When She Stops Being Dramatic

Chapter 473: Chapter 165: The Green Tea Female Supporting Character in a Period Novel (Conclusion)

”You—you sold two and a half blocks to Chi Yun’er? Something this major, and you didn’t even ask for my opinion?” Jiang Zishi was so angry his temples throbbed.

The manager had been thrilled with his impressive sales performance, eagerly awaiting praise and a generous bonus from the boss and his wife. However, he was now met with the couple’s mortified expressions, leaving him somewhat bewildered.

He said cautiously, ”But, but you and your wife told me that as long as they had the money, and to prevent them from backing out, I didn’t need to report to you and could just complete the procedures directly.”

”But Chi Yun’er bought two and a half blocks! Is that a small matter?” Jiang Zishi’s gentlemanly demeanor went out the window as he roared hysterically.

”I’d rather the properties never sell than give her such a bargain!”

He remembered Bian Yumin saying that housing prices in the Capital City would skyrocket like a rocket, shooting up and up. If they weren’t strapped for cash and constrained by the Curry Family...

They could have hoarded the apartments from a single project and gotten rich far faster and more easily than by slaving away on one project after another!

’So that’s what Chi Yun’er was after when she came to them before, making sure the quality and specifications of the apartments were up to par!’

’Haven’t they just handed someone else the fruits of their labor?’

But now they had no other choice. They had been toyed with by Chi Yun’er until they were terrified of her, wishing they could stay a thousand miles away. How could they dare to step up and make their presence known?

”After we finish the project at hand, we’ll go to Shanghai and never come back to the Capital City again!”

Jiang Zishi took a deep breath, finally forcing the words out through gritted teeth. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

Meanwhile, Chi Yun’er had already begun a glorious life of coasting to victory.

She held a 50% stake in the Kyoto Technology Mall, the amusement park, and their affiliated facilities. Even after withdrawing her shares, she was still the landlord for both places. She didn’t have to worry about management at all; she could just sit at home and wait for the dividends.

Additionally, she had two and a half blocks—three hundred and sixty apartments—to collect rent from. Housing prices hadn’t shot up yet, but in about ten years, once the area was developed, prices would soar. Her annual rental income alone would be in the millions.

Moreover, she could use her annual rental income to continue buying more properties. This time, she was targeting commercial housing in the city, and for ease of management, she planned to purchase them by the block as well...

After the first project was completed, Jiang Zishi and Bian Yumin felt more confident. Most importantly, after buying the properties, Chi Yun’er had started to quiet down.

They nervously completed another project and noticed that Chi Yun’er didn’t even show up for the safety inspection.

Even when they started their third project, that little she-devil seemed to have forgotten them, content to stay in her flower shop and lead a quiet life of domestic bliss.

Jiang Zishi assumed she had turned over a new leaf and gotten her revenge out of her system. As a result, he and Bian Yumin gradually reverted to their old, profit-at-all-costs ways.

For them, profit was paramount; all other considerations had to make way.

One day, it was a steel bar supplier offering a discount, with the boss treating them to a full-package service of dinner and a spa; the next, it was a cement factory with low prices, whose sales manager pulled some strings to introduce them to influential figures...

They rushed from one social engagement to another, paying no real attention to their project. In their minds, their team was full of veterans who had been with them for two projects. They had paid them well, contacted all the material suppliers, and had contracts in hand. What could possibly go wrong?

After all, the people of Xiahua were honest, simple, and hardworking. And so, while they were busy wining and dining, money flowed from their accounts like water.

When the five-year period was up, they suddenly discovered that of all the money in their accounts, only a pitiful two or three million remained...

The problem was, the building was now more than halfway through its construction schedule, but work had been halted by the Housing and Construction Bureau due to substandard quality!

Jiang Zishi was frantic, scrambling to find help, but all the people who had called him ”brother” at the dinner table had vanished. Even Bian Yumin left him at this moment.

”Why?” Jiang Zishi already knew the answer in his heart.

Bian Yumin chuckled softly. ”If it weren’t for your money, do you think I would have ever humbled myself before you?”

”Hah. I gave you so much advice, and what did you ever show me in return? ’A mother’s status is elevated by her son’—that’s an ancient concept. I am my own person!”

”If you’re going to treat me like your strategist, your cash cow, then you need to show the right attitude and treat me with some respect. You wanted everything without giving anything, and you still ordered me around. How pathetic would I have to be to chain myself to a lost cause like you?”

”Oh, and by the way,” she said, deciding that wasn’t enough, and twisted the knife. ”The accountant was my person. Half of all that money of yours ended up in my hands. Hah. Since you were so generous to your sweetheart, surely you wouldn’t mind sparing some for your legal wife, would you?”
