Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2310: Chapter 2311: An Unusual Development

Since Greya came herself, Angel no longer obstructed, stopped ”AFKing,” and gradually concealed himself in the air.

Thud thud thud—

Huge sounds echoed incessantly.

To Greya, it was the sound of her clamorous heartbeat.

To the Treant, it was the sound of an approaching formidable enemy, its eyes stained with dread as it looked to the source. Only to see a huge shadow, not smaller than itself, appearing in the distant woods, twisting wildly, crashing one giant tree after another, heading towards it.

”Who is it? Dream Plant Fairy? Or a creature of doom mentioned by the Mother Tree’s dream?” The Treant posed a defensive stance; at this moment, it didn’t have time to care about the surrounding strange creatures, a vigilant glint flashed through its golden tree eyes.

As the footsteps drew nearer, the Treant finally saw the true face of the gigantic shadow.

It seemed to be a Treant wearing a purple dress!

Treant!

Her figure was rounded and tall, as if nourished by the richest fertilizers; her skin layered, carrying the unique rugged texture of wood; her luminous eyes resembling the stars in the sky, and her flaming red lips...

The Treant was directly stunned, why there appeared a Treant here... and such a beautiful Treant at that.

Although it was certain the other was a Treant, from the other’s aura, it seemed to have characteristics of a ”living creature.” Just like those creatures appearing around, differing from the traits of the Dream Plant Fairy.

”Is she, like these peculiar creatures, just descended here?” The Treant pondered, while its eyes burned intently onto Greya.

Greya was completely unaware of the Treant’s psychological activities, nor did she expect, her skin turned dry and gray due to eating Angel’s mushrooms, was mistaken as bark, leading to a discrepancy in the Treant’s racial judgment of her.

At that moment, all of Greya’s attention was focused on the strange fragrance in the breeze, lightly yet stimulating her stomach’s juices.

Greya even closed her eyes, sprinting simply following the scent source. Her mouth constantly drooling, combined with her frenzied running posture, appeared alien.

Yet such an advancing giant, in the eyes of the Treant, was a rare beauty in the world. Every big stride Greya took towards it seemed to tread upon its budding heart, trembling, yet it couldn’t help but secretly rejoice.

Finally, Greya stopped in front of the Treant.

”Who, who are you? I mean, can you tell me your name?” A golden gleam flashed through the youthful eyes of the Treant.

But Greya paid no heed, still with eyes closed, taking deep breaths of the saliva-inducing scent in the air.

The Treant thought Greya couldn’t understand its words, so it switched to spiritual wave transmission. Through the Mother Tree node, the Treant had already learned from Dream Plant Fairies worldwide, that the language taught by the Mother Tree was unique to Dream Plant Fairies and generally incomprehensible by outsiders. But information relayed through spiritual power allowed Dream Plant Fairies to normally communicate with other creatures.

This time Greya did understand, but she didn’t care about the information at all. After confirming the source of the fragrance, she opened her eyes and directly ignored the Treant’s massive face, the purple light flowing in her beautiful eyes fixated on the golden fruit hanging from the branch.

This must be it, this golden fruit, causing her culinary intuition to crazily release signals of hunger.

Since becoming a True Knowledge Wizard, it was the first time Greya’s culinary intuition acted so crazily.

Enough to explain the preciousness of this golden fruit as a gourmet ingredient.

Golden fruit? Oh, Greya’s brain dominated by appetite suddenly cleared for a moment. It reminded her of the purpose of this visit, seemed it was for a golden apple.

This golden fruit’s appearance seemed to be a golden apple.

And as Lianna said, the golden apple came from a Treant. Treant? Greya couldn’t help but move her gaze a few meters down from the fruit, then she met a pair of emotion-complex eyes.

Indeed, a Treant!

In an instant, Greya’s mind flipped through various strategies, those she considered along the way, on how to deal with the Treant — verbal, threatening, even thieving.

However, before Greya could decide which one to use, the wondrous fragrance of the golden apple rushed over again.

Greya’s eyes once more appeared intoxicated, appetite reasserting control over her thoughts.

She couldn’t help but reach out her hand towards the golden apple...

Meanwhile, Angel, concealed on the side, witnessed everything happening before him. He was previously puzzled why Greya suddenly ran towards this direction, now the answer was clear, Greya came following the scent.

