Warlock Apprentice

When Hanmu learned that his Mental Power Value was only six, he already recognized that reality did not revolve around him. He was just an ordinary person.

However, even as an ordinary person, Hanmu felt he was a ”lucky” ordinary person.

In the past thirty years, he has never experienced significant upheavals. Although not wealthy, he has never been poor either. He has not suffered from serious illness, his parents are healthy, and although he is still single, he enjoys the freedom of being single.

The reason Hanmu feels lucky is not just due to life’s smoothness but also... when Night Demon City underwent a sudden change and the entire city became a Ghost Phantom, Hanmu happened to not be in Night Demon City, escaping this disaster, isn’t this also a sign of luck?

Hanmu thought his luck might continue, allowing him to live a plain and peaceful life.

But unexpectedly, the reversal came quickly.

When Yva leaned his head on Hanmu’s shoulder and showed him a bloodthirsty and bizarre smile, Hanmu knew everything was over.

Just as Hanmu was about to be engulfed by darkness, he saw a man in a black suit walking towards him, using a cane to flick Yva away from his neck.

Without a doubt, this was a Wizard!

Hope flickered in Hanmu’s eyes, he struggled to extend his hand and exerted all his strength to say, ”Save...”

However, before he could say ”me,” he was engulfed by the whirlpool of darkness, entering a state of chaos.

In the long time that followed, Hanmu felt that he was endlessly traversing through a long and narrow tunnel, unaware of why he should keep walking, when it would end. He did not know the destination nor where the endpoint was.

His thoughts seemed to be weighed down by a mountain, and any logical thinking became difficult. The only thing he could do was to keep walking, walking until forever.

Just as Hanmu thought he would walk perpetually, merging with the darkness, he suddenly saw light.

He felt that the ”mountain” pressing against his thoughts seemed lighter.

Shortly thereafter, he vaguely saw some silhouettes appearing before him. He did not know who these silhouettes were, but he immensely hoped that they could pull him out of this dark tunnel.

He tried desperately to shout out, to ask for help, but he couldn’t; he couldn’t speak.

Still, hope hadn’t been completely extinguished. The mountain weighing on his thoughts continued to get lighter, perhaps, just a bit more, and he would be able to send out a signal.

Hanmu began to wait, waiting for that moment to arrive.

As time slowly passed, the blurry silhouettes in front of Hanmu became clearer; he could faintly see some outlines... it was him! It was the Wizard he saw before losing consciousness!

Was he saving me?

Yes, Hanmu sensed it, he was indeed saving him.

Upon confirming this news, Hanmu’s survival instinct began to rise infinitely, he even felt he could faintly challenge the ”mountain.”

Just a bit more! Once he overcomes it, he won’t need to suffer anymore, he’ll become... lucky Hanmu again.

Hanmu continuously motivated himself. Perhaps his self-encouragement actually worked, as he reached a certain critical point, Hanmu’s vision suddenly brightened, the previously blurry sight became clear, he saw the person saving him.

He was excited and wanted to say something, but at that moment, his head suddenly began to ache, like someone was stuffing cold bricks into his skull.

That pain was unprecedented.

However, Hanmu was not sad but joyful. He felt pain, indicating he had regained consciousness, might he still have a chance to recover?

As the brain pain reached its peak, Hanmu used all his strength and said to the person in front of him, ”Save... me...”

...

When Hanmu woke up again, it was pitch black outside the window. The glowing plants that absorbed light during the day seemed to have depleted it underground.

But the room was bright.

”Do you remember who you are?” A low, hoarse voice spoke beside his ear.

Hanmu lifted his head and saw a familiar figure, a middle-aged man in a black suit.

”You are...” Hanmu felt the person in front of him was familiar, he instinctively tried to recall who it was, but as he tried to think, his head throbbed with pain.

”You don’t need to worry about who I am, do you know who you are?”

Hanmu instinctively replied, ”I am Hanmu.”

The man nodded, said nothing more, and turned to leave the room. Hanmu wanted to call out to him, but didn’t know what to do after calling, so he watched him leave.

Outside the door was the hall on this floor.

Greya, sitting on the hall sofa, looked up at Sanders, ”How’s it going?”

”He’s regained consciousness, but there seem to be some after-effects. When pondering slightly complex problems, the brain enters a self-protective state.” Sanders sat opposite Greya.

”How long will this self-protective state last?”

”Unknown, maybe short-term, or possibly permanent.”

Greya sighed, ”Originally, I wanted to ask if he had any self-awareness during the infection period. Seems like it’s not possible now.”

At this time, the Tree Spirit leisurely sitting on a lounge chair, smiled and said, ”But at least he woke up, which is a good thing.”

”Moreover, the most important thing is that the research breakthrough on the alive line, after so long at a deadlock, finally saw the light.”

Tree Spirit turned to Sanders, it was Sanders who paved the way for this research. After Hanmu sent Sanders a rescue signal, Sanders continuously released Nightmare Realm aura, upon reaching a certain stage, Sanders managed somehow to extract the alive line from Hanmu’s body.

If this method can be widely applied, the alive line will no longer be a threat.

Tree Spirit was about to ask Sanders for specific details, but Sanders looked to the other side at this moment, ”Angel, what did you find?”

When Sanders went to check on Hanmu, he handed the alive line extracted from Hanmu’s body to Angel for observation.

When Sanders came out, seeing Angel’s eyes flashing with light, clearly having discovered something, he asked.

”This alive line is filled with Nightmare Realm aura,” Angel said, ”It’s not the same as the alive line Tree Spirit showed us before.”

The different cause is quite apparent, this alive line absorbed Nightmare Realm aura released by the Mare Stone earlier by Sanders.

”What’s the significance of imparting Nightmare Realm aura on this alive line?” Greya asked, puzzled.

”The significance is great,” Sanders spoke, not just to Greya but to everyone, ”Why was the alive line extracted from Hanmu? That’s the significance.”
