Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1235: Chapter 1235: Born Singer (Part 15)

Pang Kai was a little fatty, sweating on his forehead all the way here.

”Miss Meng, you...” Pang Kai paused when he saw Young Master Liang’s grim face in the room: ”Mr. Liang, why are you here too?”

Young Master Liang never expected Chuzheng to be the investor.

This was more fantastical than a fantasy drama!

Where did she get the money from?

Wasn’t she supposed to be a poor girl!?

If this is poor, what am I then?

Chuzheng skipped the introduction and went straight to the point: ”This Mr. Liang threatened me, saying he would rig the competition no matter what.”

Young Master Liang’s mouth twitched.

When did he ever say that!

Pang Kai’s heart skipped a beat, he swallowed and called over the bewildered man in the room to ask what was going on.

The man looked at Young Master Liang, then at Chuzheng, and without embellishment, recounted the previous events.

Although Young Master Liang invested quite a bit, Chuzheng had already agreed to invest in the second season, and her investment amount was more than Young Master Liang’s.

Pang Kai clearly knew who the boss was in his heart.

Pang Kai looked at Young Master Liang with a serious face: ”Mr. Liang, although you are an investor, you cannot interfere with the normal course of the competition.”

Young Master Liang pointed at himself: ”I...”

Pang Kai maintained a face of righteousness: ”Mr. Liang, what’s needed is fairness and justice in the competition, this is very unfair to the contestants.”

Young Master Liang: ”...”

Damn you, Pang Kai!

Chuzheng folded her arms and watched Young Master Liang leave in a huff, fuming with anger.

Before leaving, he shot Chuzheng a vicious glare: ”Meng Chuzheng, just wait and see!”

Chuzheng retorted swiftly: ”Why?” Just because you tell me to wait, I should? Who the hell do you think you are!

Young Master Liang: ”...”

In Young Master Liang’s limited life, he had made countless threats, but had never encountered such a response.

This time, Young Master Liang was truly smoking with anger.

-

Pang Kai couldn’t officially say someone was rigging things—everyone knew, but as the official he couldn’t say it—so he could only announce it was a statistics error.

There was actually nothing wrong with the numbers, Hua Huai’s votes belonged to the Fireworks group, and Young Master Liang just had someone swap their votes.

After returning to normal, Hua Huai instantly dropped to last place.

”Young Master Liang...”

”You still have the nerve to call me!” Young Master Liang’s voice was ominous: ”Did you know Meng Chuzheng is an investor? Are you screwing with me on purpose?”

Hua Huai was momentarily stunned by the mention of the investor, staying rooted: ”Impossible...”

Young Master Liang’s anger was hard to dispel, the more he thought about it, the angrier he got: ”Impossible? So you think I’m just playing with you?”

With Pang Kai’s attitude so clear, it was obvious her investment was larger.

Young Master Liang wanted to save face, but investing in this was originally an out-of-the-plan move.

He was, after all, just a ”young master,” not a ”boss.”

All his reckless moves were funded by the Liang Family.

”I didn’t mean that...” Hua Huai heard the anger in Young Master Liang’s voice: ”I’ve known her for so long, I know what kind of person she is best, how could she possibly have money to invest?”

There was a hint of danger in Young Master Liang’s tone: ”Are you suggesting someone backed her?”

”...I don’t know, but Young Master Liang, believe me, she definitely doesn’t have that much money.”

Hua Huai knew his former agent inside out.

She couldn’t possibly be that wealthy.

There must be someone behind her.

No wonder she kicked him aside, turns out she found herself a wealthy backer...

Perhaps it was at that party Young Master Liang had, she changed suddenly after returning from it.

The more Hua Huai thought about it, the more he felt his logic was right, and he was filled with rage.

”Young Master Liang, I...”

Doo doo doo—

Young Master Liang hung up the phone.

Hua Huai didn’t even have time to mention the competition, since he sensed Young Master Liang’s anger he dared not call back.

But he was unwilling...

If he placed in the top three of this competition, he’d have resources.

He wanted to become famous.

But now there was only one round left, how could he make a comeback? He didn’t have the money to buy votes for online voting which had a time limit.

Hua Huai’s scattered thoughts plus previous events led him to perform even worse in the second round.

The online voting was limited in time, and even if Hua Huai wanted to buy votes, it was too late, so naturally, he didn’t make the top three.

The Fireworks group didn’t win first, but secured second.

#FireworksGroupBackdoor#

#FireworksMemberBackstage#

These two trending topics suddenly shot up the charts the next day.

Beneath them were many hired trolls downplaying their song as worthless, insisting they got second place due to backdoor dealings.

But within ten minutes, these trending topics were taken down, as if they never existed.

Once Sheng Yan and the other two returned, Chuzheng locked them in the practice room, confiscating their phones, leaving them clueless about the online drama.

Hua Huai tried to stir trouble alone but achieved nothing, so eventually, he had to quieten down.

-

Three months later.

A song suddenly became popular online, the artist was Hua Huai.

When Chuzheng saw the trending topic, she clicked to listen and soon exited.

The lyrics and composition were clearly not Hua Huai’s style; obviously, his agent Fang Jun hired someone to create it, but it was indeed better than what he made himself.

Previously, Hua Huai always thought himself too talented, and that his songs, which he wrote and composed, weren’t popular because people didn’t appreciate them—mainly they were too poor then to hire someone to write songs.

Riding on the popularity, Hua Huai released several songs in succession, and with Fang Jun’s management, he was on the verge of becoming famous.

Chuzheng even discovered a hidden track, yet this particular song utterly flopped.

”Boss, today we should take them for a photo shoot.” Lisa reported to Chuzheng.

”I’ll take them.”

”Okay.”

Chuzheng went to find them in the practice room, where the three sat cross-legged in the center, Sheng Yan scribbling on a piece of paper, looking dissatisfied, eventually crumpling it and throwing it into the corner.

There were plenty of such paper balls scattered on the practice room floor.

”Boss?”

Mu Sheng noticed Chuzheng and called out.

In the past three months, they spent most of their time there, but Chuzheng rarely stopped by, and whenever she did, she’d leave after a glance.

”Get ready, we’re going out to shoot some promotional photos.”

Qu Jiangxiao stretched lazily: ”Finally, we can get some air.”

”Little Yan, let it go.” Mu Sheng, excited, pulled Sheng Yan up: ”Go out and get some fresh air, maybe you’ll find inspiration.”

Sheng Yan glanced at Chuzheng, nodded: ”You guys go first, I’ll tidy up.”

Mu Sheng was familiar with Sheng Yan’s habits and left first with Qu Jiangxiao.

Sheng Yan meant to collect the paper balls from the floor but sensed Chuzheng hadn’t left, perhaps waiting for him.

After a moment’s hesitation, Sheng Yan moved towards the door.

When Sheng Yan approached, Chuzheng reached out to pat his head, then nonchalantly retracted her hand and walked out with her hands in her pockets: ”Keep up.”

Sheng Yan’s fingertips brushed over the spot Chuzheng touched, feeling the warmth still lingering, his emotions stirring.
