Chapter 533: Chapter 533: Difficult to be a Hostage (28)

Lian Qiong let Chuzheng stay here, not far from the Imperial City, but hidden enough to evade detection. The news came in a timely manner.

The Imperial Guards were searching for her throughout the entire city, and the search had now extended outside the Imperial City.

If she were to go out and be seen by someone, she would surely be reported.

So Chuzheng stayed put.

Mainly because going out and getting chased around was a real hassle.

Since the day he left, Lian Qiong hadn’t appeared again, but Chen Fei showed up every day.

Chuzheng resumed her routine of leisurely drinking tea and basking in the sun like a retiree.

Occasionally, she would have Xiao Shanzi go out and buy some random stuff.

Since it wasn’t practical to buy large items, she could only buy portable things like Hundred-Year Inkstones or Millennium Ginseng…

Chuzheng felt that this so-called Millennium Ginseng was probably exaggerated to deceive consumers.

But as a spender, she had to buy into the hype.

These items, once purchased, were simply tossed aside by Chuzheng.

Chen Fei occasionally saw this and couldn’t help but be rendered speechless.

Was this Wei Country’s Hostage using the treasury of Wei Country?

As a hostage, she spent money so lavishly.

Of course, Chen Fei could only grumble inwardly.

After all, she wasn’t spending their money.

–

Lian Qiong came over from the direction of the Imperial City in the middle of the night, and Chen Fei met him at the door.

“What’s he doing?”

“At this time, the Thirteenth Prince should be reading.” Chen Fei admired Chuzheng’s regular routine; unless something special happened, her schedule was almost always the same.

“He still reads?” Lian Qiong clicked his tongue, “Hasn’t he said he wants to go out?”

“No, the Thirteenth Prince… seems quite comfortable living here.” He hadn’t mentioned leaving or going out at all.

Lian Qiong told Chen Fei not to follow him; he would go alone.

It wasn’t that he hadn’t visited these days, he just hadn’t shown himself to Chuzheng.

But the less he saw her, the more he missed her.

What could he do now that he had fallen for her?

He could only accept it.

In the Pouring Red Building, such situations were commonplace, so Lian Qiong was somewhat more open-minded than outsiders.

However…

If it really came to that point, who would be on top?

Lian Qiong felt that it must be himself.

Lian Qiong couldn’t help but curl his lips into a smirk.

–

Chuzheng wasn’t feeling well and went to bed early.

Just as she was about to fall into a deep sleep, she suddenly felt the bed dip beside her. Her instincts were on alert, but upon recognizing the familiar scent, she calmed down.

The man lay down next to her, first kissing her forehead, then with his hand he pinched her earlobe.

Chuzheng endured it.

After toying with her earlobe, he pinched her nose.

Chuzheng still endured!

After his fingers left her nose, they began to trace her lips.

Chuzheng could no longer stand it.

Little troublemaker deserves a lesson!!

“Third Prince, what are you trying to do?” Crawling into my bed in the middle of the night is one thing, but treating me like a toy? Have you eaten too much and now you’re playing around?!

“I thought you were asleep,” the man propped on his elbow said with a smile, his fingertip still resting on her lips.

Chuzheng: “…”

Little troublemaker hasn’t touched anything dirty, right?!

Disgusted, Chuzheng pulled his hand away.

“Miss me?”

he asked.

“I miss you,” the man’s voice was low, suppressing a strong wave of emotion: “What should I do now, before I only wanted you to be useful to me, but now, I want you to belong to me. Thirteenth Prince, tell me, what should I do?”

His voice was almost a whisper.

It was unclear whether he was asking Chuzheng or himself.

Before Chuzheng had a chance to respond, she heard him continue, “Didn’t you say you fancied me?”

“Hmm,” Chuzheng responded.

“So what about now? Do you want to take back that statement now?”

“Why would I take it back.” Words said are like water thrown out—I care about my face! I certainly won’t take them back!

“Good.”

Lian Qiong’s fingers suddenly landed at Chuzheng’s waist.

“The Thirteenth Prince really does have a slender waist,” Lian Qiong said with a raised head and a smile.

Though the words were frivolous, when spoken by him they seemed rather enticing.

Chuzheng: “…”

Chuzheng pushed him away: “Third Prince.”

“Hmm?” Lian Qiong raised his eyebrows, “What’s wrong?”

Lian Qiong leaned close to Chuzheng’s ear: “Don’t be afraid.”

Chuzheng: “…”

You seem to have misunderstood something.

Chuzheng couldn’t be bothered to argue with him, grabbing his hand…

Lian Qiong raised an eyebrow, sensing something soft in his hand, but he didn’t let his thoughts wander elsewhere.

Chuzheng’s hands moved behind her, and she untied the chest binder.

Suddenly, Lian Qiong felt that something was wrong under his hand.

Lian Qiong withdrew his hand in a flash, and he moved back, falling straight from the bed.

Chuzheng reached out and pulled him back.

Lian Qiong was completely dumbfounded.

“Third Prince,” Chuzheng’s voice had changed slightly, less deep and a little clearer, the feminine quality coming through strongly.

–

Lian Qiong felt he needed a moment to process.

He had mentally prepared himself that his future partner would be a man.

But now he was being struck with the revelation that his assumptions were wrong—the other person was a woman!!

“You… you’re a woman?” The anger of being deceived suddenly surged within Lian Qiong: “You tricked me!”

Chuzheng righteously defended, “Did I ever say I was a man?”

“…” Do I need to tell you? When you were sent over, you were a man, so of course everyone would think you’re a man, all right?!

In the annals of history, who has ever heard of a girl being sent as a hostage?!

“Since I never said it, then I haven’t deceived you.” I am not carrying this pot.

“You…” Lian Qiong pointed at her, anger stuck in his throat, unable to exhale or swallow it down, and unsure how to retort.

The real self in Wei Country had appeared as a man.

The reason was simple: to survive in the harem.

The mother of the original self didn’t have a powerful background. If she had a daughter, the child would have even less status and might silently perish in the harem without anyone caring.

But a prince was different.

Even if ostracized, a prince still carried royal blood, listed on the royal jade register, and no one dared to harm a prince easily, at least not if they remained ordinary and quiet, getting by somewhat better.

However, the original host’s mother had not anticipated that her child would be chosen as a hostage and be sent to Jin Country.

If she had known this day would come, who knows whether she would have done the same.

“Still coming?” Chuzheng asked him.

“…No… it’s not right,” Lian Qiong said with tearful laughter, now traumatized.

“Then sleep.” Chuzheng lay back down and pulled him back as well.
