Chapter 746: Chapter 287: Two Moves (2 in 1 Long Chapter)_3

“Very well, Lord Rein, then I shall take my leave.”

“Godspeed!”

…

—————–

Mingster, third floor of the Yakesen Auction House.

Within a resplendent study.

Viscount Fabien and Asani welcomed a prestigious guest from the Imperial City, the younger brother of Marquis O’Lence—Drake O’Lence.

Their arrival was, of course, unexpected for both men.

Fabien thought that the main branch would probably send someone to apologize to Rein, but he hadn’t expected such a person… Obviously not someone who had come to apologize.

The Ancient Giant Trolls’ fangs had a special significance to Marquis O’Lence; it seemed, they would be difficult to procure from elsewhere in short order, which was why Drake O’Lence had come himself.

“Viscount Fabien, I must trouble you to deliver this invitation to the hands of an old friend at the Mingster Sword Bearers Branch.” The middle-aged man in noble hunting attire said with a smile, handing over an ornate invitation to Viscount Fabien.

“Certainly, Lord Drake, I will personally make the trip.” After receiving it, Fabien promptly left the room and climbed onto a carriage.

Out of curiosity, he glanced inside the invitation where it was addressed to ‘Dear Stanley…’

Stanley?

He had heard of the man, seemingly a high-ranking member of the Sword Bearers Branch.

…

Half an hour later.

“Hmm? Drake has come to Mingster?” Colonel Stanley frowned upon receiving the invitation.

His relationship with Drake was good, but not to the extent that the other would come to Mingster just to see him; they were former classmates at the Imperial Royal Academy.

“If it’s not a casual visit, then he must have business with me. But what matter here could I assist him with?”

The Sword Bearer organization deals almost exclusively with official matters, and all tasks originate from official channels.

…

Soon, the two men met.

After some pleasantries, Drake said with a smile, “Stanley, I have a small favor to ask of you, my old classmate.”

“Drake, with your status and position, if you can’t solve a problem, how could I possibly be of help?” Stanley said with a smile in return.

“Heh, this matter happens to be within your purview, so…”

“Oh? Within my purview? The Mingster Sword Bearers Branch?” Stanley’s smile faded.

He hadn’t expected that his old classmate Drake actually needed his assistance.

“Yes.”

“In the next few days, perhaps even today or tomorrow, a Sword Bearer from the Mingster Branch might die in an accident. However, this matter will need you to exert some pressure to prevent wider repercussions.” Drake hinted.

“Hmm?” Stanley’s expression turned serious. After thinking for a moment, he asked, “Is there no possibility of negotiation?”

“There’s hardly any chance left. Moreover, this request does not come from me, but from my brother Marquis O’Lence. Old classmate, I’m counting on you.”

Marquis O’Lence, huh?

Stanley fell silent. Naturally, he was reluctant to get involved in such matters.

But sometimes there was no choice.

Like how the imperial nobility are a privileged class compared to commoners.

However, within the nobility itself, there are ranks and distinctions. Those high up, with a long heritage among the great nobility, hold privileges within privileges—hereditary Dukes, Marquises, they are part of the highest echelon.

“Then you must ensure proper compensation is arranged. You have my reluctant agreement.” Stanley sighed and nodded reluctantly.

“Of course, I wouldn’t make things difficult for you, my old classmate.” Seeing Stanley’s acquiescence, Drake nodded in satisfaction with a smile.

Suddenly, Stanley thought of something.

He asked, “By the way, old classmate, what’s the name of the Sword Bearer?”

“Don’t worry, it’s not a senior with significant influence, just a newcomer, although I hear the strength is quite good.” Drake mentioned casually.

Stanley’s expression changed!

A newcomer?

Upon hearing this word, he immediately thought of someone.

The strength is quite good?

The corners of Stanley’s eyes began to twitch slightly.

It couldn’t be!

His expression turned grave as he fixed his gaze on Drake, asking urgently, “Drake, don’t tell me his name is Rein?”

“Hmm? How did you know?” Drake was taken aback!

He immediately assumed that Stanley must have recruited the new Sword Bearer, perhaps offering the latter to become his follower or something of the sort.

“Damn!”

Stanley’s face turned ashen as he suddenly stood up and cursed.

Ever since he became the secretary to Admiral Edward, it had been a long time since he had let slip such profanity.

“Drake! Do you have any idea what you are doing!”

…

Meanwhile.

In Meist County City, Earl Habs Mansion.

In Cleya’s study.

“Cleya, I have something I’d like to consult about involving bloodline breathing techniques.”

“What’s the difference between bloodline breathing techniques and other breathing techniques? Before I try to merge them, I need to understand more about the bloodline breathing techniques, as I currently have no knowledge of them,” said Rein, considering he had enough Golden Skill Points to proceed at any time.

“Of course, regarding…” Just as Cleya began to explain, Rein suddenly interrupted her.

“Cleya, I suddenly remembered, Count Habs seemed to be looking for you just now, why don’t you go and see him first, and we can talk when you’re free.” Rein suggested.

“Hmm?” Cleya looked at Rein with confusion, but seemed to grasp something the next second, nodded, and left the room.
