Warhammer Divine Throne

”The Primarch is quite famous, we ’inquired’ of several passing nobles and learned that the Primarch is about to proceed to Gene Territory to assume the position of Baron, so we came here in advance to wait for you.” The leading commander of the Imperial Guard nodded, taking a huge bite of roast meat: ”Rest assured, we’ve dealt with all the non-human creatures who saw us, and as for humans, we told them we are the divine envoys of their so-called gods.”

”Alright.” Mr. Laine could only accept the situation helplessly, taking a large swig of beer before continuing: ”Then I’ll trouble you all for help during the upcoming period.”

”We will help you guard your castle but will not assist you in expeditions. We will protect your family and your friends but will not hinder your growth.” The commander of the Imperial Guard conveyed the Emperor’s order to Laine: ”We will only ensure you can continue your mission without worrying about anything else, this is the Emperor’s command.”

”Thank you very much, how should I address you?” Actually, this was exactly what Laine wanted. Clearly, the strength of these few Emperor’s Guards was already approaching the highest level in this world, and the Emperor did not want their presence to hinder his growth.

”You can call me Big Guy, and these are Shorty, Big Sheep, and Black Glove.” The commander of the guards said with a smile.

”Uh, can I know your real name?” Laine thought to himself, aren’t these just nicknames?

”My real name? My real name is Pablo-Diego-José-Francisco-de-Carlos-Paula-Juan-Alba-de-Ross-Remedios-da-Silva-Cipriano-Felipe-La-Santísima-Trinidad…”

”Enough, enough, I’ll stick to calling you by your nickname!” Laine quickly said.

He had forgotten that the Emperor’s Guards initially each had only one name, but with the completion of each mission, they were awarded a new name as a symbol of honor.

Over time, these guards each ended up with hundreds of names…

”In fact, we also use nicknames to address each other amongst ourselves, it makes communication easier!” Big Guy skewer a whole piece of golden, crispy roasted venison with a wooden skewer and handed it to Laine: ”Here, to our Primarch, Laine Macado.”

”Alright then.” Laine also let loose, eating heartily with the four guards.

”I remember it’s been years since we had something so purely flavored.” Big Guy grabbed a roasted deer leg and started gnawing on it. Laine felt he seemed quite hungry, so he laughed and said: ”Don’t they have such things in the Imperial Palace?”

”Well, they do…” Shorty chimed in: ”But most of the time we eat synthesized food, and while there is food with natural ingredients, most are canned.”

”Besides, protecting the Emperor is more important than what we eat.” Big Guy added.

”Oh, by the way, we brought something for you this time.” The guard with the nickname Big Sheep suddenly stood up, and together with the one called Black Glove, carried a large iron box in front of Laine.

”What’s this?” Laine had a premonition and stood up.

”This was specially crafted for you by the Great Sage Belisarius Kaur of the Mars Mechanic God Cult, following the Emperor’s command: a piece of Masterwork Power Armor composed of Grey Knights’ Holy Shield.” Black Glove opened the box: ”Please try it on.”

”Alright!”

When the silver full-body Masterwork Power Armor was equipped, Laine could feel endless power converging within the armor. His spiritual energy driving the numerous functions of the armor, aside from constructing the Holy Shield energy field to resist ranged attacks and self-repairing through spiritual energy, many more functions await his exploration.

In the forest, the guards and Laine revelled until dawn.

......

The next morning, Laine returned to the Baron Castle alone.

The guards were already hidden in the shadows, there were many places to hide within the Baron’s Domain, Laine and them agreed that unless confronted by a powerful enough enemy, the guards would not appear.

The real importance was Laine’s own growth, which was the main reason the Emperor sent the guards to assist Laine, he hoped that Laine could grow without any worries, rather than having the guards handle everything.

Moreover, Laine could vaguely feel that the Emperor’s guards coming to this world might have other tasks to accomplish, since Big Guy, as the leader, mentioned his father’s interest in the Ancient Saint Relics of Lustria.

But for now, these matters had nothing to do with him.

The Land Inspection Order had been issued, and as the Tax Officer, Gaspardon, along with his soldiers, were conducting thorough inspections of Gene Territory’s lands and population to ensure every piece of land was taxed. Lops and Alfred also participated in this operation.

Laine sat in the office on the second floor of the castle.

He needed to design his own family crest.

Every Great Noble must own a family crest, and as a baron, Laine required a family crest of his own.

A true family crest is very complex, and Laine didn’t plan to design it extremely intricately, yet the three essential components of a family crest—shield, crest, and motto—needed consideration.

The shield is a symbol of the family, the crest represents the family’s status, and the motto embodies the family’s tradition.

Laine didn’t intend to create something from scratch since he had something available to reference.

Thus, our newly appointed baron began his design, leaning over the table.

Head Maid Amelia and his personal maid Ollica stood by his side watching his creation.

”Mr. Laine, are you choosing a red and white shield?” Amelia asked.

”Yes!” Laine nodded.

In shield design, color requirements are quite deep, a standard shield typically consists of two colors: metallic (gold or silver) and background (blue, red, purple, black, green). The colors of the shield must be clear to prevent confusion.

First, a vertical line down the middle separated the red and white colors. Then, the emblem of a book appeared in the shield’s center, pierced from top to bottom with a sharp sword, topped by a bright red seal.

A baron’s crest was placed at the top of the shield, symbolizing Laine’s baron status.

”I still feel like something’s missing,” Laine lifted his head, asking Amelia.

”Hmm~ Mr. Laine, why did you pierce a book with a sword?” Amelia thought for a while and asked.

”Because knowledge is power,” Laine smiled.

”I still feel like something’s lacking, many family crests use animals or symbols, Master, I feel you should add something too, if it’s just this, it’s too plain.” Ollica also offered her advice.

After opening up last night, the expression on the dark elf girl seemed a bit less aloof and more human.

So Laine buried himself back into his work, completely oblivious to the changes in the room.

A silver skull was placed in the center of the book on the shield.

”Well, this is great now.” Seeing the silver skull, Laine said with satisfaction.

”Why do you always like to adorn yourself with skulls?” a captivating female voice whispered in his ear, along with the scent of fresh flowers and grass filled his senses.

”Because skulls are a sacred symbol of humanity!” Laine said matter-of-factly, while also feeling puzzled at why his two maids seemed so close when speaking to him.

He suddenly realized something wasn’t right.

Looking up, the Lake Fairy was smiling at him: ”My Lady?!”

”Designing your family crest?” The Lake Fairy first smiled at Amelia, then turned an icy gaze towards Ollica for a moment, before motioning them to leave.

The two maids immediately withdrew, with Ollica stealing a look at the Lake Fairy, a glint flashing in her eyes.

As expected, this so-called Guardian God of the Knight Kingdom was indeed that…
