Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 325: Chapter 98: Deserted Island

”Is this Fucheng Island? Sure enough, it’s a treacherous place!” Xiao Yu curiously looked around.

Even on a normal inhabited planet, the ocean is dangerous and unpredictable, let alone on this planet that has undergone global nuclear explosions. Under the sea, energy bombs and radiation sources left from the Second War occasionally detonate, causing disasters capable of submerging continents.

On Fucheng Island, rain poured down like bullets falling wildly. Occasionally, a storm would sweep in, lifting hundreds of pounds of stones and trees into the air. Suddenly, a red energy explosion erupts over the sea, shattering everything within a hundred meters.

”No wonder everyone wants to be a city dweller; there’s a reason for it,” Gao Gong remarked as he watched the perilous environment.

”Ah, watch out!!”

Xiao Yu’s eyes widened as she saw a wave rise from the sea, as if guided, rushing madly toward the two of them.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Xiao Yu stood in front of Gao Gong. Her small figure stood firm, the jets on her mechanical body emitted sounds akin to a gun’s explosion.

In the next moment, ’Gun Force’ burst forth, tearing through the wave with violent gusts, simultaneously knocking out the creature within. It landed on the ground, ready to flee, but Gao Gong quickly stomped on its tail, breaking its two tiny feet.

’What kind of creature is this!’

Gao Gong looked disdainfully at the Radiation Beast·Marine Species, which resembled a fusion of a swordfish and a centipede. It was two meters long with at least fifty pairs of small feet, oddly resembling baby feet.

’How blind is nature to create such a bizarre marine, terrestrial, and aerial creature!’

Gao Gong stomped on its head, crushing it.

[You have killed a D-Level Marine Species ’Multi-legged Fish,’ experience +300]

[You have gained the Additional State ’Multi-legged Fish Hatred’]

Multi-legged Fish Hatred: As long as you are in the ocean, attacks from multi-legged fish will not cease. Duration: 1 hour.

’A D-Level Radiation Beast even comes with a negative state?’

In his previous life, Gao Gong never participated in the ’Beast Mechanical Disaster’ plot on Mechanical Split Star.

But he had heard that this ’Planet Plot’ was extremely difficult.

Have you heard of the Beast Tide? In the ’Beast Mechanical Disaster,’ the Beast Tide is as commonplace as eating and drinking; the number of marine life forms is thousands of times that on land. Once they develop the talent to invade the land, it would undoubtedly be a global catastrophe.

What is even more troublesome is, in the ’Beast Mechanical Disaster,’ ’beasts’ refer to Marine Radiation Beasts, while ’mechanical’ refers to those strange biological energy weapons created by the Knight Order.

Thanks to nature’s ’random creation,’ all life on Mechanical Split Star has radiation cells, capable of accumulating energy sources, complemented by these biological energy weapons.

This is one of the few major events that prompted ’Cybertron’ to deploy its entire Mechanical Legion.

’Cybertron’s’ conventional legion includes a total of ten thousand legions.

Thanks to the terrifying overlord tactics of the Mechanical Civilization, it could produce such an extensive number of Mechanical Lives.

”Boss, I feel like this place is kind of dangerous; we should leave,”

Xiao Yu cautiously watched the sea, sensing that danger was approaching, while Gao Gong, upon activating the Radiation Field, immediately realized several groups of B-level Marine Species were lurking beneath the sea.

”Let’s go.”

If lacking experience, provoking a Beast Tide on the sea would be a good way to grind, but clearly, Gao Gong didn’t need it.

Soon, the two arrived at a fishing village.

This fishing village brought Gao Gong back to the Radiation Desert; their appearances were too similar, both pieced together from old metal scraps of the past era. The only difference was that the fishing village had various canvas and fishing nets but no people.

”Boss, what are you doing?”

Having searched around but found nothing, Xiao Yu returned to see Gao Gong playing with ’mud.’

It was a mass resembling mud, silver-gray, like some kind of metallic fluid.

”Do you know what this is?”

Xiao Yu shook her head, bewildered.

”A special material produced under high temperature and pressure.”

Earth Core Soil: A special material from the Earth’s core, formed under the high-temperature and high-pressure environment of the Earth Core by various iron elements, possessing excellent energy conductivity.

Xiao Yu thought of something, her eyes widening in surprise, mouth agape.

”Yes, this should be formed by the fragments of the Earth’s crust. Based on your memory, after the planetary project was destroyed by enemies, the remnants were released with crustal movements, combining with continental fragments to form Fucheng Island.”

Gao Gong looked up at the sky drizzling with light rain, frowning.

”But why is there no one here?”

Fucheng Island is the largest island near the Guanzhong Plate, and all members of the Welfare Gang are former island residents. Even if not in the tens of thousands, there should be at least hundreds of thousands of people on the island.

However, as Gao Gong and Xiao Yu walked along the coast, passing through several fishing villages, they didn’t see a single soul.

”Interesting.”

Gao Gong came to the island not just to trace past clues but also to lay low for a while. The Deep Net couldn’t discover his true identity, but what if they pulled some tricks like large-scale prosthetic body detection? The advanced mechanical body he bore could easily be exposed.

After some consideration, Gao Gong decided to first go to Fucheng Island and recover the remaining ’Mechanical Scrolls.’

But this strange phenomenon of the island being devoid of people intrigued Gao Gong.

Especially when he found that the island’s center, the only Relic City, was also empty; Gao Gong knew that there was something wrong with this island.

”Master, I’ve detected a very special signal,” little A’s voice suddenly sounded.

The artificial intelligence Little A’s underlying framework was implanted by Gao Gong into his Brain Disc, equivalent to a personal secretary.

”So, the problem doesn’t lie in reality but in the network?” Gao Gong mused, ”The island’s signal isn’t very good.”

Where there are people, there are neural signals, and even without people, there are neural signals due to the terrifying number of Sea Beasts beneath the sea; surfing the internet from the sea is not a good choice.

A ’beep beep’ sound suddenly echoed.

[Mission: Uninhabited Fucheng Island]

Difficulty: Difficult+

Mission Brief: The islanders of Fucheng Island have suddenly disappeared, be it in the real or virtual realm, possibly related to the deceased Gao Jin.

Mission Objective: Uncover the secret of Fucheng Island,

Mission Rewards: Experience +20000, Fucheng Island Specialty, ’Biomimetic Origin’ mission fragment *1

’Biomimetic Origin’ fragment?

Isn’t this mission network supposed to be related only to Bionic Men? How come it involves here too?

Xiao Yu, special program, Earth Crust Engine, Bionic Man, and the mysteriously disappeared islanders, none seemed to connect together.
