes were fixed on her.

*Boom! Boom!* Shortly after these Demonic Beasts appeared, the ground suddenly trembled. Then, two extremely fierce auras appeared from within the mist.

“Second level Peak Martial Grandmaster Demonic Beasts!”

Upon sensing these two fierce auras, the faces of the Dawn Mercenary Group members turned pale, and even Xiang Wu’s eyes became extremely gloomy.

The trembling of the ground came closer and closer in the mist. Finally, two huge and ferocious Demonic Beasts appeared under the illumination of the firelight.

Seeing the blood-red and Demonic Beast eyes of these two grotesque Demonic Beasts, the hearts of everyone in the Dawn Mercenary Group violently trembled. Even Xiang Ya beside Xiang Wu had her delicate body shivering.

“Second level Peak Stage Diabolical Mist Leopards…” Qin Yichen’s gaze swept over the two Demonic Beasts with fierce auras and grotesque appearances.

These two beasts were ferocious. They must have been coveting the Beast Soul around Little Xuan’s neck for a long time.

“Everyone be careful!” Looking at the Demonic Beast group surrounding the camp, and then at the two Diabolical Mist Leopards in the centre, Xiang Wu was completely solemn.

Fortunately, their Dawn Mercenary Group was a team that had been fighting for survival on the edge of death. If they were an ordinary mercenary group, they would probably have panicked by now.

Panic would be equivalent to a slow death!

“Old Liu, lead them to protect the camp!”

“Yes!” Liu Zhen responded with a solemn expression, his large knife flashing with cold light, wrapped in vigorous Yuan Energy.

“Captain, what about those two big ones?” A mercenary from the Dawn Mercenary Group asked.

Xiang Wu was silent for a moment, then gritted his teeth and said in a deep voice, “I’ll hold them off alone. You guys need to quickly clear out the other Demonic Beasts!”

“Captain!” Hearing that Xiang Wu actually wanted to intercept those two Diabolical Mist Leopards alone, the faces of the Dawn Mercenary Group members changed dramatically.

“Don’t argue! If you don’t want me to die, then quickly clear out the rest and then come help me out!” Xiang Wu shouted.

“Yes!” Hearing this, the members of the Dawn Mercenary Group gripped their weapons even tighter, and finally responded in low voices.

This was also why they were willing to wholeheartedly follow Xiang Wu.

Every time there was danger, Xiang Wu always stood at the front, himself.
