Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 178: Chapter 145: Elf? Witch? Knight? Slave

And it would be an exceptionally terrifying kind of destruction!

But at the same time, this also made him quite excited!

As the saying goes, fortune favors the bold. Mad Witches were indeed mad, but there was no denying they were all geniuses!

Top-tier geniuses!

That was why they often came up with fantastical ideas, and these ideas could potentially be of immense value!

Moreover, even setting that aside, from the perspective of potential alone, every Mad Witch was a high-growth stock with a promising future!

If they could just survive.

So, while Remi’s rational mind told him to stay away from Isaac—to ideally never interact with him again—his merchant’s instinct urged him to forge a strong connection and get a firm hold on this high-growth stock!

’What a pity...’

’Isaac doesn’t want an Elf...’

Next, Remi showed Isaac several other types of slaves: Dragon-men, Ratmen, Adventurers, and even a Tier One Knight. Unfortunately, none of them caught Isaac’s eye.

He was buying slaves to train as Secret Mages. Once they learned the Secret Skills, Isaac would kick them out. He had no intention of raising a bunch of good-for-nothings in his territory who weren’t even as strong as a Great Sword Ghost.

That was why the other slaves were simply subpar. They either couldn’t learn the Secret Skills, or the cost was too high.

Until the last carriage...

”Lord Baron, I guarantee you’ll be satisfied with this one!” Remi smiled mysteriously, then rubbed his hands together in a sleazy gesture, his greasy tongue darting out to lick his lips.

However, faced with Remi’s disgusting display, Isaac merely narrowed his eyes, his expression turning serious.

Because he had sensed Magic Power in Remi’s movements!

At the same time, the carriage before them, draped in black cloth, emitted a ripple of Magic Power.

In other words, Remi’s series of seemingly disgusting actions was actually the method for undoing some kind of Magic Seal... ’Interesting...’

Isaac began to look forward to what was inside the carriage. After all, Remi hadn’t even placed a Magic Seal on the carriages holding the Elf and the Knight, which showed just how much he valued this particular prize.

’But what could possibly be more important than an Elf?’

Soon, under Isaac’s expectant gaze, the black cloth fell. The contents of the carriage came into view, and his excited, expectant expression froze. After a long moment, he turned his head and stared at Remi as if looking at a lunatic.

”Are you insane? You actually dared to capture a Witch?!”

That’s right. When the black cloth fell, it revealed a girl inside the iron cage. She was about five feet tall, sixteen or seventeen years old, and a few years younger than Isaac.

Although the girl wore ordinary clothes and a mess of long, gray hair covered her delicate face, she now huddled in a corner of the cage, looking incredibly small and pitiful.

But no matter how pitiful she appeared, Isaac instantly saw the surging Magic Power within her!

It was Magic Power at least comparable to that of a peak Official Wizard!

Of course, not all women with Magic Power are Witches. But if that Magic Power was of a Chaotic nature, then it was another matter entirely.

Without a doubt, this was a Witch!

And Witches could not be enslaved!

Because on the continent, there was a nation dedicated to sheltering and protecting Witches—the Witch Country!

It was a nation ruled by lunatics. Consequently, even though many of its decrees were tyrannical, the other nations of the continent still recognized some of its laws—mainly because most of them pertained to the protection of Witches.

And among these was one decree in particular: Anyone who captures a Witch as a slave, for any reason, will be considered to have declared war on the Witch Country!

Of course, in this world, where there was enough profit, someone would always be willing to take the risk. Witch slaves were no exception.

Still, very few dared to do it. At least, Isaac had only ever read about it in historical texts...

This was his first time seeing one alive.

”Heheh~” Remi chuckled smugly, seemingly unaware of how insane his actions were. ”So? Do you want her?”

”...” Isaac fell silent for a moment, then asked, ”How many Gold Coins?”

