Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1232: Chapter 1232: Born Singer (Part 12)

Sheng Yan, like Qu Jiangxiao, uses his real name, and his profile picture is of a guitar, a bit like the one he’s holding.

According to Mu Sheng, that was the first guitar Sheng Yan bought.

After arriving at the studio, they all use the studio’s gear, but Sheng Yan still carries his around every day.

Chuzheng sent a message to Lisa asking her to get them verified.

After sending the message, she happened to see a new post from Hua Huai.

She suddenly remembered that Hua Huai was still on her following list, so she immediately unfollowed and blocked him.

The original owner had followed quite a few people, and Chuzheng cleared them all out. The once bustling following list was instantly reduced to just three people.

-

The show was scheduled to air on Saturday night. By the time it officially aired, they had already finished recording the third episode.

There were too many people in the first episode, so everyone could only remember those who stood out—either because they sang well or because they were handsome.

As the lead singer and the face of the group, Sheng Yan successfully captured the fans’ attention, along with Mu Sheng, who was surprisingly married.

[This guy is actually married! And has a kid! You don’t see such honest kids often!]

[Maybe he forgot to delete it...]

[This Sheng Yan guy is so handsome!!]

[Are they newcomers?]

[They sound great... but a bit unstable. Is it nerves? Plus, it seems like they’re singing an original song. I’ve never heard it before, but it’s quite nice...]

[I need all the info on this guy in one minute!]

[That Hua Huai just now was quite handsome too, but I feel like he didn’t sing as well as this guy.]

[It seems like all the participants this time are quite strong!]

With the airing of the next episode, the fan bases of Sheng Yan and the three of them quickly surpassed a million.

At this point, Chuzheng released a single for them and asked them to share it.

The song was one of Sheng Yan’s compositions that Lisa had them record in the studio last time.

But there hadn’t been any follow-up, so they didn’t expect to hear it again, let alone see it released online.

Sheng Yan, seeing the list of names in the post-production credits, felt a little short of breath.

”Sheng Yan, did you see? Jing Da composed for us!!”

”I saw... don’t strangle me.” Sheng Yan felt a little short of breath before, now he was definitely short of breath.

Not only the composition, but many of the people listed after were big names in the industry.

People they once never even dared to imagine working with...

Clearly, this caught the attention of the internet too.

[Damn! What kind of backing does this band have?]

[Jing Da composed for them. Didn’t he say he was retiring?]

[Retirement! Peace!]

[The interpretation above cracked me up.]

[The song isn’t that great... Why would Jing Da compose for them? And the other big names too, what’s the deal with this Fireworks?]

[I think it sounds pretty good.]

[Can a big name in the know explain this band’s backing?]

The song received mixed reviews. Different listeners had different tastes, so it was up to individual preference.

Those who liked it thought it was good, those who didn’t thought it was bad.

But more people were gossiping about their backing, and how Mu Sheng, despite being a married man, was still playing in a band.

Mu ”Married Man” Sheng: ”...” Why can’t a married man be in a band! That’s discrimination!

The masses dug around, only seeing their verified band name without affiliation to any company.

The internet was in an uproar, but things were calm on Chuzheng’s end: ”You don’t need to worry too much about the competition. You don’t need the exposure from this stage; I let you participate to get familiar with the stage.”

Mu Sheng raised his hand: ”Boss, I just want to ask about the song...”

”Your production team will only keep getting better in the future, so rather than gossip, use your time to practice more so you don’t embarrass me.”

The trio: ”...”

So in their boss’s eyes, their production team is just entry-level?

”Xiao Yan, how did you end up finding a boss like this?” Is she just burning money for fun?

”...”

Sheng Yan picked up his guitar and headed to the practice room: ”Let’s practice.”

-

For the rest of the recordings, Chuzheng accompanied them because there were only twelve episodes in total, making the schedule quite tight.

No one knows how Hua Huai made it this far, and every time he saw Chuzheng, he ignored her with a cold expression.

Today was effectively the semifinals, Sheng Yan and the others were preparing, when Chuzheng received a call mid-way, and when she came back, chaos was breaking out backstage.

Sheng Yan stood in the corner clutching his guitar, with many people’s eyes on them.

Chuzheng frowned slightly and quickly walked over: ”What happened?”

Mu Sheng had an unpleasant look and whispered: ”Just now during the performance, Xiao Yan’s guitar suddenly broke...”

”Broke?”

The guitar wasn’t Sheng Yan’s own, it was the studio’s, but Sheng Yan had always been careful with guitars, even if they weren’t his own, they shouldn’t be damaged.

Sheng Yan had already inspected it and confirmed it was intentional sabotage.

”Did anyone touch it?”

”With so many people backstage...” Qu Jiangxiao shook his head: ”We’re not sure either.”

The guitar was theirs, so having a mishap like this meant no one from the organizers came to communicate with them.

Sheng Yan hung his head, his expression unreadable, as Chuzheng reached up to touch his head: ”It’s okay, you guys take him out first.”

The last part was addressed to Mu Sheng and Qu Jiangxiao.

-

Chuzheng first found the organizers to discuss a resolution.

Performance mishaps can happen to anyone, and Chuzheng negotiated for them to go back on stage later. The edits could be managed in post-production so it wouldn’t have a big impact.

Chuzheng found them outside.

Chuzheng handed over a borrowed guitar: ”Use this guitar for now, you’ll go back on stage soon.”

The young man silently took the guitar, while Chuzheng couldn’t quite read Sheng Yan’s state, so she glanced at Mu Sheng and Qu Jiangxiao to wordlessly ask them what was going on.

The two shrugged, showing they weren’t too worried, Mu Sheng quietly said: ”He’ll adjust on his own in a bit.”

Having such a big issue happen on stage, Sheng Yan’s mood would definitely be affected, and at this time, it all depended on his self-adjustment.

Qu Jiangxiao took a couple of steps towards Chuzheng: ”Boss, someone’s targeting us.”

Chuzheng nodded to indicate she understood: ”Mm, focus on the competition first.”

When it was their turn to go back on stage, Sheng Yan exhaled, cheering himself up internally, when suddenly something pressed down on his head.

He glanced at her, not avoiding: ”I will do my best!”

”Mm, go ahead.”

The sudden incident definitely affected them, and although they made it to the finals, their ranking wasn’t very high.

After the competition ended, Chuzheng approached the person in charge to request the backstage surveillance footage.

The responsible person dismissed her: ”Can’t you see I’m busy? Don’t get in the way...”

Chuzheng pressed down his shoulder, pushed him onto the chair, and put her foot up with a fierce expression: ”I want to see the backstage footage, now!”

Person in charge: ”...”
