My Talent Skill Mutated

”Stop... stop... I surrender!”

The blond youth’s face was filled with terror as he immediately begged for mercy. If this continued, his Steel Body would be crushed to pieces.

A Steel Body wasn’t an immortal one.

The fear of death shattered his arrogant demeanor.

”THUD!”

Controlling the Force Field, Chen Yu slammed the blond youth hard onto the ground with a dull thud, knocking him unconscious.

His Steel Body Superpower vanished instantly.

”Excellent! Hahahaha!!!”

In the VIP seats for the Twelve Institutes, a brilliant smile spread across Director Xu’s face.

He was extremely pleased with Chen Yu’s performance.

In contrast, the faces of the representatives from the European and American academies darkened.

Meanwhile, the representatives from Capital City Academy and Shanghai Academy were also smiling.

The Superpower Academies had their own little cliques.

Different regions had their own circles. On the surface, the Twelve Institutes were all the same, but the reality was different.

As fellow Superpower Academies from the East Asian Region, they naturally preferred to see an East Asian student win.

It was a matter of winning honor for their region!

...

”Brother Yu, that was amazing!”

Baili Qing gave Chen Yu a thumbs-up.

Chen Yu didn’t say anything. The preliminaries were no challenge for him. In both fights, his opponents were hardly strong enough to make him use a second Skill.

He felt that these so-called Elite Students were somewhat underwhelming. ’Of course, maybe it’s just that the Heterodox Sect opponents I faced on previous missions were too monstrous.’

They were often Level 6 or even Level 7.

Now, facing these level-three or four Awakened, their abilities were truly not up to par. He felt that even An Ran was stronger than these opponents.

---

Night fell.

The preliminaries came to a close.

One hundred and twenty students successfully advanced.

From Jingzhou Superpower Academy, only ten students, including Chen Yu, advanced to the semifinals.

A total of twenty-seven were eliminated.

And this elimination ratio was actually considered quite good.

Some regional academies had fared even worse.

Of the four major regions, the East Asian Region had thirty-six students advance.

Shanghai Academy and Capital City Academy both had slightly more advancing students than Jingzhou Academy.

Advancing to the semifinals was basically a reflection of an academy’s training capabilities.

They had all sent their elites.

To win in a clash of the Elite Level was to be the elite of the elite.

Back at the villa area, despite twenty-seven students being defeated, Director Xu was still very happy.

As long as the results were better than last time, it was fine. In the previous competition, Jingzhou Superpower Academy had only had six students advance to the semifinals, putting them at the very bottom.

Their last remaining student had barely made it to the finals, only to finish last among the twelve.

”The semifinals are tomorrow. I hope you can all maintain your momentum.”

The ten students nodded.

After speaking, Director Xu turned to Chen Yu, his expression serious. ”Chen Yu, you have the highest chance of making it to the finals, but you can’t get careless. Understand?”

Chen Yu nodded. ”Don’t worry, Director. I understand.”

Director Xu smiled slightly and said no more. He waved his hand, and the group dismissed.

Returning to his villa, Chen Yu took a shower, then lay on his bed, closing his eyes to enjoy a massage from Sophie.

「The night passed quickly.」

At the tournament venue, the second day’s semifinals began.

The atmosphere was even more electric than yesterday.

In the semifinals, one hundred and twenty contestants would fight until only the final twelve remained for the finals.

It would also be a head-to-head clash between the Twelve Institutes.

And compared to the rules of the preliminaries, the semifinal rules offered only two chances!

Two losses, and you were completely eliminated!

When you fought, you had to go all out. With few exceptions, it was rare for anyone to win on their second chance.

A bell rang, announcing the official start of the semifinals.

The system selected the numbers, and six appeared.

Chen Yu looked at the numbers, then glanced at Baili Qing beside him. ”Do your best.”

Baili Qing nodded, took a deep breath, and stepped onto the high platform.

The semifinal battles were all between A-rank Awakened; some students even possessed multiple A-rank abilities.

The difficulty of the fights was several times greater than yesterday.

The first match began. Chen Yu watched Baili Qing’s fight quietly.

Every battle in the semifinals was extremely perilous.

However, clashes between seeded contestants were rare; those usually only happened in the finals. Of course, you couldn’t rule out the occasional surprise.

The system’s selection was completely random.

Looking at the battle screen, Baili Qing’s opponent this time was a student from the European and American region—from Golden Eagle Academy, the academy with the most winners from that region.

Their strength was formidable.

”Brother Yu, do you think Baili Qing can win?” a male student beside him asked in a low voice, watching the screen.

”I’m afraid it will be difficult. It seems this student also has a Spiritual Element ability,” Chen Yu said.

The male student nodded and asked no more questions, turning his attention back to the fight.

...

”CRASH!!!”

In the middle of the desert arena, as dust billowed into the air, a figure slowly collapsed. Baili Qing was panting heavily, sweat dripping from his forehead.

After a battle of over a hundred moves, he had finally seized a slim opportunity to barely clinch the victory.

”He won!”

Seeing Baili Qing win, a brilliant smile appeared on the faces of the Jingzhou Academy representatives.

”He did it! Awesome!”

The male student’s face was flushed with excitement as he watched Baili Qing’s victory.

Chen Yu nodded. ’He seized his chance. Not bad.’

A narrow victory!

If things had gone just a hair differently, Baili Qing might have been the one to lose.

Fortunately, Baili Qing had grabbed that sliver of an opportunity.

”Cough, cough...”

Back in his seat, Baili Qing coughed, his face a little pale.

”Eat this. It’ll help you recover.” Chen Yu took out a Spirit Pearl and handed it to Baili Qing.

”Thanks, Brother Yu.” Baili Qing nodded, swallowed the Spirit Pearl immediately, and a touch of color returned to his pale face.
