Warlock Apprentice

Angel sighed at Greya’s reputation as a seasoned Wizard while others began examining the anomaly of the live wire.

Why did the live wire no longer struggle fiercely on Angel’s right hand?

What was peculiar about Angel’s right hand?

Everyone had this doubt in their hearts, but no one voiced it.

Because those present could all see that Angel’s right hand held secrets. Although now that Angel had advanced to Official Wizard, he could conceal the anomaly of his right hand, others had noticed it even when he was still an Apprentice.

This might be Angel’s secret, so everyone was unsure whether to ask or how to begin asking.

At this moment, Sanders explained on behalf of Angel: ”His right hand can consistently emit an aura similar to the Nightmare Realm.”

As for why it emits the Nightmare Realm aura, Sanders did not elaborate, nor did anyone else ask.

After speaking, Sanders continued: ”Now, it can be confirmed. Even if the live wire is not a creature of the Nightmare Realm, it has some connection to the realm; otherwise, it couldn’t respond to the Nightmare Realm aura.”

Sanders was very aware of Angel’s condition; his right hand was the product of the Fusion of Projected Bloodline, the greatest peculiarity being the green Pattern.

However, the green Pattern required Angel to actively activate it, so the influence on the live wire must be the Nightmare Realm aura.

Angel realized at this point, although wearing gloves that isolated most of the Nightmare Realm aura, a portion had still escaped. Perhaps it was this escaping aura that caused the anomaly in the live wire.

”To confirm if it’s as I said, let’s test it.” Sanders extended his hand, and after a space ripple, a gemstone resembling a black pearl appeared in his palm.

Rich Nightmare Realm aura was emanating from the gemstone.

This was a Mare Stone, precious Demonic Material flowing from the Nightmare Realm and was also frequently used by Sanders during casting in the past.

Sanders took a leaf from Angel’s hand, and the live wire immediately resumed its strong desire to struggle, twisting nonstop in an attempt to break free from the energy Constraint on the leaf.

However, just as Sanders placed the Mare Stone near the leaf, the live wire suddenly stopped.

The rich Nightmare Realm aura enveloped the live wire, and its struggle slowed down until it seemed to fall asleep, motionless.

This simple experiment was enough to prove that the live wire had a clear behavioral response to the Nightmare Realm aura. This indicates that the Nightmare Realm aura can affect it.

Rhein couldn’t help but feel sentimental seeing this scene. He had thought in the past whether to use Nightmare Realm energy to test the live wire’s response. But he never went through with it, not because he lacked action but simply because Mare Stones were too scarce... Of course, for someone like Sanders, who frequents the Nightmare Realm, Mare Stones were sufficient, but for others, acquiring Mare Stones wasn’t easy.

Rhein: ”Since it has been confirmed that Nightmare Realm aura can affect the live wire, now what needs to be done is to think about how to use this influence.”

Whether this influence is good or bad, whether it can become the cornerstone to break through the live wire infection, remains unknown. But at least, after hitting a bottleneck in their research for so long, it’s the first time they see hope.

Sanders: ”It’s not difficult to determine how the Nightmare Realm aura can affect the live wire.”

Sanders turned and looked at each room in the corridor. Inside were mad patients influenced by the live wire, who were actually the best test subjects.

Since the Nightmare Realm aura could affect the live wire, what kind of reaction would the mad patients, who were controlled by the live wire, have under the Nightmare Realm aura?

...

In a narrow room, a frail woman in a hospital gown was sitting at the edge of the bed, gently stroking the red-eyed cloth doll in her arms.

Her movements were the same over and over in a cycle.

Until footsteps echoed from the corridor, she suddenly raised her head.

Sanders looked through the iron bars at the woman inside: ”Let’s start with her.”

While speaking, Sanders reached out and gently touched the bars.

The bars, like grids, suddenly disappeared, and the door completely opened!

When Sanders and his companions entered, the woman holding the doll started to laugh eerily, stood up slowly, her toes raising strangely, heading towards Sanders.

When she was still two meters away from Sanders, she suddenly stopped and extended her hand.

Although she didn’t speak, her gestures were clear, seemingly inviting Sanders to hold her hand.

Sanders remained motionless, but in the next moment, a human form illusion composed of numerous Illusion Nodes appeared in front of him, constructed carelessly, even lacking a face.

The illusion gently held the woman’s hand, and she immediately laughed, gracefully spun once, and began to dance with the illusion at the center of the room.

”What’s going on, is she a dancer?” Greya was somewhat confused by the current situation.

Tree Spirit shook his head: ”She was previously a seamstress, lived in Windmill Town all her life, doesn’t know how to dance.”

”Then what is she now...”

”She’s playing the role of a dancer.” Tree Spirit replied, ”Perhaps a dancer is one of her identities as an actor on the Puppet Theater Stage. Since she was infected, she’s become a dancer from an opera group, passionate about various waltz performances.”

”Whenever she sees someone, she forcibly drags them to dance. Then...”

”Twists off their hand.”

Just as Tree Spirit finished speaking, the graceful-looking dancer danced faster and faster, spinning ceaselessly, and the illusion’s hand seemed to turn into a twist.

”Is this the attack desire of the infected towards humans?” Greya asked.

Tree Spirit nodded: ”Yes, but this is just one kind. Every Puppet has different ways of expressing attack desires, these expressions will align with the identity they play. Take Yva, who you encountered today, he seems to play the role of a Vampire, so he is very fond of biting people’s necks.”

”Sounds absurd. This woman couldn’t dance before, where does her dance skill come from?” Greya still found it hard to believe.

”No one knows the answer to that question now. Perhaps only by curing her can we see the answer.” Tree Spirit said, looking at Sanders. The hope for curing these patients probably lies in Sanders’ upcoming experiment.

Sanders understood Tree Spirit’s meaning; after watching this absurd dance, he reached out and pointed into the Void.

The previous human illusion instantly shattered, countless Illusion Nodes recombined, forming a Mist Illusion, completely trapping the ’dancer’ in place.

Then, Sanders brought out the Mare Stone.

And began to slowly inject Nightmare Realm aura into the Illusion.

As Sanders performed this action, the dancer within the Illusion also began to exhibit unusual behavior.
