Warhammer Divine Throne

Midsummer Festival, one of the traditional festivities of the Old World Human Realm, held annually around June; on this day, people light bonfires, celebrating the arrival of summer.

Since Laine came to the Baron’s Domain of Gene, this territory has undergone drastic changes, with more wooden buildings being erected and roads extending across the fields, linking five villages and towns.

Brand new canals draw clean water from the Xinong River, irrigating the farms.

The peasants are delighted to find that even during leisure times, there are things to do; the Master Knight has issued various summons, offering many paid jobs for those willing, greatly improving their lives.

More projects are still under construction; along the Xinong River, many workshops have taken shape, attracting numerous free people to migrate to the Baron’s Domain of Gene, looking for opportunities to advance.

Tomorrow is Midsummer Festival, all the peasants will collectively go to the Lord’s Castle, where they will each receive a cup of Ale Beer and a piece of rye bread as per the names on the roster, a token of mercy from the Master Knights.

Atop the Baron Castle, Laine is hosting a banquet with his retainers, attended by his Tax Officer Gaspardon, Steward Kasenberg, his brother Angerong, Paladin Alfred, and two Ranger Knights Lops and Olivier.

Unknowingly, the Baron’s own team has gradually solidified; Lops and Olivier have recruited several Knight’s Squires, and as for the Big Guy Angerong, Laine explained that he is his brother, exiled here for a misdeed, and taken in by himself.

Which seems quite fine.

Many of the Nord people up north are quite tall, although Angerong is excessively tall, no one paid particular attention to it.

With fine wine and luxurious food, candle lights flickering on large wooden tables and walls; ever since Laine implemented differential treatment for peasants, labor and enthusiasm have indeed surged, speeding up progress on projects significantly, allowing artisans to quickly prepare the banquet hall for the Baron’s use despite many places upstairs and on the spire still undergoing renovation and with the walls still being constructed.

Laine raised his ivory goblet, addressing everyone present: ”Ladies and gentlemen, let us all drink to this cup, I wish health to all of you!”

”To everyone’s health!” Everyone raised their goblets, ale foam splashing, with Angerong’s gulp the fastest as he downed a large cup of Ale Beer in one go then belched contentedly, continuing to feast ravenously.

Everyone looked at him with a bit of apprehension.

Initially, people within the territory thought the Baron’s brother came here looking for asylum and freeloading.

However, ever since the Baron actively asked him to train himself, everyone witnessed the Big Guy’s true prowess.

He captured Laine, the Lake Fairy Chosen Champion, and hammered him relentlessly, leaving the Legendary Middle-tier Holy Grail Knight powerless in front of the Big Guy, beaten black and blue and utterly embarrassed.

Laine didn’t mind either; his wounds often healed completely overnight, so the next day he would once again seek out his brother, only to be beaten senseless again, searching for his teeth all over the ground.

Over time, everyone understood that the Baron’s brother named Angerong had unfathomable strength, and held him in high esteem.

The gathering continued as everyone sat down to dine again.

Then, a dining cart was pushed into the banquet hall from outside by the dark elf Ollica.

”Oh! My goodness, could it be?”

”Praise the Lady!”

”My Baron, you are incredibly generous!”

Smelling the sweet aroma, some had already guessed what had been brought in.

”Thank the Lady, she granted us such delicious food, today I am sharing it with everyone, hoping you will devote yourselves fully to your work,” Laine stood up and walked to the dining cart.

Removing the lid, one by one, small white breads appeared before everyone.

The breads were small, no bigger than Laine’s fist, baked to a golden hue on the surface, emanating a sweet scent with delicate cream spread atop.

”It’s the Queen’s Bread! It really is the Queen’s Bread!” Gaspardon stood up, the Tax Officer’s face filled with excitement, nearly moved to tears: ”My Baron, what have we done to deserve such reward from you?”

”This is a reward for everyone’s hard work, and an encouragement for upcoming recruitment efforts,” Laine smiled.

Thus, the small white circular breads were distributed among everyone, each person receiving one piece, palm-sized, but besides Angerong, Laine’s brother, all considered it a precious gift, carefully slicing and savoring with knife and fork.

Only Angerong smiled at his brother, as the World-Devourer Primarch grabbed one to devour in a single bite, then nodded satisfactorily, giving a thumbs-up to his brother.

Laine observed and chuckled.

The breads were crafted using finely milled wheat flour sent by Lake God Witch Mogiana, mixed with eggs, milk, honey, and vanilla, and using ale yeast instead of regular dough yeast, meticulously fermented and baked into cream bread known as ”Queen’s Bread.”

To Laine coming from the Celestial Dynasty of a previous life, this type of bread might not be unusual, but in this world, this cream bread is genuinely a super luxury item, an ultra-high-class indulgence even unattainable for kings to enjoy at every meal.
