When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 451: Chapter 160: 70s Green Tea Educated Youth (47)

The old director listened as Chi Yun’er laid out her plan: the hospital departments needed to be zoned logically and meticulously for efficient patient flow...

They needed to consider the demand for medical services from individuals, work units, and in various special situations.

She proposed perfecting the seven major functional systems—outpatient services, emergency care, medical technology, logistical support, administration, and on-campus living—on both a macro and micro level.

Listening to Chi Yun’er speak so logically, the old director felt she knew more about planning and constructing a hospital than he, the actual director, did. All he could do was nod in agreement.

Moreover, the hospital’s replanning and expansion was just a proposal, but it had already materialized perfectly in his mind according to Chi Yun’er’s vision. ’Indeed, just thinking about such a comfortable, efficient, and well-organized work environment feels wonderful and relaxing!’

”Alright, Chi, go back and write up a detailed proposal. We’ll discuss it and then submit it to the organization. If the application is approved, then I’ll have to trouble you to oversee the entire process.”

Chi Yun’er was taken aback. ’I’ve just landed myself another project, and this one will give the hospital a complete makeover...’

The director smiled. ”Don’t worry. As long as you can transform the hospital into what you’ve described, you will be well rewarded!”

”At the very least,” he paused, ”you’ll be given a few units in the new family housing building.”

Chi Yun’er’s eyes lit up again. The real estate market in the Capital City hadn’t opened yet; the term ”commercial housing” wouldn’t even be coined for several years. But she had witnessed housing prices skyrocket in the future. Here in Xiahua’s Capital City, a single square meter would one day sell for tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even several hundred thousand.

An ordinary person could struggle their whole life and still not be able to afford a single bathroom here.

She was starting at what for some people was the finish line.

’As for houses, I certainly wouldn’t mind having a few extra!’

The mere thought of it made her unable to contain her excitement.

A light flashed in Chi Yun’er’s eyes. She smiled and readily agreed. Knowing she had a personal stake in the new family housing, she became even more invested, realizing she had to consider many things from a long-term perspective.

Without waiting for her elusive father, Mr. Chi, she went directly back to her parents’ home. After eating, she returned to the office she hadn’t visited in a long time. She gave her desk a quick wipe-down, then sat and wrote furiously.

It took Chi Yun’er a full three days to polish a proposal that she was exceptionally satisfied with.

She also attached several of her own drawings of the hospital layout—some showing the overall plan, some focusing on details, and others covering aspects like landscaping.

She made two copies of the thick proposal before submitting it to the old director.

This time, the old director didn’t even look at it. He immediately called a meeting and had his assistant read it aloud to everyone.

Everyone was stunned by Chi Yun’er’s grand, all-encompassing vision and her meticulous attention to detail. It was as if a great wave had crashed in their minds, its waters churning and pounding against stone, refusing to recede.

They had originally been quite satisfied with the ten-year-old hospital. Thanks to frequent repairs and maintenance, it still felt rather new. Sure, it was a little small, the layout was too cramped, the lighting was dim, the departments were a bit jumbled, and there weren’t quite enough patient rooms... but other than that, there was nothing wrong with it.

But they were like frogs in a well, having never seen the hospitals of a later era, nor having had the chance to see those abroad.

For them now, with their deep pockets, any problem that could be solved with money was not a problem at all!

Thus, the proposal was quickly approved by everyone without a single word being changed, and the old director personally submitted it up the chain of command.

The very next day, a reply of approval came from above.

Since Jiang Yihua was still away on business, he asked a senior colleague to take Chi Yun’er to meet the renowned Professor Bai of the architecture department.

”Little Jiang’s wife?” Professor Bai was an elderly gentleman with salt-and-pepper hair and silver-rimmed glasses perched on his nose. His smile was warm and refined.

Chi Yun’er smiled lightly and bowed in greeting.

After a few words of conversation, she explained her reason for visiting and handed him the proposal.

”Teacher Bai, you are a titan in the world of architecture. You’ve participated in the design, planning, and construction of many of our country’s landmark buildings.”

”So, our General Hospital would like to ask for your help in designing the work area and the family housing area...”

Teacher Bai took the proposal with a faint smile, but after glancing at just a few lines, his expression immediately turned serious. He read it silently from beginning to end. After closing the proposal, he tapped his fingers on the armrest a few times.

Only then did he look at Chi Yun’er with a complex expression.

”You’re no simple young lady. You’re practically an insider yourself; you know an awful lot.”

The old director had made sure to put Chi Yun’er’s name on the proposal.
