The Legendary Method Actor

Although the situation has changed the Starr siblings were not merely performers; they were combatants trained by the College of Arcanum. If their instruments were broken, they would become the instruments.

”Even without instruments I can still make music!”

Francesca declared, spitting a drop of blood onto the marble. She gazed at the towering, blind monstrosity and drew upon her Vocal Enchantment. Channeling mana directly into her vocal cords,

She cast the 1st-Circle spell: Siren’s Command.

”KNEEL!”

She roared, the command laced with such dense, dominating compulsion magic that the sheer frequency forced the massive beast to buckle, its heavy knees crashing into the floorboards.

Seeing the opening his sister created, Dylan didn’t hesitate and decided to use his trump card. He crossed his tonfas and tapped his thighs in a frantic, blinding rhythm.

He cast the 3rd-Circle spell: Haste.

His heartbeat magically accelerated to supernatural levels. Dylan became a blur of kinetic motion, launching himself at the kneeling beast. He unleashed a devastating, high-speed barrage, his ironwood tonfas striking the beast’s chest, ribs, and joints dozens of times in mere seconds.

”Drop the beat!”

Krystle roared. Her true, hyper-dense physiology was unleashed. She leaped ten feet into the air, channeling all her mana into her foot.

She cast again the 1st-Circle spell: Earth Tremor

She slammed both feet directly onto the beast’s back. This time the acoustic-kinetic shockwave was much stronger than when she cast the spell earlier. It cracked the marble foundation of the ballroom and cratering the floor beneath the monster.

But the Destrachan was the acoustic mage ultimate hard counter.

As the dust cleared, the beast slowly rose to its feet. Its massive, tubular skull glowed with a blinding purple light. It hadn’t taken damage; it had eaten the kinetic force of Krystle’s stomp and every single one of Dylan’s accelerated strikes. The beast shook off Francesca’s vocal command, its resonance chambers swelling as it prepared to unleash a massive, concentrated sonic blast that would obliterate all three exhausted siblings in a single strike.

As Ray watched the siblings’ situation become unfavorable and even dangerous, He plunged into the Ambient Presence of his mind.

Eccentric Scholar: ”Fascinating. The brute Head of the Academy Security is correct, according to the abyssal bestiaries, that is indeed a Destrachan. A monstrosity bred in the deep dark, it possesses no eyes and navigates entirely through echolocation. That tubular skull is a highly advanced biological resonance chamber; it literally eats kinetic and sonic energy. Random noise will only feed it.”

Primal Naturalist: ”Crikey, would ya look at the size of those resonance chambers! The monster is dangerously beautiful. A perfect, purpose-built apex predator! But here’s the rub, mate, the monster can’t just hold all that energy forever. To weaponize it and fire it back, he’s gotta open his internal biological valves. If we shove a massive, foreign frequency right down her throat the exact moment those valves are wide open... bam. The conflicting pressures will create a catastrophic internal feedback loop. We’ll blow his gorgeous skull right open!”

Ray snapped his eyes open.

He remembered the terrifying physical strength behind Krystle’s clapping technique.

I can do that. With my enhanced physical body tempered to the monstrous strength and durability equal to a Gold Aegis, I could withstand the recoil of a point-blank kinetic detonation.

Ray thought.

He immediately initiated Concurrent Partial Immersion and layered in the Grizzled Commander and the Stoic Assassin.

Activating the Grizzled Commander’s ‘Commander’s Eye,’ Ray saw the monster’s neck bulged as it prepared to unleash a lethal, concentrated sonic blast that would obliterate the martial artist.

This is it!

Ray thought as he made a move, he activated the Stoic Assassin’s ‘Flowing Shadow Technique,’ his physical presence simply vanished from the sensory world. His heartbeat slowed to an almost undetectable crawl. His breathing stopped. As he stepped forward, his boots made absolutely zero sound against the debris-littered floor.

To the blind, echolocating beast, Ray had ceased to exist.

While the monster reared back, its tubular skull glowing with destructive sonic energy aimed entirely at the desperate siblings, Ray seamlessly glided through the battlefield like a phantom. He slipped right past the beast’s sweeping echolocation sweeps, positioning himself in its ultimate blind spot, point-blank range, right beside its horrific, hollow head.

Ray waited. He needed the timing to be flawless.

The beast opened its maw. The thick biological valves inside its skull dilated wide open, preparing to push the devastating shockwave out toward Dylan, Francesca, and Krystle.

Ray dropped the stealth technique. He channeled a terrifying amount of shimmering, Primordial Aether directly into his hands.

At the edge of the ballroom, three heads snapped toward the monster simultaneously. Headmaster Andrade, Master Alvon, and the towering Gold Aegis, Svane, all possessed terrifyingly high perception. Yet, until this exact moment, they hadn’t noticed that the 1st-Circle Novice had even moved.

