The First Store System

Chapter 218: Karma(1)

After reading about the badge and the outrageous abilities, Brinda thanked Aakesh for giving it to her.

At first, she thought of giving it back to him since if someone found out about the ability of the badge, she and the Kingdom would be in big trouble. The next moment, however, she believed Aakesh was doing this to make good relations with the Kingdom, so if she refused, it would be as if she refused his good intentions, or so Brinda thought and didnʼt return the badge.

After making this decision, she thanked Aakesh. Then she thought that one thanks werenʼt enough, so she thanked him again and kept doing so until Aakesh had to stop her. He then told her to leave since he had gotten irritated by her voice.

Before leaving, Brinda tried to listen to Aakeshʼs thoughts, hoping that someone strong like him may follow her rule.

But, instead of getting to listen to his thoughts, a threat had subconsciously appeared inside her head. If she dared to do this again, her consciousness and soul would shatter as punishment. Her face had gotten pale as when the warning appeared, she felt as if someone was thrashing her consciousness, and an unspeakable pain emerged, but unfortunately for her, she couldnʼt release it in a scream and had to feel it inside and contain it.

Her pain didnʼt last long as with the warning, the pain faded away as though it were only an illusion. Colors returned to her face as she took a glance at Aakesh. The next moment, she heaved a sigh of relief as Aakesh had his eyes closed.

It was the system that had sent her a warning since the badge failed to break through the protective barrier set by it. Aakesh didnʼt even feel a thing.

She silently bowed and left the store right away as that painful experience was still fresh in her mind.

Right when she exited the door of the store, the feeling of that experience also disappeared. She couldnʼt help but heave a sigh of relief. A wry smile then appeared on her face, thinking about her foolishly trying to read Aakeshʼs thoughts.

”Letʼs not do anything foolish like this again. The safety of your Kingdom depends on your actions,” She muttered and then took a deep breath to forget thinking about it.

Unknown to Brinda, not long after she left the store, a man left the store and proceeded in the direction she had walked in. The sound of footsteps woke Aakesh. He recognized the man since it was the same man who had followed the couple yesterday for the sword and then killed them in the end.

The murder of the couple had become news and spread like fire across the Kingdom since both the victims belonged to other Kingdoms and had high-level connections. Rupertʼs father had also arrived here in the morning and asked Aakesh about his son since the last contact he had with his son was when he had told him that he would return after purchasing from his store.

During that time, if the murderer had been inside the store, Aakesh would have given Rupertʼs father the identity of the man. But fortunately for the man, he only entered the store a few hours after Rupertʼs father had left the store with a disappointed face.

After the man left the store, Aakesh closed his eyes back. He didnʼt worry about Brinda or the badge since the man was going to his own death.

There were more than enough abilities in the badge to allow Brinda to defend against peak Immortals, not to mention a meager Tao Seed level robber. The only question was whether he would be able to escape.

Since Aakesh had nothing to do, Aakesh activated the skill, ʼWatcherʼ on Brinda, and the next moment, a screen showing her walking on the road while muttering something began playing inside his head.

To calm her mind and forget about the experience she had inside the store, she took out the badge from her space ring. Her mind subconsciously became happy seeing it, and she occasionally hummed as she walked.

Brinda still hadnʼt bonded with the badge yet because she felt it would be better if she did it on the coronation day. That way, it will become the king and Kingdomʼs treasure, and every citizen would be able to feel the glory their Kingdom is going to have in the future.

After Punta left yesterday, she hadnʼt got any message from him.

Two days later, there will be Brindaʼs coronation ceremony, and in the ceremony, the previous king hands the throne and the crown to the new king. But Punta had disappeared for an entire day without even telling when he would return, just when the ceremony was around the corner.

”Grandfather mustʼve returned since it has already been more than a day. Iʼm sure he would love this badge,” Brinda muttered while walking. When she thought about Puntaʼs reaction when she showed him the details about the badge, she couldnʼt help but feel excited and conflicted.

Her conflicted feelings stemmed from thinking how Punta would feel when he saw the details of the present, which the murderer of his only son had given her.

As for her, she had already gotten over it since remembering it would only make the situation worse for the Bisan Kingdom. For cultivators who fought death all the time, dying is only a part and was to be as respected as life.

Some cultivators like Punta, who were very attached to their loved ones, couldnʼt let go of their family memberʼs death, but the majority of the cultivators got over it easily. Pinto may be Brindaʼs father, but she wasnʼt overly attached to him. Pinto was neither a good nor a bad father. He rarely acted as a father for many of his children when he was alive.

Thinking about it dampened her mood. She took a deep breath to calm herself. She will be a king two days later, and the positive psyche was currently the most needed attribute for her if she wanted to leave a good impression on her citizens.

For hereditary kings, the impressions of citizens may not matter much, but no one could deny the fact, the better the impression the subjects have of their king, the smoother the rule.

She repeated the same process and looked at the badge again to feel good, and as she had expected, a smile subconsciously appeared on her face.
