Three Towers Game

Chapter 65: Chapter 51: Slaughter on a Rainy Night

Resentment and hatred, anger and frustration, of course, these existed, but they were all masked by repeated phrases like ”I’m doing this for your own good.”

”Don’t embarrass me.” ”Aren’t you ashamed enough?” ”You really are clueless...”

All the emotional repression caused by her craving for love throughout her life has never actually been released.

Even after a long time, she realized that no one ever loved her. At the end of her life, Tang Rui just wanted to go crazy once.

She lifted her head, her eyes filled with endless sparks, but also with struggle.

Because there are still too many rules in this world binding her.

Wen Xishu was also very aware of this, if the apocalypse were still far in the future, if the world wouldn’t descend into chaos...

He wouldn’t have extended such an invitation.

If he had ample time, he would, like many protagonists in movies and TV shows, design a meticulously plotted revenge plan that wouldn’t be punished by law.

But if he had less than forty-eight hours, Wen Xishu would choose to do those unfeasible things alone.

Seeking revenge in a martial arts story might be met with cheers and applause. But in a harmonious and orderly reality, it is considered evil and brutal.

Fortunately, the end is near.

A time where the only truth is survival of the fittest is soon to come. Wen Xishu decided to give Tang Rui an opportunity, but he also handed over the power of choice to her.

”We’ve had the wine, you know what it feels like, but you can choose not to believe me, whether to stay or leave, it’s entirely up to you.”

Thunder crashed, night turned into day, and for that brief moment, all the lights in the bar dimmed under the thunder’s glare.

The next instant, Tang Rui also stood up, suddenly wanting to stop thinking, just like not long ago when she allowed herself to play a game of unprecedented truth or dare with a stranger.

She finally stopped struggling and grabbed Wen Xishu’s hand.

”Alright, let’s go kill them all.”

...

...

In history, this rainstorm in Jiangcheng lasted for a full three days, causing the drainage system in Jiangcheng to be paralyzed.

These three days of rain troubled many people, but not Yan Zhihai, Professor Yan.

Many years ago, Yan Zhihai understood one thing, that education couldn’t make him rich, but the vanity of parents could.

Take for example a math competition initiated by a private tutoring center, he was the examiner and also the one who set the questions. He also hyped up the prestige of this competition.

Naturally, many parents would have their students participate in the competition. Before the exam papers were finalized, Yan Zhihai could arrange for some students to know which questions would appear in advance.

Repeating this process several times, Professor Yan made quite a fortune over the years.

To some parents, a child’s poor academic performance is a disease, and Professor Yan Zhihai is the renowned doctor who can cure it.

Their children, who never really loved studying, transformed into award winners of various competitions. This significant change made Yan Zhihai a highly respected teacher among them.

No matter how poor a student’s learning was, in the series of competitions arranged by Professor Yan, they could always achieve a rank.

In this process, whether the children suffered or endured humiliation was not important. Because externally, they could proudly say, my child won an award in a competition.

Yan Zhihai knew better than anyone that it wasn’t the struggling children who were sick, but the parents who couldn’t achieve things themselves and hoped their children would.

There were many such parents.

So on such a rainy night, while some were shivering in underground parking lots to avoid the rain, and some were hurriedly fleeing from subway stations...

Professor Yan could lie on the terrace of his three-story villa, comfortably listening to the rain under a massive outdoor umbrella.

He wasn’t just listening to the rain, beside him was a shivering little girl, her face filled with fear.

Yan Zhihai was very happy.

Especially after finishing the phone call with the girl’s parents, watching the light gradually fade from her eyes excited him immensely.

He was grateful for this world, everything was wonderful—the morning sun, the nights, the rain, the lightning.

The parents, who were too busy to attend to their children and blindly trusted teachers, made him feel everything was beautiful.

Many kids feared thunder, and the child beside Yan Zhihai was no exception.

When the child looked at Yan Zhihai with trembling fearful eyes—

Yan Zhihai suddenly felt inspired, thinking he could write an article urging people to let go of their obsessions and appreciate the world’s beauty.

Published, it would surely receive many likes, and parents would marvel at their extraordinary perspective and trust him even more as an excellent teacher.

As the thunderstorm raged on, the child finally couldn’t hold back and started to wail loudly.

The wailing was also beautiful, but it somewhat disturbed his creative inspiration. Yan Zhihai frowned, raising his fat hand to slap down.

Suddenly, voices broke through the sound of the rain.

”Are you sure this is the place?”

”No mistake, I could never let go. I always quietly gathered information about each of them.”

”Good, one should never forget their roots, nor their grudges, maintain this admirable quality.”

Clear and hoarse voices, as if deliberately wanting to be heard, spoke loudly.
