Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 817: Chapter 341: Containment (Part 2)

As the progenitor of the Bionic Man who holds the Authority of ’Reverse Bionics’, Prometheus couldn’t be unaware that she was surrounded by a crowd.

Yet Prometheus only stared blankly at the tombstone without any reaction.

”In legend, the first human to use fire brought humanity into the era of slash-and-burn agriculture. The first to discover electricity ushered humanity into the industrial age. The inventor of the Difference Machine led humanity into the information age.”

The speaker paused.

”In the history of bionic humans, it’s the same. The first bionic human to successfully implant an emotional module transformed them from machines into an intelligent species. The first to implant computational chips initiated the evolution era of bionic humans. The first to complete nanobiology allowed bionic humans to evolve into a new species.”

”You are the first bionic human to implant an emotional module, you are the Adam and Eve of all of us bionic humans.”

Prometheus turned her head, and only then did she notice a woman standing behind Black Rose, a girl with very lively eyes.

”Who are you?”

”Aixin, a bionic scientist from the Tri-Element Group,” Aixin paused and said, ”By the way, I was a member of the Bionic Human Research Society back then, and my ancestor was Eva.”

”A descendant of Eva?”

Prometheus suddenly remembered the round-faced female scientist from a hundred years ago and smiled faintly.

”Yes, if she knew you were still alive, she’d be very happy.”

”Perhaps.”

”And there’s also the descendants of Professor Lin, who would also love to meet you.”

Prometheus’ face became complex, and after a while, she said, ”So, he got married.”

”For carbon-based species, suppressing their reproductive instincts is not easy, whereas bionic humans hold their promises better,” Black Rose said with a smile.

”But he left many letters for you.”

Aixin handed over a stack of yellowed letters, and Prometheus accepted them with reverence, reading one page after another.

It was only after an entire hour that Prometheus finished the last page, looking at the tombstone with a complex expression, she suddenly smiled gently.

”I understand now.”

She looked towards Black Rose.

”Let’s begin.”

Black Rose nodded, and the next moment, her finger with red-painted nails gently touched Prometheus’ forehead.

Prometheus’ body visibly melted, being absorbed into Black Rose’s body.

”Is that the end?” Aixin was incredulous, ”She didn’t resist?”

”Her era is over, and as she doesn’t wish to step into a new era, giving up is a wise choice.”

Black Rose paused and said:

”Also, your little cleverness was found out.”

Aixin was stunned, ”Impossible, I’ve read every letter, and there’s no news about marriage.”

Black Rose smiled without answering, her graceful figure walking away.

But Aixin quickly let the matter go and asked excitedly, ”Having absorbed two primordial energies, can the divine plan be executed now?”

”Soon, but we’ll have to wait a bit longer.”

”Wait for what?”

”Wait for me to create something.”

”What is it?”

”Species Evolution Machine,” Black Rose turned back, looking at the letters scattered in front of the grave.

”I also wish to leave some letters for someone.”

...

At this moment, in a bionic hospital, Gao Gong stood in the corridor with a peculiar expression.

Bionic Hospital, a specific type of hospital established after the enactment of the Bionic Human Bill.

Currently, with the help of invisibility, no one could see him.

In the corridor, there were many bionics, suffering from various unusual ailments, like emotional chip malfunctions, prosthetic body coordination issues leading to disabilities, others attempting to change gender, take an animalistic route, erase their memory to become their own partner’s child.

These all fall within the rights of the Bionic Human Bill.

Though somewhat odd from a human’s perspective, as with purely different races, you can do whatever you like, but with bionics having faces and bodies almost identical to humans, yet moral ethics diverging from humans, it triggers the uncanny valley effect.

However, Gao Gong wasn’t here to write a civilizational survey report.

He was here to capture Bionic A.

According to the small window display, Bionic A was spotted in this hospital ten minutes ago.

And from Divine Knowledge, Gao Gong could confirm the presence.

The number of memory worms inside the bionics here was ten times that of normal beings.

Now, as he opened the small window, it turned into a garbled mess.

Someone was deliberately concealing Bionic A’s traces.

Not many could achieve this, but among them, the top three Destruction Forms, Gao Gong quickly identified the mastermind.

War.

”Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, War, Pestilence, Famine, Death, have you found those last two?”

Gao Gong murmured to himself.

He is preparing for the Cyber Tide.

The other party is also making such preparations.

Obviously, the War does not want Gao Gong to ruin its calculations.

But who cares about you!

