Chapter 723: Chapter 281 Utilization of Waste (Two in One Large Chapter)_4

“Hmm? Escaped?” Admiral Edward, clad in a military officer’s uniform, raised an eyebrow, finding it a bit hard to believe the outcome.

Because he understood that regarding whatever was sealed behind the Sealing Gate, the upper echelons of the Empire should have been aware.

Moreover, ever since the news of the Sealing Gate was reported, it was said that the Empire had already started making preparations and had sent an Imperial Guardian here.

Yet, incredibly, they still let the other party escape.

“Which Imperial Guardian came this time?”

“It was Dragon Knight Menia, sir.”

“Eh? The ‘Red Queen’ herself? I can’t believe that even she couldn’t capture that magical three-headed sea dragon!”

As an admiral of the Empire, Edward naturally knew about Menia’s background.

She was the current Empire Emperor’s aunt and her steed was an adult female red dragon, covered in red scales. Combined with Menia’s royal status, that was why she was honored with the title ‘Red Queen’.

In the ranks of Imperial Guardians, she was also counted as one of the top-level powerhouses.

Unexpectedly, even she failed.

“Yes, it is said this magical three-headed sea dragon has gained a trace of divinity, likely favored by some Evil God, hence…” Colonel Stanley explained.

“A divine being? No wonder!” Admiral Edward’s face showed comprehension; however, the crow’s feet at the corner of his eyes deepened.

“Yes, sir.”

“Times of trouble…” Edward couldn’t help but sigh.

This pointed out that the situation the Empire was facing had gradually slipped out of imperial control; otherwise, even if the three-headed dragon was a divine creature, it wouldn’t have been possible for it to escape.

“Do Duke Mingster and Archbishop Gomez know about this matter?

“Duke Mingster should be aware, Archbishop Gomez probably doesn’t know yet.”

“Hmm, inform Archbishop Gomez, tell them to be more vigilant.”

“As you command, sir.”

“And, what did the higher-ups say?”

“Uh… the order from above is for us to diversify our branches, to issue more assignments related to the Sea Clan and the Sea God Sect, aiding the operations of the Empire’s navy and army.”

“Hmm, carry it out as instructed.”

—————–

Meister County.

In the garden of Earl Habbs Mansion.

The secret agent planted by the Black Flame Cult within Earl Habbs Mansion was busily shoveling soil into the large hole dug by the Legendary Earth Snake.

After more than an hour, his forehead was already covered with fine beads of sweat.

“Yo, Aria, you’re quite diligent today, haven’t rested at all.”

“Uh…” The agent, under the alias Aria, clearly didn’t wish to engage in banter with a fellow guard.

Because at this moment, his mood was in shambles.

He did not expect the Cult’s meticulously planned attack to end this way!

And when he saw Raksul die at Rein’s hands, he felt a chill to his core.

Fortunately, he had not immediately turned traitor when the attack happened.

Otherwise, he’d be lying on the ground, too.

He made up his mind to lay low for a while and not to pass any messages or intel back to the Cult.

After the deaths of Raksul and another Black Flame Guardian at Rein’s hands, in truth, the remaining elite members of the Cult did not know his real identity.

…

After much effort, the massive hole was finally filled almost completely.

Aria wiped the beads of sweat from his forehead and looked at his ‘work’, feeling quite satisfied.

Suddenly, he sensed something amiss, as the ground beneath his feet, which had just been filled in, seemed to quiver slightly.

“Hm? Could it be the Earth Snake coming again? Find Rein, not me!” Upon noticing the change, Aria’s face paled, and he turned to leave the pit.

But in an instant, an unexpected terror struck!

All at once, loose soil sprayed in all directions and a thick, desiccated gray-white arm suddenly reached out from the ground, grabbing onto his ankle!

In an instant, Aria felt a bone-chilling cold shoot from his tailbone straight to the back of his head!

“Swoosh!”

The next second, Aria disappeared from his spot.

Aria was yanked by a powerful force, dragged from the surface straight into the ground.

And the mound that had been filled showed a small hole less than a meter in diameter.

The guards who witnessed this suddenly changed their expression!
