Chapter 876: Chapter 320: Consecutive Kills (Combined Chapter)

Inside the empire camp at Fishing Port Town.

Viscount Felk’s face turned serious, saying: “Lord Rein, is the situation so severe that you need to go there personally?”

Rein nodded and said: “Yes! I suspect it might very well be the people from the Secret Snake Sect.”

“Secret Snake Sect? I’ve heard that this cult’s main area of activity is within seven or eight provinces in the central empire. Why would they come to Mingster this time?”

“However… I’ve heard that this cult is very powerful and not easy to deal with. No wonder, Lord Rein, you want to go personally.”

Viscount Felk had already begun to look at Rein with new eyes.

Especially the moment when Prince Menia presented the Dragon Scale to him, Felk knew that the young Viscount Rein before him, if he didn’t die prematurely, would inevitably become a legendary strongman of the empire in the future. Naturally, it was wise to make his acquaintance early.

“Well… Lord Rein, in that case, I’ll have my adjutant accompany you specially right now.”

“The patrolling Griffin Knights have just set out not long ago. They’ll probably take nearly an hour to return.”

“Alright, then I’ll trouble Lord Felk.” Rein expressed his gratitude.

Immediately, Rein had no desire to linger at the banquet, so after greeting the major general responsible for the camp, he went over to his team members.

“Everyone, I need to head to Meist County City immediately. The people from the Secret Snake Sect may have appeared.”

The people were taken aback upon hearing this, and then started talking all at once.

“So soon? Wasn’t it said that they’d concealed their tracks before?”

“Is it appropriate for the captain to go alone?”

“Yes, perhaps we should set out together right now!”

…

Rein glanced at everyone; unlike him, they couldn’t recover by simply adding points, so even Neoro and the others, who weren’t injured, looked quite fatigued.

After all, the battle with the Blood Curse Naga was no easy task for them!

And as for the injured Remiel and others, even more so.

Therefore, Rein waved his hand and said: “There’s no rush for you all. I’ll take the Griffin over first; you can come over tomorrow morning after recuperating well.”

“Captain, you must be careful!”

“Yes!” Rein nodded.

Meanwhile, Rein also saw Anna in the crowd, her big eyes looking at him with a sense of loss.

Thinking about it, Rein approached Anna, ruffled her hair, smiled, and said: “Don’t worry! Anna, don’t you believe in my strength?”

“Please come over tomorrow morning, okay?”

“Yes!” Rein’s intimate gesture immediately swept away Anna’s previous disappointment, and she nodded shyly without saying anything else.

…

When Rein arrived at the Griffin station, he discovered that Felk’s adjutant was surprisingly a rare female Great Knight, with golden hair and a lovely face.

This made him quite surprised!

“Lord Rein, I am Julie, Viscount Felk’s adjutant.” Julie approached initiative.

“Hello Julie, much appreciated.”

“It’s my honor to serve you! Lord Rein, should we depart now?”

“Yes!”

Sitting atop the Griffin, Rein wasn’t in the mood to chat with Julie; instead, he focused his attention on the system panel.

During the battle with Celinis, Rein noticed that the Intermediate Secret Technique ‘Shadow Step’ had high applicability and could be combined with attacks from various weapons.

Although the Shadow Step worked best when wielding light weapons like daggers or Finger Tigers, it could also be performed while wielding heavy weapons, with the only downside being a reduction in the number of phantoms and a weakened effect.

“But this can actually be compensated by enhancing the Secret Technique’s level.”

“If the Shadow Step is elevated to Advanced Secret Skill, wielding a Riding Spear or Dual-Handed Warhammer should still maintain at least five phantoms.” Rein thought to himself.

After a brief thought, Rein glanced at the remaining 22 Golden Skill Points on his attribute panel and decided to upgrade ‘Shadow Step’ to an Advanced Secret Skill.

“Since there’s likely to be another battle soon, there’s no need to hoard too many Golden Skill Points.”

Given that the Fire Dragon Breathing Technique was already at lv18, significantly exceeding the prerequisites for elevating ‘Shadow Step’ to an Advanced Secret Skill,

Rein used up two Golden Skill Points to enhance Barrack’s Assassination Dance Steps and another two points to break through. The system notification chimed:

[Congratulations, you have mastered Barrack’s Assassination Dance Steps Advanced Secret Skill: Shadow Step!]

Though the name didn’t change, the icon for ‘Shadow Step’ on the Weapon Master (Legendary) panel underwent a significant alteration.

Inside the icon, the thin man who was attacking with a dagger now appeared as seven figures, each with a different attack posture, vividly lifelike.

This meant that, besides the real person, the number of phantoms increased from four to six.

This detail was confirmed again in the text description for the Advanced Secret Skill:

Shadow Step (Advanced Secret Skill) Effect: Performs a special footwork integrating Original Force and leg strength, leaving six additional phantoms within a ten-meter radius, confusing the enemy.

(Note: Phantoms do not possess attack power.)

(To upgrade Shadow Step to Top Secret Technique, the following conditions must be met: 1. Barrack’s Assassination Dance Steps lv18 or higher (proficiency can offset some level requirements); 2. Fire Dragon Breathing Technique lv16 or higher; 3. Strength over 40 points, agility over 45 points, constitution over 42 points; 4. Consumption of 4 Golden Skill Points.)