As Gao Gong’s Destruction aura infused into the Purple String Space, the once-blurry mirror became clearer and clearer. In terms of controlling the ’Relic Authority’, Gao Gong, who had become the ’Box’, was no weaker than the top three, and might even be stronger.

Although he still couldn’t lock onto the real IP, he could vaguely see a figure.

The Bionic Man continued to spread the ’plague’ as it had done in the Hospital.

”I was wondering why the Bionic Revolution was so strong; turns out it was your doing.”

Gao Gong murmured to himself. In this case, I can’t let you continue like this. If you keep this up, what if one day you really push Sister Rose to the guillotine, who will I turn to then?

However, just as Gao Gong was about to continue, Gao Yuanyuan’s voice suddenly sounded in his mind.

”Brother, there’s a special invitation.”

”No time.”

”But he says he is Aramaki.”

”Huh?”

...

If it was just Aramaki, it probably wouldn’t change Gao Gong’s will.

But if this Aramaki could be ’No. 6’, then Gao Gong had to pay attention.

Among the thirteen Destruction Forms, No.1 Deep Net, No.2 War, No.3 Turing, No.4 Destiny Weaving Machine, No.5 Purple Energy Strings, No.7 Soul Armor, No.8 Destructive Intelligence, No.9 Mutant Ecosystem, No.10 Nanobiology, No.11 Metabolism Queen, No.12 Reverse Bionics, No.13 Rewind System.

Only No. 6 is currently the most mysterious and the only one who hasn’t shown up.

The only clue is a task item that Gao Gong obtained.

Name: Eco-Membrane

Category: Ecosystem

Quality: ??

Danger Level: ??

Weight: 0

Note: Environment nurtures ecosystem, civilization nourishes ecosystem, humanity protects ecosystem.

The one thing he is certain of is this thing is connected to No. 6.

Moreover, aside from the top three Destruction Forms, Aramaki is the only existence that cannot be glimpsed through the small window.

It’s not that he can’t see him, rather, the environment around him becomes completely black.

...

Soon, following the address in the invitation, Gao Gong instant teleported to an Artificial Botanical Garden.

The sky was an environment simulation, clear and with fresh air, as if the radiation layer on the planet’s outskirts didn’t exist at all.

In this garden, there were flowers and plants from the Civilization Era, and none were mutated. Chrysanthemums, jasmine, osmanthus, plum blossoms, etc., each bloom was specially timed to almost blossom simultaneously in a riot of colors.

Among the fragrant air, several natural persons were pruning branches and leaves.

After Bionic Men replaced most service positions, this Artificial Botanical Garden surprisingly employed only natural persons, who were all very old, mostly in their seventies or eighties. In this era, for data of such ’human age’ to survive is nothing short of a miracle, and more mysteriously, from these people, Gao Gong sensed the aura of Destruction.

”Hello, Mr. Aramaki has been waiting for you for a long time.” An old natural person walked over, trembling, with a kind expression.

”Are you from the Civilization Era?”

”Yes, it was Mr. Aramaki who took us in.”

”Why did he take you in?” Gao Gong asked nonchalantly, not expecting an answer, but the old natural person pondered for a moment and actually replied:

”As I understand it, it’s to preserve seeds of environmental protection.”

”Environmental protection?”

Gao Gong pondered silently.

Although before crossing over, environmental protection was a word overused, in Mechanical Split Star where all species mutated and radiation covered over ninety percent of the planet’s environment, calling for environmental protection seemed quite necessary.

But if No. 6 Destruction Form is really related to the natural environment, then whether this Destruction Form is still alive is questionable.

Not every Destruction Form can grow successfully; some death occurred during their growth process.

Soon, in a small courtyard resembling a Chinese garden, Gao Gong met Aramaki.

Compared to the last meeting, this time Aramaki looked as if he’d aged thirty years: once a bald Mediterranean style, now only a dozen strands of white hair stubbornly held on, his once steel-like spine now hunched deeply, and his face was blotched with age spots.

But oddly, from his body, Gao Gong felt a very strong life force.

Isn’t this guy’s true form a Super AI?

How could he have characteristics of both the living and the dead?

At this moment, Aramaki was facing away from Gao Gong, trimming a bonsai like a Podocarpus tree.

”Long time no see, Minister Gao,” the other party rasped.

Gao Gong mused for a moment, suddenly saying, ”You are not Aramaki, who are you really?”

’Aramaki’ turned around and surveyed Gao Gong with an odd gaze, unexpectedly saying, ”I didn’t think it would be No. 5 to become the Box first; I always thought the best candidates for the Box were those three.”