Not withstanding, Greya’s gourmet sense of smell was terrifying; although it’s only the body of Wilderness of Dreams, even using only low-level culinary Trick enhancement, Greya could accurately position the source of the golden fruit across a distance of dozens of miles.

No wonder she is the wizard with the most talent in the culinary path.

However, regardless of talent, to reach directly and pluck the Treant’s fruit like this, certainly invites resistance, right?

Not long ago, Angel, while AFKing through the Mother Tree’s essence, discovered some related content about the Treant among the Mother Tree’s collected information. Its most valuable asset is the golden fruit hanging from its branches.

According to descriptions by other Dream Plant Fairies, the golden fruit is to the Treant like a brow-scaled gem to a dragon or the enlightening horn to a Unicorn, even if you are a Dream Plant Fairy, showing covetousness for the fruit would provoke its thunderous wrath.

Hence, Angel judged, Greya would certainly face the Treant’s wrathful counterattack.

Angel was already secretly contemplating how to assist Greya.

In the distance, Greya’s aging and dry hand was less than a meter away from the golden fruit, the Treant realized Greya’s intention, and retreated several steps vigilantly.

Witnessing this, Angel’s heart also started to tense up, the next second surely the Treant would counterattack... Should he rescue directly, or manipulate the Mother Tree to influence the Treant’s thoughts?

Or manipulate the Mother Tree, through the will-linked Mother Tree node, to persuade the Treant.

Angel made up his mind and prepared to execute. Yet, surprisingly, the situation developed an unforeseen scenario.

”Do you wish for my fruit? I can’t give it to you now, but if you want it, we can get to know each other first, I at least need to know what you wish to do with the fruit?”

Angel, at this moment within the Mother Tree’s will, clearly heard the voice of the Treant.

Gentle, accommodating, with a touch of hopeful expectation.

How is this different from the information he collected earlier?

Angel, seeing the opposite side without any immediate sign of battle, pondered, puzzled, directly delved through the Mother Tree’s will into the Treant’s psyche.

Though unable to directly understand the Treant’s thoughts, through the means of the Mother Tree, Angel somewhat comprehended the Treant’s psychological change.

However, the clearer he understood, the more strangely he felt.

He previously determined Greya certainly couldn’t obtain the Treant’s fruit. But if following the Treant’s mental trajectory, Greya actually had a bit of hope.

And the source of such a situation’s occurrence was surprisingly the mushroom he crafted for Greya!

Who would have thought that the mushroom’s toxin reaction eventually became Greya’s camouflage.

In the distance, Greya became somewhat clear-headed. Unable to satisfy her appetite, she was about to have an outburst, but upon hearing the Treant’s gentle tone, she paused momentarily, her eyes shifted, and she restrained her upcoming anger...

Watching Greya and the Treant’s relatively calm conversation, Angel silently thought: ”...”

Judging by the current situation, there should be no need to worry about Greya for the time being.

Angel gave a deep look at the distant scenery before disappearing from where he stood.

As for whether Greya would get the golden fruit afterward, Angel couldn’t be bothered to care.

After disappearing from the forest, Angel didn’t continue overlooking the land but exited the Wilderness of Dreams and returned to reality.

Soon, Sanders and Rhein would travel across planes to the Tidal World. To avoid suspicion and not to affect other elemental creatures in the Green Forest Domain, Angel planned to temporarily leave and find a suitable place, preferably an unknown land, to open a Plane Corridor.

Opening his eyes, what met Angel’s eyes was the narrow space of the Vine House and the painting of Nami Midori gazing at the starry sky right in front of him.

Stretching, Angel stood up.

He glanced around; not far away, Nami Midori was hanging on a protruding vine, the pale transparent membrane shielding her golden eyes.

It seemed that Nami Midori hadn’t awakened yet; she was likely still communicating with the people in New City like Rhein.

Angel didn’t bother with Nami Midori and instead walked out by himself.

At the moment of pushing open the Vine House door, Angel saw a shadow fly onto his shoulder from the outside. It was Toby, who was bored playing outside.

Chatting with Toby, Angel flew down from the top of the Vine Tower, landing in the Lost Forest.

Leaving the Vine Tower, Nami Midori’s natural aura enveloped the Lost Forest completely.

