Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 195: Chapter 154: It’s All the Fault of the Evil Terra Imp

Back at his residence, Isaac tossed the two Magic Books onto the table and sat down, lost in thought. Smith and Lorna, who had followed him inside, exchanged a look but remained silent, just watching him quietly.

”Smith, do you know if we have any conflict with Prince Norns?” After a long moment, Isaac asked Smith, who was standing behind him, his brow slightly furrowed.

The reason Isaac asked this was because of the question he had posed at the end of their conversation today, and the answer Philo had given...

She had indeed provided the technology to resurrect Remington—Forbidden Knowledge from the Eternal Star God—but it was Prince Norns who had actually performed the resurrection!

This was because Philo didn’t actually think much of Remington; the man wasn’t very bright.

As for why Prince Norns would resurrect Remington, she had no idea. Philo had no interest in the Empire’s internal politics; in any case, the throne would never fall to a Mad Witch like her.

”We have no conflict with Prince Norns,” Smith stated plainly.

After all, Isaac’s conversation with Philo hadn’t been kept secret from the others, so Smith had already prepared his answer on the way back.

”But among the Nobility, the absence of a direct conflict doesn’t mean actions won’t be taken.”

”For example?”

”Factional competition, for instance!” Smith paused for a moment before continuing. ”Prince Norns belongs to the Second Prince’s faction. While we haven’t picked a side, most of the Border Nobility we’re associated with are part of the Eldest Prince’s faction. Perhaps that’s the reason.”

”Factional strife, is it?” Isaac rubbed his brow and sighed. ”Fine. In that case, give my older brother a summary of the situation.”

”Yes, I’ll go at once.” Smith nodded and withdrew from the room, leaving Lorna alone.

”Huh?” Lorna stared blankly at Smith’s departing back, a strange sense of awkwardness creeping over her. ’You’re leaving, so what about me?’

Just as Lorna was preparing to sneak away, Isaac suddenly turned to face her. With a beaming smile, he asked, ”Well? After today, you should have a good idea of what kind of person I am, right? Do you want to leave?”

”Hmm? Ah... about that...” Lorna flinched, feeling inexplicably flustered, but she quickly relaxed at Isaac’s question. She looked at him curiously. ”Why would I want to leave? It’s pretty good following you.” 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

”I’m a Mad Witch. Aren’t you afraid?” Hearing this, Isaac looked at Lorna with some curiosity. ”A Mad Witch is a Wizard who deals with Outer Gods. You didn’t know?”

”And? So what if you’re a Mad Witch? Are you going to sacrifice me to an Outer God?” Lorna shot back.

”I wouldn’t do that, no.” Isaac let out a surprised laugh.

”Then that settles it, doesn’t it? If we’re just going by titles, I’m a Witch, you know.” After a pause, Lorna continued, ”At least for now, I haven’t seen you do anything that would make me want to leave. Take this sacrifice, for example. I think if it had involved real people, or slaves, that Eldest Princess wouldn’t have hesitated. But you definitely wouldn’t do something like that!”

”We haven’t known each other long, but I have that much faith in you!” Lorna gave a little shake of her pale fist. ”Besides, the Dragon Mother said that to judge if a man is good, you shouldn’t listen to what others say or what he says. You have to watch what he does! And so far, at least, you don’t seem like a bad person to me.”

Isaac raised an eyebrow. ’This Witch... she’s surprisingly open-minded.’

Honestly, since becoming a Mad Witch, Lorna was the first truly open-minded person Isaac had met. Others, even his older brother, had not grown distant only because of their familial bond. But in reality, Caesar’s actions were what one would normally call indulgence or enabling.

Caesar himself held severe stereotypes about Mad Witches. And it wasn’t just him—even Smith, who was always by Isaac’s side, was the same.

Ultimately, it was a matter of mindset. In their worldview, dealing with Outer Gods was, in itself, an act of madness. That was how the Mad Witches got their name.

But Lorna clearly didn’t see it that way.

”Is that so... Alright, I get it. You should go get some rest.”

”?” Seeing that Isaac seemed much happier, Lorna scratched her head in confusion and turned to leave.

’If I can’t figure it out, I won’t think about it. I should just go get some rest!’

She had been standing and watching Isaac and the others talk all day, and now she was exhausted!

’Mentally exhausted!’

After Lorna left, Isaac sat in his chair and grinned like a fool for a while. He didn’t even know what he was so happy about, just that he was!

But this foolish happiness didn’t last long, because there were still important things to do...

Isaac’s gaze fell upon the two newly acquired Magic Books on the table. One was from Philo and contained their sacrificial plan. He hadn’t yet read it in detail; it would require careful study. In addition to finding the most suitable ”patsy,” he also wanted to learn how Grand Arcanists designed rituals for making pacts with Evil Gods.

The other book, however, didn’t need to be read. Strictly speaking, it wasn’t a Magic Book but a Magical Book—something akin to a Magic Scroll. It contained several recorded instances of Magic; holding the book allowed one to cast them directly, but the Magic itself could not be learned from it.

Both Legendary Mages and Arcanists could only use it, not learn from it.

However, Magical Books had one huge advantage over Magic Scrolls—they were reusable. This was the distinction between them.

This Magical Book was from Angel. It recorded Time Magic, specifically: Time Pause, Time Reversal, and Time Loop.

While Time Pause couldn’t be used to attack directly during the pause, one could set traps or escape. Time Reversal had even more uses; it could heal injuries, repair items, or even be used to view past events in a specific location.

But as for what was most practical for Isaac, that would have to be the last one: Time Loop!

This was because the Magic could affect his Flesh Dimension, locking its time within a specific period, unable to advance or retreat.

The implications of this were huge!

Because this meant that the duration of Isaac’s Infinite Magic Power would no longer be limited by the Dimension itself, but would instead be tied to the duration of the Time Loop!

And according to Angel, the duration of the Time Loop wasn’t tied to the Magical Book or the Caster, but was determined by the length and scope of the time period being looped.

In other words!

A full month of Infinite Magic Power!

Even though Isaac had already achieved a certain degree of magical abundance through his Secret Skill, the allure of this was still immense!

After all, this kind of Infinite Magic Power had far fewer restrictions.

”Sigh...” Isaac heaved a heavy sigh. ’If only Angel were like Lorna. She would be an absolute godsend!’

’The ultimate god-tier support!’

Unfortunately, Angel had been deeply hurt by Philo. Although her childhood had been decent, having grown up nursing a deep-seated hatred, her mental state was unlikely to be very healthy...

’That kind of lunatic isn’t suitable as a teammate. What a shame... ’

Stroking the Magical Book and allowing himself a brief moment of regret, Isaac put away the Time Demon Path Book. He then opened the Magic Book from Philo and began to study it in earnest.

’A massive ritual like this, if handled properly, could yield a reward that would rival the Time Loop Magic!’
