Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2330: Chapter 2331: The Rules of the Mirror Image

Let’s start from the beginning.

After the Mirror Grudge entered Little Sam’s room, he quickly used his abilities to envelop the entire room, creating a space of multiple mirror images.

The so-called mirror image uses the mirror surface as a medium, guided by space, to create a circular-like reversed space.

It carries the qualities of illusion techniques, yet it is more than just an illusion; the Mirror World grants the mirror image an unimaginable sense of reality. When you can’t find a way to break the mirror image, you may even be forever trapped in the Mirror World.

And breaking the mirror image is not so easy.

Aside from using powerful abilities to directly crush the mirror image, there is only one other way to break it.

First, you must be in the Real World, not the mirrored world created by the mirror image. From the previous situation with Little Sam and the other Wizard Apprentices, you can see this clearly. Those Wizard Apprentices initially entered the mirror image world, so all their efforts were in vain, thinking they could become the Savior, but they ended up as prisoners.

However, Little Sam was different. He actually arrived in the real room before the mirror image was formed. It can be said that from the beginning, Little Sam was in the Real World. Even if a reversing mirror space appeared, there was only one.

Little Sam was also very restrained, experimenting back and forth only between the Real World and that single mirror space. If he had decided to climb out the window, he probably would have gotten lost in different mirror spaces like those Wizard Apprentices.

Of course, Angel believed, even if Little Sam hadn’t climbed out the window, the Mirror Grudge could have found a way to guide Little Sam to make him get lost in the mirror image. The Mirror Grudge didn’t do it, perhaps because of overconfidence, thinking Little Sam was just a mortal with no power to resist, so he didn’t treat him with all seriousness. This is one of the reasons for his downfall.

Moreover, after finding the Real World, you must be aware of the rules of the Real World and the mirror space.

The mirror image is a true reflection.

No matter what changes occur in the Real World, the mirror image records them faithfully. Like a mirror, it reflects all changes.

Whether Little Sam moved the table or the chairs, the mirror image presented the post-movement status truthfully. This is a rule.

And when Little Sam moved furniture in the mirror space, even though the furniture in the Real World also moved, this does not belong to the rule but was simulated by the Mirror Grudge using necromantic energy.

After knowing the rules of the mirror image, you also need to do the final thing: find the soul body of the Mirror Grudge hidden in the mirror image.

To break the mirror image ultimately comes down to tackling everything at the source, which is the Mirror Grudge itself.

Only by harming the soul body of the Mirror Grudge can you find a way to break the mirror image.

Unless necessary, the Mirror Grudge’s soul body can always be concealed in the mirror space. How can it be harmed?

By entering the mirror space, it can create countless mirror spaces, making you lose your way in the endless Mirror World. Without entering the mirror space, how can you attack its main body?

Little Sam presented a very beautiful answer.

According to the rules of the mirror image, when in the Real World, all changes are faithfully presented in the mirror space, whether they are material changes, such as moving tables and chairs, or energy changes, such as lighting a fire, they will be faithfully presented in the mirror space.

Little Sam was in the Real World at the time and burned the bookshelf.

The blazing fire burned not only in the Real World but was also discovered and copied by the mirror to the mirror space.

So, the room in the mirror space also started to burn.

And the Mirror Grudge, in order to keep an eye on Little Sam, left a mirror image avatar concealed in the mirror space, and the outcome was—

Little Sam, extremely lucky, ignited the flame in the Real World to burn the Mirror Grudge’s avatar in the mirror space.

At the time, Little Sam saw the fire in the mirror space appeared brighter, which was a sign of the Mirror Grudge avatar being ignited.

Little Sam was lucky to injure the Mirror Grudge’s avatar, causing noticeable cracks in the mirror space, allowing the trapped Wizard Apprentices to find an opportunity to escape.

So, previously, Frode mocked those Wizard Apprentices, saying if it wasn’t for Little Sam, they might have been permanently trapped in the mirror space, eventually perishing from being ground down.

They should thank Little Sam more than posing as the Savior.

...

Little Sam was stunned after hearing Angel’s explanation: ”My unintentional act ended up being the key to breaking the illusion?”

Angel also heard Little Sam’s muttering.

He agreed that Little Sam was the key to breaking the illusion. However, he didn’t believe Little Sam’s actions were entirely unintentional.

When a person is in an unknown crisis, unable to accurately judge the situation or calmly analyze the information, the subconscious will replace or guide the self to make decisions. And subconsciousness is often the source of inspiration.

Little Sam suddenly decided to set fire in such circumstances, and indeed it was a bit abrupt. Angel speculated that perhaps it was inspiration guiding Little Sam to make a judgment.