This made the Lost Forest as tranquil as ever.

Not staying long in the Lost Forest, Angel directly left that pressure-covered place, and as soon as he stepped out, he heard a familiar laugh.

”Tired, tired, tired~~ Little Handy, what are you lamenting about again?”

”What Little Handy, you are Dangross, can you call me by my name, Alexander!”

”Dangross, you also got it wrong, it is Parry Mountains, not Alexander.”

”Cubic! I don’t need you to teach me; I know it’s Alexander!”

A burst of angry scolding and frolics reached Angel’s ears just like that.

Angel bypassed the dry deadwood forest, followed the sound, and on an open piece of black soil, he saw those familiar little companions.

Having not seen them for several days, he found that Cubic seemed more lively than before. Is it because he wasn’t around, so Cubic didn’t have to deliberately be serious? Dangross looked no different than before, still noisy, but with a hint of melancholy in its eyes. Has something happened recently to sadden it? Or is Dangross homesick?

As for Lobal and Speedy, they haven’t changed. They were originally concealing themselves nearby, but as mature wind-element creatures, their perception far surpassed Cubic and Dangross. They detected Angel’s presence while he was still a hundred meters away and turned into a gust of wind, coming to Angel’s side.

They didn’t ask Angel why he hadn’t appeared for days but, as usual, Lobal quietly guarded nearby, while Speedy transformed into an invisible breeze, swirling around Angel’s feet.

The disappearance of Lobal and Speedy finally aroused the suspicion of the two little ones under the tree.

”Where did they go?” Dangross looked around doubtfully. Just earlier, Lobal and Speedy were creating a gentle breeze nearby, so where did they go now?

Cubic didn’t respond but closed its eyes, feeling the wind’s path.

After a moment’s silence, Dangross heard a disdainful sniff.

”Humph, where else would they go? Of course, they went to meet that untrustworthy person.” The speaker was the only tree on the black soil, once the Gatekeeper of the Lost Forest, Parry Mountains.

Lately, they had been around Parry Mountains, so Dangross knew well who Parry Mountains’ tone targeted.

It was Angel!

A glint of brightness flashed in Dangross’s eyes, clearing away the shadow of melancholy on its face.

It couldn’t help but get up from Parry Mountains’ branch, looking around: ”Where is he? I didn’t see him.”

”Tired tired tired? Little Handy, are you excited to see that big liar?” Parry Mountains glanced sideways at Dangross standing on the branch.

Of course, Dangross wouldn’t admit: ”Parry Mountains, don’t talk nonsense. I am excited to see Master Toby!”

Parry Mountains: ”Heh, I see right through you, Little Handy.”

Cubic: ”Why do you suddenly remember Parry Mountains’ name, instead of calling it Alexander?”

Dangross: ”... That’s not important.”

Cubic, while conversing with Dangross, looked around, finally fixing its gaze in a particular direction.

Dangross followed Cubic’s gaze.

In the distance, a figure slowly emerged from the fog barrier.

Dangross immediately recognized the identity of the newcomer, a gleam of joy flashing in its eyes—it was indeed Angel!

Angel approached with a smile, greeting Dangross and Cubic.

Angel wasn’t aware of Dangross’s inner thoughts and casually exchanged a few pleasantries before turning his attention to Parry Mountains.

He had already learned from Lobal that shortly after his departure, Majesty Leaf had business and left too; since then, Parry Mountains had been accompanying them. Lobal and Speedy didn’t mind, but Parry Mountains’ company indeed made Dangross and Cubic more cheerful during this time.

”Thanks for your trouble these past few days,” Angel said gratefully. After all, this group of little ones was brought here by him.

Parry Mountains gave a cold snort, which counted as a response. If Nami Midori didn’t value Angel so much, Parry Mountains wouldn’t even bother to snort.

Angel wasn’t too surprised by Parry Mountains’ indifference; after all, he had somewhat tricked Parry Mountains at first, using some means to meet Nami Midori, which had left Parry Mountains always holding a grudge.

Angel himself felt a bit apologetic, naturally resigning to Parry Mountains’ attitude.

After saying a few more words of gratitude, Parry Mountains finally spoke, though only with limited hmm-hmm-ah-ah responses.
