Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys

Chapter 742: Chapter 286: Impact Diffusion (Two-in-One Large Chapter)_3

With a low incantation, Rein had just cast a “Sharpness Technique” on his newly transformed dual-handed greatsword.

The pale silver glow was also more intense than before.

This meant that the “Sharpness Technique” was more effective!

“It seems that the next step is to find more metal-based witchcraft,” Rein mused to himself.

At that moment, Rein suddenly looked up toward the door of the training room.

He saw a familiar, graceful figure entering his field of vision.

It was none other than Cleya.

“As expected of someone who killed a legendary foe, Rein, your perception is indeed sharp. You noticed me as soon as I came in,” Cleya said with a teasing smile.

However, Rein could sense that despite her beautiful face, there was a faint hint of fatigue.

“Miss Cleya, have you finished your duties?”

“Yes, for the time being. I’ve just taken care of the aftermath for the injured and fallen guards. I also finished dealing with the issue of those tunnel entrances in the garden, arranging for people to fill them in overnight,” Cleya briefly explained the tasks she had just handled.

“I’ve also coordinated with the Gryphon Squadron at Fishing Port Town, hoping they will increase the frequency of aerial patrols…”

Rein nodded repeatedly as he listened.

Cleya usually had a lot of trifles to manage, especially after this battle, which had kept her extremely busy.

With Count Habbs of the Habus family, the highest Governor of Meister, severely injured, Cleya had to manage not only the family’s affairs but also the political responsibilities of the whole County of Meister.

Fortunately, Cleya had been trained in handling governmental affairs from a young age, so taking over was not overly chaotic for her.

“Rein, you’ve just been through such an intense battle today; won’t you rest a bit? No wonder, Rein, you’ve made such tremendous progress in such a short time.”

“Talent is a prerequisite, but your diligence puts most others out of reach,” Cleya couldn’t help but exclaim.

Still, she had many doubts, such as the witchcraft Rein used that could absorb souls, and the type that could draw life force from his war pets to heal injuries.

Where had Rein learned all these?

It did not seem like something that could be learned from the Sword Bearers.

Perhaps… it was a fortuitous adventure.

“Er… this, thank you, Miss Cleya. But I’m not as diligent as you imagine,” Rein said with a smile.

“By the way, Rein, just call me Cleya from now on.”

“And about that mark Prince Meinya mentioned, are you feeling any discomfort?” Cleya stepped closer, looking apologetically at Rein with her beautiful eyes.

“Don’t worry, Cleya. When I get back to Mingster, I’ll visit the Monsoon and Goddess Church. I think it should be all right,” Rein assured her.

“Rein, thanks to your bravery, the Habus family was spared from calamity. Without you, not only my father but also I might have…”

“Here is a breathing technique of excellent level, ‘Fire Gekko Breathing Technique.’ Except for the Habus family bloodline breathing technique, it’s the only one of excellent level that I’ve collected.”

“I’m not asking you to change your breathing technique; that cost is too great and the risk too high. I’d like you to have a look, perhaps with your extraordinary Knight talent, you’ll find some inspiration.”

“Had I known you possessed such a strong talent, I would not have taught you the Giant Bear Breathing Technique back then. It really is a waste of your Knight talent. I do not wish for the breathing technique to be the weakness that prevents you from reaching Legendary status.” Cleya spoke and from her bosom drew a pale yellow scroll, which she handed to Rein.

“This… All right, thank you.” Rein thought about it and then accepted the scroll recording the ‘Fire Gekko Breathing Technique.’

Rein was no longer a novice; naturally, he understood the manifold issues involved with changing breathing techniques.

The biggest issue was that the body had already become accustomed to the original breathing technique and had taken corresponding magic potions to step into the transcendent. Starting anew would involve adaptability problems.

Those who were lucky, or whose bodies could withstand the change, might waste a few years but still have a chance to start over. However, for most, it resulted in failure with a drastic reduction in strength.

Nevertheless, Rein had been considering looking for an excellent level breathing technique at the Sword Bearers Branch to serve as a reference, but it had been postponed due to the exchange of witchcraft.

Unexpectedly, Cleya had prepared one for him this time.

Moreover, when Rein was still a young servant, he was already very grateful that Cleya had taught him the Giant Bear Breathing Technique.

Indeed, it was by relying on the Giant Bear Breathing Technique that, with the assistance of the ‘Paw of the King Ironmane Bear’ magic potion, Rein awakened two transcendent traits, ‘Huge Strength’ and ‘Steel Body.’

These are the predecessors to his present talents ‘Intermediate Giant Force’ and ‘Advanced Steel Body.’

“Rein, tonight’s moon is beautiful,” Cleya said as she walked to the window of the training room and looked up at the night sky.

“Indeed, it is beautiful.” Rein suddenly realized that he had been in this world for so long but had never really taken a good look at the moon.

The moon in this world was larger than in his previous life, but because of distance, there were no visible spots, making it seem even more pristine.

Neither spoke again, choosing to quietly observe the night sky together.

…

The next day, at dawn, as the first light appeared.

Through the window, Rein could see that the garden, which had been left pitted and marred by the battle, was now smoothed out. While fresh flowers and shrubs had not yet been replanted, the row of trees in the corner of the garden remained lush and verdant.