Master Alvon’s eyes widened in shock. The boy hadn’t just crossed the room; he had completely erased his existence from their senses. They were only noticing him now because he was allowing himself to be seen.

Mirroring Krystle’s brutal technique, Ray drew his hands back. He didn’t waste breath on an incantation. The Destrachan hunted by sound, and Ray was about to give it all the sound it could eat.

Utilizing his Aether-Infusion Technique, he forced his dense, Primordial mana directly into the spell matrix.

He cast the Aether-Infused version of the cantrip spell: Thunderclap.

Ray brought his hands together with monstrous, supernatural force right over the beast’s open valves.

Because the beast’s resonance chambers were wide open to push energy out, Ray’s point-blank spell forced a massive, incredibly dense wave of kinetic pressure straight back in. The Aether-Infused Thunderclap spell transformed the sound wave into a localized anti-gravity shockwave.

The result was catastrophic.

The conflicting frequencies and the heavy shockwave pressure created an inescapable feedback loop inside the beast’s hollow skull. The immense kinetic density of the Aether-Infused Thunderclap spell instantly shattered the floor beneath them and violently launched the massive monstrosity ten feet straight up into the air.

A sickening series of muffled pops echoed from within the creature as its own internal resonance chambers violently ruptured in mid-air. The anti-gravity shockwave then reversed, violently slamming the broken beast back down into the cratered earth.

The beast collapsed instantly, hitting the marble floor like a puppet with its strings cut.

The massive strain of the internal trauma shattered the polymorph magic. The reptilian scales dissolved, the tubular skull shrank back into a human shape, and the monstrous form melted away.

A familiar blue transparent screen appeared before Ray.

[SKILLED APPLICATION DETECTED]

[EVENT: TACTICAL AETHER-INFUSED STRIKE (THUNDERCLAP)]

[PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: ADEPT]

[ANALYSIS: Host successfully utilized Concurrent Partial Immersion to execute a highly coordinated, high-risk counter-attack. The application of the Stoic Assassin’s ’Flowing Shadow Technique’ flawlessly bypassed high-tier detection, while the Grizzled Commander’s ’Commander’s Eye’ identified the exact moment required for optimal strike timing. Furthermore, the host skillfully mimicked a strength based spell casting technique and has successfully integrated the ’Aether-Infusion Technique’ with a sonic cantrip to force a catastrophic kinetic feedback loop. While the physical mimicry of the technique is in its inaugural stages and lacks structural refinement, the tactical execution and timing were highly proficient. Large mastery gain.]

[Flowing Shadow Technique: +15% (CAPSTONE already reached, adding half of mastery gain to the next archetype skill ’Stealth & Silent Movement’), Commander’s Eye: +5%.]

Ray dismissed the notification as he saw what remained of Bastian Sterling, lying in a pool of his own blood, his aristocratic clothes torn to shreds, broken and completely unconscious.

The grand ballroom fell into a stunned, ringing silence, save for the heavy, ragged breathing of the exhausted combatants.

Ray let out a long, measured breath, the shimmering aether fading from his hands. He turned his attention away from the cratered floor and quickly closed the distance to where the Starr siblings were slumped against the ruined marble.

”Is everyone okay?”

Ray asked, his voice returning to its calm tone.

Dylan was leaning heavily against a stone pillar, coughing as he pressed a hand to his bruised ribs. Francesca and Krystle were sitting beside him, both bleeding slightly from their ears due to the Destrachan’s anti-magic screech, their faces pale with mana exhaustion.

”We’ll live, though I think I’m going to be hearing a ringing sound for the next couple of days. Good gods, Lord Croft... what was that?”

Dylan rasped, offering a pained, lopsided grin.

Before Ray could answer, the frantic clicking of heels echoed across the room. Lady Jane Starr abandoned all pretense of aristocratic composure. She rushed across the debris-littered floor, dropping to her knees and pulling all three of her children into a desperate, trembling embrace.

”Dylan! Francesca! Krystle! Are you alright? Oh, thank the Founders...”

She sobbed, checking them frantically for severe wounds.

”We’re okay, Mother. We’re okay,”

Krystle murmured softly, leaning her head against her mother’s shoulder.

With the family reunited, the heavy boots of the academy guards shattered the remaining silence. Headmaster Andrade strode into the damaged ballroom, her expression an unreadable mask of absolute authority.

”Master Alvon… Secure the prisoner. Bind him with suppression cuffs and have the academy healers stabilize him. I want him alive for questioning.”

”At once, Headmaster.”

Master Alvon replied, moving swiftly to drag the unconscious, bloodied form of Bastian Sterling away from the blast zone.