Even if Little Sam’s subjective mind didn’t think of it this way, inspiration helped him make the choice.

Luck, at times, is not accidental.

Although Angel thought this, he did not say it out loud. Instead, he took the opportunity to advise little Sam: ”The talent of a near-spirit body is a double-edged sword. It will bring you benefits but also drawbacks, just like this situation. You killed the farmer, and the farmer turned into an undead to hunt you.”

”This time, you were lucky enough to get away. However, luck won’t always be on your side. As long as you continue down the path of a Wizard, you will encounter the same situation countless times in the future.”

”If you rely solely on luck, you won’t make it far. Only by enriching your foundation and becoming strong can you cope with various situations.”

Little Sam nodded in agreement.

After the warning, Angel still praised little Sam a few times.

No matter what, little Sam’s performance today was commendable. Especially in comparison to those Wizard Apprentices, little Sam stood out even more.

After waiting for a few more minutes, Frode came down with the Soul Collection Bottle, smiling. Behind him trailed six dejected Wizard Apprentices.

Running into Angel after coming out, these six apprentices felt embarrassed and slinked behind Drue.

Drue glanced at them and couldn’t find the heart to scold them in front of Angel, so he took a deep breath and sighed.

Angel looked at Frode: ”Did you capture the Mirror Grudge?”

Frode shook the grayish Soul Collection Bottle: ”It’s inside.”

Pausing, Frode walked over to little Sam and patted his shoulder with a smile: ”I have to say, this time, little Sam played a vital role. The soul body of this Mirror Grudge was too weak, and with little Sam burning it, its strength was halved. Dealing with it after that was exceedingly easy.”

Angel: ”Although the Mirror Grudge is a special undead, it was born too recently. Its soul body strength, combat awareness, and battle experience are very low.”

If the existence cycle of Mirror Grudge could be longer, with increased soul body strength and combat experience, not just Frode, but many Official Wizards would likely have had a major setback.

In fact, the capabilities of Mirror Grudge have significant potential for improvement, such as its Necromantic Mirror Image, which allows ample space manipulation. Mirror Grudge only used it to trap foes, but its potential is far beyond just trapping.

Moreover, Mirror Grudge can also perform spatial movement through the mirror, which is a profoundly terrifying ability.

Once it matures, even Soul Witches might covet its ”intervening” power.

Frode: ”Should we let Tullas devour it now?”

Angel shook his head: ”No rush. I’m interested in the Necromantic Mirror Image created by this Mirror Grudge. I plan to study it for a few days first. Afterward, handing it over to Tullas won’t be too late.”

Angel was continually observing the Necromantic Mirror Image, which has the foundation of illusion techniques but incorporates spatial mysteries.

The more Angel observed, the more fascinated he became.

The combination of illusion techniques and Space Series powers, Angel had only read examples of it in books, and it was his first time seeing it in reality. Even though the Mirror Grudge’s illusion technique is not in the traditional sense, Angel still wanted to keep it for a few days to study its mysteries.

After Frode handed the Soul Collection Bottle to Angel, the sudden commotion of the day ended.

Because the performance of his apprentices was intolerable, to regain some dignity, Drue volunteered to take care of the aftermath.

Little Sam was arranged to rest in another room temporarily.

Angel and Frode, on the other hand, went to the Earth Cavern filled with necrotic energy.

Adar was also in the Earth Cavern, watching over Shanni. When Angel and Frode arrived, Adar’s eyes lit up, and he came over to inquire about little Sam.

Being a near-spirit body, Adar felt naturally close to little Sam, so his behavior was understandable.

While Frode recounted the events of the day to Adar, Angel activated the Purifying Field and walked into the Earth Cavern.

He first checked on Shanni’s condition, ensuring there were no signs of her falling into depravity, then began exploring the cavern.

The necrotic energy in the cavern remained as dense as before, showing no signs of weakening since his last visit. The gusts of dark ghostly wind could wear down a soul within half a second, imperceptible to Mortals, and even a Wizard Apprentice would likely collapse under its force.

The only change in the cavern was the addition of several lights made of Fluorite, which slightly alleviated its gloominess.

Using the light from the Fluorite, Angel could clearly see the small alcoves on the walls of the cavern.

A total of three hundred and sixty alcoves, each one occupied by a skeleton.

Seeing the similar-statured skeletons, Angel recalled the information Frode had mentioned before.

Thirteen years ago, Dawn Town, slave market.

Based on this inference, each of these skeletons was likely a specially selected slave by the mysterious figure.

But why did they do this? What was the ceremony here?

And, who are they?
