Reality overload

As we walked into the now game room. We saw the pods for the fist time. They were pretty massive taking up most of the free space in the room with just enough left to be able to walk in between them.

“Whoa that’s some futuristic looking gaming equipment.” My jaw hanging open at the sight.

sitting in the room were two black pods the tops open like the cockpit of some fighter jet. Inside there was a chair… well it couldn’t really be described as a chair more like a sleek recliner with a dip where the head would be. The whole thing made out of a cool soft material for breath ability, and comfort. As I ran my hand across the fabric of the chair soft yellow lights lit the interior of the pod. Clicking and whirring noises the machine coming to life at the smallest touch.

”WOW…this is fancy I didn’t expect it to be this nice.”I mused completely satisfied with my purchase.

“Pretty cool huh sis.” I asked.

“Uhh… yeah they looks really well made.” Responding absentmindedly.

“BING”

“Ah hang on I got a text.” Pulling my phone out checking. “Looks like we’re late to the party Lucas, Riley, and Nate have already logged on.” he left me a voice text.

“Hey bro, we’re on waiting in the starter area hurry the hell up we wanna party up when you get in, but if I know you l. You’ll nitpick you’re Avatars appearance for and hour… Anyways we’re here waiting.” His voice ceased playing from my phone.

I sent in a message back.

(hey just cause I take pride in my appearance unlike a certain asshat doesn’t mean anything. We had issues with the delivery. Thus the late arrival. Sit tight I’ll be in a little bit.)

hurrying over to Charlie I explained to her the process of using the machine

“Ok, check it out char all you have to do is lay down in the recliner and relax. There are handles along the side of the lid here, and here.” Here eyes attentively following my pointing and gesticulating.

”And here is the hatch release in case you need out in a hurry. It will I open the top up for you.” Showing her how to use the release.

”Also when the lids closed the inside should be temperature controlled so no messy, sweaty ick when you wake up.”

“What you think got a handle on it, it’s pretty easy just close the lid go to sleep and play the game.”

“Yea kid get outta here.” she said pushing me away by the face.

“Alright.” I clapped my hands together. “Lucas said the would wait for us in the starter village I’ll meet you there~~~.” as I hoped into my pod and closed the lid in a rush of motion. Leaving Charlie alone in the room ʅ（◞‿◟）ʃ

I lay down in the recliner getting comfortable as the pod loaded up.

The mechanical voice filling the silent space. Making me jump I’m shock at the suddenness of the voice.

[Registration complete, would you like to play Divine Law Online?]

Ehhh… Yes?

As I said the words I started to feel a little light headed almost immediately like floating. Didn’t even remember when I closed my eyes. Yet here I was floating in a white void. As I came to my senses. I began to look around noticing that I was standing on my feet in the void.

I turned around and got the shock of my life the whole space glitched HUH!?!?for a second a flash of a scene to quick to see any detail but looked like a city but like a modern city and it was burning!?!?!

“What the hell was that!!”

As fast as it arrived it was gone.

“Welcome to Divine Law Online!”

“AHHHHHHHH!!!!” ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´Д｀ﾟ)ﾟ｡

Spinning back around there was a person behind me. No more like an angel?… What’s with all the damn jump scares. I thought to myself wiping cold sweat from the back of my neck.

”I am Nel I will be your guide for character creation. First I will ask that you look over your registration to check for accuracy. Once accepted it cannot be changed in the future.”

As she said that a system interface popped up in my face.

Impatiently hitting the yes button wanting to get to creating my avatar.

”Wait that bastard Lucas was saying I would take forever! Huh I’ll show his ass. I’ll just go with the default looks. As for the race and class I’ll run an elf warrior mage . Aaaaaand done. “

I didn’t even bother looking at anything just Accept accept accept. with nod of acceptance the angel lady… No now getting a closer look. The beautiful angel lady gave a nod of satisfaction at my completion.

“It seems that everything is in order miss Kris please enjoy you’re new life in DLO!”

“What miss?!” Looking bewildered at the address dread starting to creep into my thoughts as everything flashed white. And my vision faded to black.

Opening my eyes, I found myself sitting under the shade of a large tree. Hearing the sounds of birdsong, and the rustle of leaves as the dappled sunlight shown through the canopy making everything around me look like it was bathed in ethereal light.

My vision adjusting as things came into focus. Looking around I was in a town square the bustle of people goin to and fro, the clop clop of a horse drawn carriage sounding as to rattled past. A group of children laughing as the rad around chasing each other. Then the breeze hit me the cool wash of it blowing past feeling very comfortable

I slowly stood as I took in all of the new sights the sounds, and the feel of everything around my

I started to walk forward to get a closer look at my surroundings, only making it a few steps as I noticed a heaviness pulling on my chest

I was startled as I looked down, and instead of seeing my feet I was greeted with the sight of two peaches in the way!

“EH?!…….Σ(-᷅_-᷄๑) Huh!!! Why is there…!!! Wait w- why does my voice sound like!?!?”

Realizing that something was very very wrong I started to really look at myself. My now long flaming red hair obscuring my vision as I looked as best I could. When it really started to sink in my brain short circuited.

“W-whaaaaat is going oooooooon?!?!?!

Immediately I opened my system interface and scrolling to the character page I lost it. Staring back at me like some sort of cruel joke was a very healthy looking elf with flaming red hair down to the middle of her back, And bright green eyes looking back at me with and aloof expression long pointed ears that came to a sharp point at the tips. A row of earrings on the bottom edge of both ears. Her slim figure was clad in a forest green dress with a leather belt around her narrow waist a sword sheathed on one side and a wand in a holstered on the other black leather boots finishing of the ensemble.

Looking at the account seeing the giant F under gender. I became light headed and fell over on my butt. My brain refusing to process what I was seeing I felt my cheeks burn red all the way up to my ears. Thinking back to the way I breezed through the beginning realizing that I had done this to myself. That I was to blame for my current predicament.

“OH SHIT….. WHATDIDIDOOOOOOOOOOO?!?!?!”

“What am I going to do? I can’t let the others see me like this!!! It will be social death.”

Panicking about what to do, I opened my menu trying to figure out how to fix this situation. I scrolled to the account page and brought up my information.

“Wait where’s the edit butting?… I clicked on the gender section only to me met with a buzzing noise and a red exclamation popped up in my vision

“What kind of dog crap is this!!! Can’t be changed my foot!!!!”

Losing my temper I punched the tree trunk not thinking. A number popped above my head flashing red.

-5“OWOWOWWWW… THAT HUUURTS!!! I yelled getting weird looks from the people now staring at me as I held my now bruised hand. Tears of pain at the corners of my eyes. My cheeks flushing in embarrassment as I started to walk away from my wooden mortal enemy.

“Ahhh what the hell am I supposed to do now. I can’t change the settings, and I’m stuck like this!? From what I read on the forums I can’t even make a new account!”

At that moment I heard my name being called from behind me.

“Kris you here?…”

I reflexively turned to answer, and was met with another elf staring back at me her looks familiar. She had blond hair with very blue eyes and she was dressed in a white robe with gold trim a large necklace around her neck holding a cross. Definitely healer class. In her hands she held a scepter with a bright green jewel at the tip.

“Hey Charlie…..Ah!?”

CRAP I ANSWERED WITHOUT THINKING.

I screamed in my head starting to panic all over again. Charlie staring back at me a look of utter shock. Waving back sheepishly. My face red enough to start bleeding. Staring at the ground not knowing how to handle this situation.

”Huh, What w-wait a minute!!!! KRISSSSS!!!!
