Warlock Apprentice

Angel conducted numerous experiments back and forth, even though he could manipulate ”Energy Level Limitation” and ”Energy Selection” through the Ability Tree, given the current state of the Wilderness of Dreams, he could still only use level 0 Tricks.

This was already the limit.

Under such circumstances, using virtual Magic Power for combat, he was even outmatched by Dream Plant Fairies, let alone the Sin Hunting Group.

But that was just now, the future was uncertain.

Angel spent five or six hours researching virtual Magic Power, and when he came to himself, the sky of the Wilderness of Dreams had already started to darken.

Looking at the warm evening glow floating on the horizon, Angel muttered, ”Time to meet Popota.”

...

Popota emerged from the mother tree network, still with a hint of shock in his eyes.

Through nearly two days of experience, he had gained a rough understanding of the mother tree network. Initially, he didn’t take it seriously, but after truly experiencing it, he discovered the terrifying aspect of the mother tree network.

It brings the distant space-time closer to hand.

Moreover, the experience of ”being online” was particularly smooth. As a former Transcendent, Popota was well aware of the impact this mother tree network would have on the Wizard community if it appeared in the real world!

After logging out, according to Jon’s instruction, Popota continued writing down his thoughts on the mother tree network. The more he wrote, the more excited he became, and finally, he couldn’t help but look up at Jon opposite him, asking, ”Is the mother tree network a kind of ultra-long-distance communication device similar to a Signal Tower refined by Master Pat?”

Jon, who was also integrating and analyzing the data on the mother tree network, raised his eyebrows slightly upon hearing Popota’s question: ”You can think of it that way.”

After pausing, Jon’s tone shifted: ”However, as I’ve said before, if you still simply believe it’s just a substitute for a Signal Tower, then... it really disappoints me somewhat.”

Popota was stunned. In these two days, Jon had said similar words several times. Yet he remained somewhat unclear; wasn’t the greatest benefit of the mother tree network in making distance invisible? What else was there to uncover?

Popota’s puzzled expression conveyed his thoughts to Jon. Although Jon spoke of ”disappointment” verbally, he was actually quite satisfied with Popota overall because, as Angel had put it, Popota was the perfect assistant who could endure solitude, was not foolish, and could maintain a high level of focus for a long time.

Though Popota was puzzled, it seemed normal to Jon because Popota had never experienced the information age, and he wasn’t even aware that the Wilderness of Dreams itself inherently possessed a portion of communication abilities. Under such circumstances, his inability to make a perfect judgment was only natural.

At this moment, Jon rubbed his brow lightly: Should he tell Popota about the Wilderness of Dreams?

Before Angel handed over Popota to Jon, he had said that whether or not to inform Popota about the situation there was Jon’s call. Previously, Jon chose not to speak, wanting to maintain some mystery; now he’s rushing to explain, it seems undignified.

Yet not saying anything might limit Popota’s broadened perspective.

Just as Jon was feeling torn, a sudden gust of wind blew in through the slightly open window outside. The wind, by Jon’s ear, transformed into a deep male voice.

After listening to the voice by his ear, Jon’s previously furrowed brows due to distress gradually relaxed.

Popota didn’t notice Jon’s change in expression; he remained intent on finding the benefits of the mother tree network through his writings. While he was scribbling away, there was a coughing sound by his ear.

Popota looked up in confusion towards the source of the cough—Jon.

”Speaking of which, you’ve been in Originheart City for two days now and haven’t properly gone out to see.” Jon said slowly as Popota looked over: ”If you can’t figure it out now, why not go outside for a walk? You might get some inspiration.”

Before Popota could react, Jon pushed and shoved him out the door.

When he came to himself, he had already arrived at the front door of the Marine Theater.

Popota touched his nose, although feeling Jon’s actions were somewhat unusual, he didn’t contradict Jon’s intention. He was somewhat curious about the situation in Originheart City himself.

Previously, he had only seen the outside scenery from the balcony, generally discerning it was a human city, yet the intricate details required a personal experience.

He always wanted to know where Originheart City was, what this place was, and perhaps he could take advantage of this brief free time for exploration.

Popota looked around and finally focused his gaze on the tallest tower in the distance.

Previously, when Jon mentioned he should go out, he suggested visiting Sky Tower at least once. Although unaware of the reason, Popota, having no other destination in mind, decided to set Sky Tower as the first stop.

He didn’t know the exact route, but he could see Sky Tower with the naked eye, so as long as he headed in that direction, he would eventually reach it.

Along the way, Popota traversed through alleys and streets, observing all kinds of people.

In his view, these people were merely Mortals, though he was currently merely mortal too.

After observing the crowds, Popota also scrutinized the city’s architecture and details, aiming to deduce the general location of Originheart City from its style.

Nevertheless, it remained futile because the architectural styles here were diverse, and the overall planning differed from ordinary cities, conveying a sense of forcibly pieced-together varying styles.

Popota also questioned several passersby regarding building matters; they were friendly indeed but couldn’t provide clear answers; however, Popota learned that their rooms were initially provided by the official authority of Originheart City.

The official authority of Originheart City was currently in the Sky Tower.

With a head full of questions, Popota, after several detours, finally arrived at the destination, Sky Tower.

The surroundings of Sky Tower were very quiet, the only lively place was the nearby Little Garden.—On the way, Popota noticed that people here seemed very fond of staying near plants, though he didn’t know why.

Retracting his gaze, Popota walked towards the great door of Sky Tower.

Just as he reached the door, while contemplating whether to push it open, the tightly closed door suddenly swung open.

Several people with an overwhelming aura walked out from inside the door.

Under the pressure of this aura, Popota instinctively stepped aside, clearing a path.

This group paid him no mind, passing directly by him, heading for the end of the street, ultimately disappearing.

Popota stood in place, bewildered for a long time; he had always thought Originheart City was merely a city of Mortals, but now it seemed somewhat different... The aura emitted by that group didn’t resemble Mortals.

Moreover, one person had glanced back at him; Popota noted that the person’s head seemed to have a ”shadow image,” and that shadow was an exceptionally frightful-looking monster.

”Who are these people, exactly?” Popota couldn’t help but whisper to himself.

”Don’t be intimidated by their appearance; they’re actually Demon Hunters from the Sin Hunting Group, protectors of city safety.” At this time, a gentle female voice responded to Popota’s inquiry.

A young woman in professional attire spoke, and Popota, observing her curiously, heard her softly comment: ”I remember all the faces in the city, but yours is unfamiliar. Could you be the newcomer, Popota?”

Popota hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

”I recall the name, it’s quite unique.”

”Since you are Popota, then follow me. A few days ago, Young Master Tyson relayed a message; if you come to Sky Tower, you can directly meet him.” The young woman pointed inside the tower, signaling Popota to follow.
