My Talent Skill Mutated

Staring at the interface, Chen Yu was stunned.

After Perfection, it reached Ultimate.

’After Ultimate... is there something even higher?’

The upgrade to Ultimate required a staggering three hundred million Source of Life.

The number was so large his heart could barely take it.

Three hundred million Source of Life.

’Just... just how many alien beasts would he have to kill for that?’

Chen Yu sank into thought.

’I thought the Perfection Level was the limit. But now... this is beyond anything I could have imagined.’

’Different Skills must have different caps... Yeah, that has to be it.’

It didn’t take long for Chen Yu to figure it out.

’Anyone who’s played a video game knows that not all skill upgrades are equal.’

’Skills of different tiers have completely different caps.’

Realizing this, Chen Yu felt a sense of relief.

Still, the three hundred million Source of Life was a daunting figure.

’And the Skill hasn’t even been Awakened yet.’

’If it does Awaken, how much Source of Life will it take to level it up again?’

Looking at his other Skills on the interface, Chen Yu figured they would probably also need to break through to the Ultimate Level after reaching Perfection.

As for whether Ultimate was the true limit, there was no way to know.

’No need to rush. There are plenty of Alien Races and alien beasts to go around. It’ll be enough.’

With his thoughts settled, Chen Yu stood up.

The orb of Divine Speed Power flared, and he felt an unprecedented sense of weightlessness.

”Sophie, record my speed,” Chen Yu said.

”Yes, Master.”

BZZT—

The words had barely left her mouth when, with a flash of lightning, Chen Yu vanished.

A bolt of lightning could be faintly seen circling the massive mountain.

A moment later, Chen Yu was back where he started.

He had lapped the entire mountain in the blink of an eye.

”What was it?” Chen Yu asked.

”Master, your speed was Mach 1,000,” Sophie’s voice replied.

”Come again?”

Chen Yu’s eyes lit up.

”Mach 1,000!” Sophie repeated.

’Mach 1,000...’ A grin spread across Chen Yu’s face.

That’s one thousand times the speed of sound!

’What about the next upgrade?’

’Ten thousand times? Or would I reach the Light Speed Level?!’

Chen Yu’s heart pounded with excitement.

The Light Speed Level... That was a speed only those who had cultivated to the True God Level could achieve.

’And a True God Venerable... what kind of being was that?’

They could traverse the Starry Cosmos.

They possessed the power to destroy entire worlds.

Only with a True God Level being watching over it could a race establish a foothold in the cosmos.

They were what you called truly powerful!

A being who reached the True God Level had the power to command respect and instill fear across entire regions of space.

Any race without a True God was under constant threat of annihilation.

The Human Race itself had been brought to the brink of extinction several times.

The only reason they could still hold their ground in the cosmos was because a True God Venerable had emerged from their ranks.

A True God could destroy a world. Therefore, even the most powerful civilizations in the cosmos wouldn’t dare to act rashly unless they possessed the strength to utterly destroy a True God.

Otherwise, it was a simple matter of mutually assured destruction: ’You destroy my world, and I’ll destroy yours.’

This was the infamous ”base trade” tactic!

Destroying an enemy world automatically triggered a True God’s dead man’s switch, a pact to share the same fate as heaven and earth!

Let’s all die together!

A civilization might be powerful, but that doesn’t mean every single one of its people is.

Although the Ancestor Star had been invaded by Alien Races, they didn’t dare deploy a True God to destroy it. If they did, the Human Race’s True God would, in turn, randomly destroy one of their enemies’ homeworlds.

Unless they had the power to utterly crush a True God!

This was why True Gods were the supreme beings of their worlds.

The gap between a ninth-level being and a True God was likely greater than the gap between the first and ninth levels combined.

’If I can reach the Light Speed Level, I’ll at least have a chance to escape from a True God.’

Chen Yu’s eyes glinted.

But for now, reaching the Light Speed Level was still a distant dream.

Still, at a speed of Mach 1,000, even a Ninth-level Martial Artist would likely be outclassed.

Chen Yu didn’t know if a Ninth-level Martial Artist could catch him, but he was certain no eighth-level Martial Artist could keep up.

That is, of course, excluding other Awakened who possessed similar abilities.

After all, the power of an Awakened couldn’t be measured by conventional standards.

When an average Awakened’s ability undergoes Evolution, their power increases exponentially.

’His own Skill upgrades are a form of Evolution, too.’

...

Time passed as quickly as a moment of fleeting pleasure.

In the Lola Mountain Anomaly, the final competition had reached its last countdown.

No one could challenge Chen Yu’s throne as the number one point-holder. Even though his score hadn’t changed in a long time, he still held a crushing, insurmountable lead.

Within the Anomaly Realm, Chen Yu’s figure appeared in the ruins of a city from a fallen civilization.

After dispatching a level-four alien beast, Chen Yu entered an abandoned laboratory.

A thick layer of dust covered everything; it was impossible to tell how many years had passed.

Chen Yu scanned the area before walking to a heavy metal door in the back of the lab.

The metal door was sealed shut. With a single hand, Chen Yu wrenched the heavy door open.

Inside was another dust-covered room. In one corner lay a nest of dried weeds, upon which sat several giant eggs, each half the size of a man.

With a clench of his hand, the alien beast eggs were crushed into dust from a distance. He scanned the room again, then walked over to a desk.

On the desk, a dust-covered journal caught his eye.

Chen Yu picked up the journal and blew, sending the thick layer of dust scattering. He then opened it.

”Today is July 15, 2038. It’s 9:40 in the morning.”

”War has broken out. Monsters are destroying the city. Father just died in battle, and I’m injured too.”

”This is the secret laboratory Father left behind. I’m here, recovering from my injuries.”

”July 16, 10:49 AM. I heard on the radio that many cities have fallen. Those powerful alien monsters are destroying the world.”
