Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1201: Chapter 1201: Dark Descent (Part 21)

Received the mission, got the detailed information provided by the officials.

They were to steal... no, rescue a batch of equipment from the neighboring city.

The base is relatively stable now, but it urgently needs all kinds of equipment, so most of the official missions are related to these.

Chuzheng set out after Gu He and his team, but not long after, she saw Gu He’s team.

Chuzheng was trailing behind, and the people on Gu He’s side quickly noticed.

After all, it’s the apocalypse now, and you might not encounter a single person for miles on the road.

The key was that Ji Lin’s car was too distinctive.

”It’s Luo Chuzheng.” Qiu Feng gritted his teeth: ”Why is she following us?”

-

”Xiao Chu, why are we following them?” Jiang Rushuang also asked the same question.

”On the way.”

Jiang Rushuang had just been called over midway, not knowing what had happened before, but she was skeptical of this explanation.

She wanted to say something but decided against it.

Ji Lin was eating snacks in the passenger seat, acting like a young master, fanning with a folding fan leisurely — even though it was all hot air.

Yet, this young master was quite relaxed.

”Wow...”

For some reason, Lele suddenly cried.

Jiang Rushuang’s attention was diverted by Lele, so she didn’t notice Ji Lin and Chuzheng.

”Hey, stoic face, do you want me to drive?” Ji Lin, after eating a lot of snacks, finally asked sensibly.

”Hmm.”

Chuzheng stopped the car, got out immediately without waiting for Ji Lin to change his mind, walked to the passenger seat, and opened the door.

A series of actions were fluid and quick.

Ji Lin almost choked on his snack, but after a moment of silence, he directly moved over from the passenger seat.

Ji Lin’s driving was quite wild, and the speed increased significantly.

Gu He and his group probably thought Ji Lin wanted to collide, scrambling to avoid him, but Ji Lin just overtook them and drove on ahead.

Chuzheng didn’t react much, playing with Ji Lin’s fan.

The car kept going for an unspecified time when Ji Lin’s speed suddenly slowed down, and Chuzheng opened her eyes, glancing at him first.

Ji Lin slightly squinted his eyes, looking ahead, and the speed decreased further.

Chuzheng looked forward and saw a group of survivors slowly approaching on the highway not far away.

This group of survivors was quite large, roughly over a hundred people, almost completely blocking the road.

These people had no vehicles, not sure where they came from.

Gu He’s car appeared in the rearview mirror, and Chuzheng suddenly spoke, ”Retreat.”

Ji Lin raised the corner of his mouth, as if finding an ally: ”Stoic face, you also think we shouldn’t go over now?”

With so many people, just one car — who knows what starving survivors might do?

Chuzheng’s tone was indifferent: ”I just find it troublesome.”

”What a coincidence, I find it troublesome too.”

Ji Lin immediately reversed the car, and Gu He’s car instantly overtook them, then their car slammed to a stop.

The survivors over there, upon seeing a car, seemed filled with energy like people in the desert spotting an oasis, running towards them.

”What do we do now?” Ji Lin tapped his fingers on the steering wheel.

”Wait.”

Gu He’s side didn’t have many people either, and suddenly being swarmed by all these survivors, their car was quickly surrounded.

Some even tried to run over to their side, but Ji Lin drove back a bit, and those people couldn’t catch up, choosing to return.

In the end, someone in Gu He’s team exhibited strong special abilities to barely control the situation.

Unexpectedly, the survivors pretended to be submissive, and when someone from their team got out, one of the survivors seized the moment and stabbed that special ability user.

Gu He and his group didn’t anticipate this turn of events, and the team quickly fell into chaos.

Ji Lin took advantage of their brawl to drive past them.

-

City Y had a considerable population, and as soon as Chuzheng and her team entered, they encountered zombies — quite a lot of them too.

Ji Lin shot out a few ice blades, accurately piercing into the zombies’ heads, making them fall to the ground with a crack.

The Ice Series abilities have quite a bit of destructive power, with Chuzheng driving, Ji Lin could handle the zombies alone.

”We’ve lost them.” Jiang Rushuang checked the rear and reported to Chuzheng: ”These zombies seem to run faster than the ones we’ve seen before.”

”They’ve evolved.” Ji Lin said: ”If human special ability users can evolve, zombies probably can too. After all, zombie crystal cores are dug out from zombies’ brains, aren’t they?”

That should be the power manifesting after zombies started evolving.

Jiang Rushuang hesitated: ”If zombies get more powerful in the future, how are we supposed to survive?”

Ji Lin didn’t answer her question and instead looked at Chuzheng.

”Stoic face, do you think there might be such crystal cores in our brains?”

”Do you want to know?” Chuzheng asked without looking sideways.

Ji Lin said indifferently: ”I do.”

”I...”

[Miss, if you dare to say it, I’ll immediately give you a mission!]

Chuzheng suppressed her lips and said earnestly: ”I’ll catch a special ability user and dissect them for you to see.”

[...] King’s Account covered its face, consoling itself that it was at least better than her previous thought of ’digging open your head to see.’

”...”

Ji Lin’s eye twitched.

Did she just say catch what?

A special ability user?

The tone was as if catching a zombie...

Ji Lin didn’t dare continue speaking with Chuzheng, thinking she was just saying it casually. Unexpectedly, not long after entering the city, when they were resting, Chuzheng dragged someone back... technically, it was a corpse.

The person was already dead.

Didn’t seem to be killed by zombies, though.

Ji Lin almost fell off the off-road vehicle: ”Did you kill him?”

Chuzheng stood under the car, looking up, her delicate face solemn: ”I didn’t, I didn’t kill him.”

She wasn’t so heartless as to actually kill an innocent person.

She is a good person.

Ji Lin heaved a sigh of relief.

”Then how did this person die?”

”I don’t know, I found him.” Chuzheng seemed eager: ”He’s a special ability user.”

Ji Lin quickly jumped down to stop her: ”Hey, stoic face, I was just saying things, you can’t just dissect people casually.”

”He’s dead.”

”Even dead people deserve respect.” Ji Lin never thought he’d be saying something like this; usually, such words were said to him.

”...”

Weren’t you the one who wanted to know?!

Why is the Good Person Card so fickle?!

Ji Lin said: ”Put him back where you found him.”

Chuzheng didn’t plan to return the body. She leaned against the car door, Ji Lin’s arm happening to rest there, making her almost lean into Ji Lin’s embrace.

Ji Lin stiffened, wanting to pull back his hand, but that would make his reaction too exaggerated, like a guilty conscience.

”How did you find him?”

”On that street.” Chuzheng replied with her head down: ”Maybe it was a double-cross.”

There wasn’t just one corpse there, but several.

But she only felt the lingering special ability on this body, so she dragged him back.
