Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys

Chapter 721: 281

Many guards whispered among themselves:

“Hey, do you guys think… why does Lord Reine love using his warhammer to smash his enemies’ heads so much?”

“It makes such a bloody and brain-spattered mess, it’s really nauseating to look at.”

“Scared, huh? Good! Being scared is the right response!”

“Lord Reine must want to intimidate his enemies with this way of fighting!” a young guard said with a know-it-all expression.

The other guards glanced at each other and instantly showed an expression of sudden realization.

“Exactly! That must be it.”

“It’s just that… with this being the case, I don’t think his old nickname ‘Meister Siege Hammer’ is suitable anymore.”

“Right, what do you guys think about calling him ‘Skull Crusher’ instead?”

“That fits well. Agreed,” a guard nodded in approval.

“Agreed!”

…

At this moment, Langgeler, too, walked over with his wounded body.

He first looked at Ganon’s body with shock, then at Reine, and exclaimed, “Lord Reine, your strength is really–!”

While speaking, Langgeler made a thumbs-up gesture.

Just now, their Blade Squad three had joined forces against this Ganon but were completely crushed in less than a minute!

Yet when Ganon faced Lord Reine, he also ended up a headless corpse in roughly the same amount of time!

This left Langgeler at a loss for what to say!

Both were golden-level Sword Bearers and team captains, but the disparity between them was just too great.

The conclusion was all too clear and obvious, given the nearly identical conditions and time frame of the comparisons.

Of course, Langgeler’s compliment was not because he was skilled at flattering and fawning, but because while Sword Bearers enjoyed very good treatment in many respects, there was one condition—that one had to come back alive after a mission.

So within the Sword Bearers, there was a great respect for those with strong abilities.

Because sometimes, having a strong companion lend a hand could be the difference between life and death.

“Captain Langgeler, you flatter me. Without the three of you holding him off, Ganon might have discovered that Holdan was already dead sooner and would have immediately ordered the Earth Snake to destroy the villa,” Reine said.

Upon hearing Reine’s words, Langgeler felt as sweet as if he had drunk honey!

He was well aware of their situation as three.

Despite their full effort, they were beaten like dead dogs by Ganon, but in Lord Reine’s words, they had put up a valiant resistance with significant impact.

Listen, that’s emotional intelligence!

“By the way, Captain Langgeler, as a matter of fact, I have a question for you. What is the greatest difference between a Quasi-Legendary or Legendary and us Great Knights?” Reine asked.

“Huh? Lord Reine, you haven’t researched this?” Langgeler looked at Reine in surprise.

In his view, someone like Reine, who was about to step into the Legendary Level, should have a more comprehensive and profound grasp of this knowledge.

However, Reine had only officially become a Great Knight a little over two months ago and had not yet had the chance to look into this matter.

“Uh… for Great Knights, completely comprehending Will’s brilliance and entering the realm of titled knights is to become a Legendary strongman,” Langgeler pondered and said concisely.

“If one has only grasped a trace or a small part of it, then that person is a Quasi-Legendary strongman.”

“Will’s brilliance?” Reine frowned slightly.

It seemed like the second time he had heard this term; the last time Master Ganther had mentioned it briefly.

“Yes, that’s right. Simply put, the sense of oppression you felt during your fight with these two is the influence of Will at the entry-level,” Langgeler pointed to the bodies of Ganon and others as he said.

“If you master the basic use of this Will’s brilliance, you could be said to have entered the Quasi-Legendary level.”

But Langgeler felt a bit awkward as he explained this.

He quickly realized where the awkwardness came from.

For him, these two were on a higher Quasi-Legendary level, but for Reine, they were defeated foes.

And now, he was suggesting that Reine should learn from these two…

“That type of oppression?”

Reine nodded.

Being a Wizard as well, he had much sharper senses than Langgeler.

He could feel that this oppression was a demonstration of some sort of spiritual power.

“Captain Langgeler’s right, but Reine, you’re also a Wizard,”

“For Wizards, the distinction of a Quasi-Legendary strongman is simpler—it’s the liquefaction of spiritual power, taking one to second-level Wizard. And a Legendary is when spiritual power crystallizes,” Cleya said from aside.

“If we liken spiritual power to a multi-faceted crystal, then perception is one of the facets, an external manifestation of spiritual power. Will’s brilliance is another facet of this crystal, another external manifestation of spiritual power,”

“This is exactly what I heard from the Ranger Queen, also called the ‘Windwalker,’ Lady Sefiris, when I was at the Royal Academy.”

“She too, embodies both the ways of the Wizard and the Knight, and I think her words should be helpful to you.” Lady Creya’s beautiful eyes were fixed on Reine as she spoke.

Two sides of the same coin, huh?

Reine nodded and said, “Thank you, Lady Creya. Lady Sefiris’s words are very enlightening to me.”

But Reine also knew that these were merely overarching summaries.

For him to master Will’s brilliance, he still had to start from the very beginning.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I’ll leave this place to you. I need to go back and ponder over this.”
