Warlock Apprentice

Rhein rubbed his temples with some headache.

This matter had already exceeded his expectations. Initially, he thought Angel had gotten into some trouble and was being watched. He even targeted the Frost Moon Alliance as those who Angel might have provoked.

Rhein, feeling confident, planned to speak with Angel afterward in a heartfelt tone, assuring him not to worry, even if Monty was after him, he had ways to resolve it.

But as Angel spoke, Rhein was a bit dumbfounded because this situation was completely out of line with his imagined scenario!

He assumed it was Frost Moon watching Angel, but it wasn’t. He thought he could be the mediator, and even if he couldn’t mediate, rely on connections and strength to solve this for Angel, but that wasn’t possible either.

Rhein knew nothing about the internal structure, power levels, the number of people involved, or the range affected by the Sprout Sect. But considering the Sprout originated in the Origin World and hasn’t been annihilated by the Wizards there, it’s clear Sprout is no ordinary force.

Not ordinary in the Origin World, implying it may be even more terrifying in the Southern Domain.

The most important thing is, Sprout is in the dark, and they are in the light. Even if Rhein wanted to mediate, he couldn’t find anyone. Moreover, after hearing Angel’s account, Rhein understood the Sprout followers are basically madmen, and mediation is scarcely possible.

Rhein sighed deeply, ”The name ’Sprout’ does seem hopeful, but what it brings to this Wizards’ Realm is madness and despair.”

Rhein shook his head; not only have the Eternal Night Country changes and relic matters not been resolved, now there’s a Sprout Sect that could disrupt the entire Southern Domain’s base, truly a troublesome season.

The only fortunate thing is, there are still no traces of the Sprout Sect near the Pamiji Plateau. But such luck cannot be enjoyed silently because facing the erosion of the Sprout Sect, the Southern Domain Wizard World is united in prosperity and decline alike. Therefore, seeing such hidden dangers in Sky Mechanical City, they cannot be complacent and must find ways to share and block the burdens for Sky Mechanical City.

If they do nothing, once the Sprout Sect makes an entry into Sky Mechanical City, such a covert and hard to detect Sect will spread at the fastest pace, and the entire Southern Domain will not be spared.

More importantly, the followers of the Sprout Sect rely on the Sprout, this terrifying disorderly mysterious object, and normal divination is ineffective against it, making defense impossible!

After a long silence, Rhein looked at Angel across from him: ”Bring out the signal tower, I want to talk to the two City Lords of Sky Mechanical City.”

Angel nodded, Muse handed over the mini signal tower to him, which indirectly had the intention of contacting Rhein.

Taking out the silver gear button, with a moment of phantom shadow in space, a large mechanical device appeared before them.

Angel quickly adjusted the signal tower, and with the sound of ”beep beep beep,” the signal tower started operating.

”It is requesting connection now, should establish contact soon.” As soon as Angel finished speaking, a light screen appeared at the front of the mini signal tower.

After the screen flickered, a female apprentice in a blue and white uniform from Ashiliya Academy appeared before them.

Upon seeing Angel’s face, a hint of surprise flashed through her eyes, but she quickly returned to normal: ”Honorable Wizard, I am Amy, the guard of Signal Tower No. 1. May I ask whom you wish to contact?”

Angel: ”City Lord Rosen, and Dean Muse.”

Amy was stunned for a moment, but quickly nodded: ”Alright, please wait, I’ll contact them for you.”

On the light screen, Amy’s figure faded away.

Rhein sitting across smiled and said, ”Seems your reputation is quite substantial.”

For others directly wanting to contact the two City Lords of Sky Mechanical City, there’s a high probability they might be denied on the spot. But Angel could easily gain the other’s agreement to make the contact, showing Angel is deemed qualified to converse with the two City Lords in the other’s perception.

This indeed is a type of invisible reputation weight.

”If it were Lord Rhein, I believe Amy wouldn’t even hesitate.” Angel responded with a smile.

While Amy was contacting the two City Lords, Angel talked to Rhein about the topic of the ”mini signal tower.” Angel knew there were deeper meanings behind the signal tower, so he wasn’t aiming to have the Barbarian Cave install a signal tower, rather he wanted to use the topic of the signal tower to discuss information exchange, and... communicators.

After all, Lianna had requested him repeatedly, and Angel himself felt the crystal ball communicator was indeed outdated, so he wished to discuss it with Rhein.

However, Rhein’s love for the crystal ball exceeded Angel’s expectations. As soon as Angel brought up the communicators, Rhein excitedly started talking about the crystal ball communicator, then shifted to crystal balls, various materials, colors, and types... speaking extensively.

Under such circumstances, Angel felt embarrassed to propose modifications to the crystal ball communicator, so he only dryly laughed, quietly apologizing to Lianna in his heart.

Nonetheless, in just a few minutes, Angel acquired a lot of information about crystal balls. If not made into communicators, crystal balls indeed have other advantages, such as in divination, casting, and vision extension...

This crystal ball crash course lasted until the mini signal tower lit up again, prompting Rhein to stop.

On the light screen appeared a figure of Muse, smiling and greeting Angel like fellow peers, relaxed and easy-going, yet showing full respect when facing Rhein.

”Rosen isn’t here, so only I came,” Muse explained.

”City Lord Rosen isn’t here?” Angel asked with some surprise, as others leaving was normal, but Rosen leaving was quite peculiar.

”Because of the Sprout issue, Rosen went to other parts of Yirong Country to inspect, afraid there might still be Sprout remnants hidden in the shadows.” Muse paused, putting on a mournful expression, ”Poor me, now I have to oversee the Research and Development Institute and manage the main city affairs, so tired... If only you, Angel, were here, you could take over the Research and Development Institute and alleviate my worries.”

Angel shook his head repeatedly, ”Master Midora said overseeing the Research and Development Institute requires auditing and evaluation. I’ve only joined the Institute recently, definitely not viable.”

Muse smiled brightly, ”As long as I approve, you can go without evaluation.”

”No, I don’t want it, find someone else.” Angel decisively refused three times.

Muse showed an expression of patheticness in an attempt to feign distress, but before he could speak, a light voice came from the side of the light screen: ”The main city affairs and Research and Development Institute are currently managed by me...”

Angel recognized it was Antonio speaking.

Muse’s expression turned awkward as he glanced sideways, then laughed awkwardly, ”Don’t listen to Antonio’s nonsense, I’m not like that.”

In his heart, Angel silently replied: You are.

”Let’s not talk about tangents, back to the main topic,” Muse said, putting on a serious demeanor like the one who opened the ’tangent’ discussions wasn’t himself.

Angel was also unwilling to argue with Muse; now surely wasn’t the time for such matters, as the Sprout situation was urgent.

Angel gave way for Muse and Lord Rhein to directly engage in discussion.
