My Talent Skill Mutated

They proceeded with caution to the entrance of Mist Canyon. Staring into the dense fog, they couldn’t shake a bad feeling.

”Lei, why do I feel a chill running down my spine?” the male student asked in a low voice, his eyes fixed on Mist Canyon.

The female student looked completely unfazed. ”Tom, you’re getting more and more cowardly. This place might be teeming with mutant beasts, but for people with our power, they’re just a piece of cake.”

The male student’s expression grew serious. ”Lei, it’s not that I’m a coward. My intuition is just telling me that something bad is about to happen.”

”Tch. You’re just a coward,” the female student scoffed, curling her lip in disdain.

”SCREEE—!”

But at that very moment, a strange cry echoed from within Mist Canyon. A giant mantis abruptly materialized out of the deep fog.

The five-meter-tall mantis’s forelimbs, like the scythes of the Death God, slashed through the air as it charged straight for the pair.

”Watch out!”

Startled, the male student immediately fell back.

”Pathetic!”

The female student watched the Mutant Mantis charge, and a dark light began to emanate from her body.

”VWOOM—!”

A powerful shockwave erupted, blasting the Mutant Mantis back into the fog and eliciting a pained cry.

”Tom, you should just go back to the academy. This place isn’t for you.” Having sent the mantis flying, the female student sneered at her partner, who stood a short distance away.

The male student’s face turned bright red.

”SCREEE—!”

Just then, the mist churned, and the sound of something slicing through the air rang out once more.

”SHIIING!!!”

Brandishing forelimbs that glowed like the Death God’s scythes, several enormous Mutant Mantises charged out.

There were nine of them in total—all Level Four Mutant Mantises.

”VWOOM!!!”

A dark light condensed between the female student’s palms, releasing a destructive aura.

”HAAH—!”

With a forward thrust of her palms, she blasted out a fist-sized orb of dark light.

”BOOM!!!”

Mist Canyon trembled. The nine Level Four Mutant Mantises were sent flying, smashing against the canyon walls. The impact shattered the rock, cracking their hard carapaces. They were all critically injured in a single move.

She looked back at the male student with pride. ”Tom, what are you just standing there for? Don’t forget this is a ranking match. Our goal is to be champions, and we absolutely can’t let that damned Easterner walk all over us.”

The color returned to the male student’s face. In a flash, he rushed forward. But just as he was about to finish off the critically injured Mutant Mantises, a strange roar echoed through Mist Canyon.

Two mantises, each over ten meters tall, appeared.

Their black bodies, faintly glowing, made them look like monsters that had stepped right out of Hell.

Level Five Mutant Mantises!

”WHOOSH—!”

Its massive body moved like lightning, vanishing and reappearing in an instant right in front of the male student.

”KREEE—!”

With a sharp cry, a phantom resembling a phoenix appeared behind the male student as layers of flame erupted around him.

In that instant, the male student’s entire demeanor changed.

”THUD!”

A dull thud echoed as the Level Five Mutant Mantis was sent flying over a hundred meters.

The male student immediately attacked again. Flames surged around him and golden light erupted, unleashing a wave of energy that violently blasted the Level Five Mutant Mantis into the air.

”BANG!!”

Both Mutant Mantises were sent flying, kicking up a cloud of dust.

”Tom, that was brilliant! Finish them off, and our points will surpass that Easterner’s.”

The female student shouted, taking the lead and charging toward one of the Level Five Mutant Mantises.

The male student followed right behind, charging at the other Mutant Mantis.

’That’s about it. They’ve all been lured out.’

Perched on the cliff wall, Chen Yu had been enjoying the show. Sensing no more Life Fluctuations from deeper in the canyon, he decided to make his move.

”BOOM!!!”

The female student had just closed in on the Mutant Mantis and was about to unleash her Superpower when a figure suddenly descended from the sky, slamming a fist into the Level Five beast.

Before such absolute power, its tough exoskeleton seemed utterly fragile, and was instantly obliterated.

It was completely annihilated in a single blow.

”Bastard! You fucking Easterner, you’re courting death!”

Stunned for a brief moment, the female student flew into a rage. Someone had just stolen her kill, and right now, she wanted nothing more than to murder the person before her.

Dark light flared as a terrifying aura filled the air.

”Annoying.”

A voice sounded right beside her ear. The word had barely registered when the female student felt a sharp pain blossom in her chest.

”PUH!!”

An overwhelming force invaded her body. She sprayed a mouthful of crimson blood as her body was sent slamming hard against the rock face.

”Lei!”

The male student cried out in alarm when he saw her get hurt.

At the same time, Chen Yu struck again. His Divine Speed Power flared, and the nine critically injured Level Four Mutant Mantises were killed in an instant.

It was effortless!

”Chen Yu!”

”You shameless Easterner! I’ll make you pay!”

The male student now recognized him. With a furious roar, he abandoned his attack on the Level Five Mutant Mantis. The phoenix-like phantom behind him howled as it unleashed a brilliant wave of red light.

”BOOM!!!!”

The canyon walls fractured and the very ground shook from the destructive shockwave.

It was a strike born of pure rage—so terrifyingly powerful that not even a Level Five mutant beast could withstand it.

The Mutant Mantis’s massive body was sent flying, its carapace now covered in cracks.

But at the epicenter of the destruction, a red light flashed. The next second, a streak of lightning shot through the air. The airborne Mutant Mantis was pierced straight through by a single punch, now deader than dead.

”He’s unharmed... How is that possible?!”

The male student was aghast.

”Not a bad Superpower,” a calm voice remarked. ”But still not strong enough.”

In a flash of lightning, Chen Yu’s figure appeared behind the male student.

”Tom, watch out!”

Seeing this, the female student, though still spitting blood, immediately shouted a warning.

The male student subconsciously activated his Superpower, and the phoenix phantom enveloped his body protectively.

”THUD!!!”