Although Remi’s selling of a Witch slave was an act of utter madness and the risks of buying one were extremely high, Isaac had to admit he was tempted!

Lately, he had been spending all his time in the research group’s library, thirstily absorbing all Knowledge like a sponge. It was there that Isaac had come across an incomplete, but very interesting, experimental log on Black Magic.

The Black Magic itself was rather mundane, a type of Witchcraft derived from heart transplantation. It simply involved replacing an enemy’s heart during combat and letting the organ rejection reaction finish them off.

However, a Concept mentioned within had greatly intrigued Isaac—the Witch’s Heart.

In the experimental notes, the author saw the Witch’s Heart as the source of a Witch’s power, believing that by transplanting it, one could wield a Witch’s Magic.

In truth, such ideas were considered rather cliché among Legendary Mages. After all, the power of Legendary Mages had originated from the study of Witches.

The Witch’s Heart theory had long since been debunked; a simple transplant of a Witch’s heart was useless.

But that author believed that while a simple Witch’s heart was indeed useless, what if one used a ritual to condense all of a Witch’s power into a single heart? Would that still be useless?

The author didn’t think so. He even boldly speculated that the early Legendary Mages must have done such things. It was only as the system of Legendary Mages matured and the Witches gradually united that this bloody and primitive method was sealed away for good.

Isaac’s opinion on the matter was similar to the author’s. Legendary Mages were hardly saints; they didn’t possess such high moral standards.

Unfortunately, the author of that experimental log never personally completed the experiment. He had died in a magical accident before he could even get started on capturing a Witch.

Of course, Isaac had no intention of sacrificing this Witch to extract her heart. The reason he wanted to buy her was, first, that he was genuinely interested in the Magic of Witches and wanted to study it properly.

Naturally, he would use conventional methods and do his best to obtain her consent.

And secondly... this was also why, despite buying her, Isaac would not treat her as a slave. He planned to contact the Witch Country and hand her over!

There was no helping it. Although Remi was the one who captured her, he had done business with the Solomons Family for many years. If the matter were to be exposed, the wrath of the Witch Country would likely be directed at them as well.

’After all, they’re a bunch of madwomen. Women are unreasonable enough as it is, let alone a pack of insane ones.’

”I can give her to you as a gift, Lord Baron!”

Isaac wasn’t surprised by Remi’s answer. After all, her value couldn’t be measured in money. While she certainly had a price, Remi, a Slave Trader with many years in the business, wasn’t lacking for that kind of coin.

”I knew it. What do you want?”

”Heheh~” Remi rubbed his hands together obsequiously. ”I heard that you, Lord Baron, recently developed a brand-new Magic Potion, one that can purify the bloodline of Dragon Blood Creatures and guide it in the right direction?”

Isaac shot Remi a surprised glance. While he hadn’t made a great effort to hide this information, he hadn’t been spreading it around, either. For now, news of it had only circulated within the Flesh Sect’s research group. It still had a number of flaws, so it hadn’t been officially announced.

”Such a thing does exist. It’s called the Dragon Transformation Secret Medicine. How did you find out about it?”

”It was your sister, the Grand Arcanist Lady Cheryl, who told me. That’s why I was hoping that when you officially begin selling this Magic Potion, you would allow me to handle the sales for you. Of course, I would only be your agent. You would set the price, and all proceeds from the Magic Potion would be yours.” As he spoke, Remi humbled himself even more.

”That’s strange. Aren’t you a Slave Trader? Since when do you deal in Magic Potions?” Isaac asked curiously.

”As long as there’s money to be made, what difference does it make what I’m selling? Don’t you agree?”

”Makes sense. Alright, I can allow you to sell the Dragon Transformation Secret Medicine. And you don’t have to give me all the proceeds. You’ll buy it from me, and what you sell it for is your business. However, we’ll have to agree on a few ground rules~”

Remi’s face lit up with joy, but he quickly suppressed his excitement. ”Please, lay out your terms.”
