Chapter 526: Chapter 526: Difficult to be a Hostage (21)

The mountain path was already tough to navigate, but with the heavy downpour making it wet and slippery, it became even more difficult.

Chuzheng gathered the rain cloak she had obtained from the Taoist Temple, and since there was nobody around, she did not care about her image and focused solely on walking steadily.

“Where is the person?”

[Miss, can you please be self-reliant?]

“Sure.”

Chuzheng turned around to walk back.

[…Keep going up.] The King’s Account surrendered without dignity.

Following the instructions of the King’s Account, Chuzheng walked on, but after a long time without seeing anyone, she suspected the King’s Account was taking revenge by leading her in circles.

[Miss, I’m an upstanding System, and I would never do such a thing!] The King’s Account was quite indignant: [How could you doubt me?]

“Oh, then why haven’t I arrived after walking for so long?”

[The Good Person Card was originally that far away from you!] The King’s Account said huffily.

“Oh.”

But I still suspect you’re leading me around.

[…]

The King’s Account was so angered it almost went offline.

[It’s just ahead.]

After dropping this line, the King’s Account instantly fled; it needed to have a good talk with the neighboring System.

Chuzheng turned a corner and saw a figure standing erect in the distance.

In the distance was the direction of the Imperial City, where he stood, gazing quietly.

The misty rain blurred the view, and the man’s figure seemed somewhat ethereal, exuding an indescribable loneliness and desolation.

Is there something wrong with the Good Person Card?

Coming here to get drenched in the rain.

Can it ascend to heaven?

Chuzheng wanted to crush the Good Person Card to death.

But in the end, she still stepped forward, took off the rain cloak from her body, and draped it over Lian Qiong.

“You can go back, I’d like to be alone for a while,” Lian Qiong thought it was Chen Fei and didn’t turn around. His voice was somewhat low and hard to make out in the heavy rain.

Chuzheng looked into the distance, “Are you planning to jump down or what?”

The strange yet familiar voice made Lian Qiong stiffen slightly before turning around.

Behind him was not the familiar Chen Fei.

A young gentleman stood by his side, her clothes soaked by rain, making her look even more frail.

Chuzheng was thankful for the weather being as it was, wearing thicker clothes that didn’t reveal much even when wet.

Though she wasn’t afraid of exposure, if it got out that the hostage from Wei Country was a woman, she was likely to be the one in trouble.

Right!

If trouble can be avoided, then avoid it!

A flicker of shock crossed Lian Qiong’s eyes, “Why is it you?”

“Who else did you think it was?” Chuzheng said irritably.

“…” He thought it would have been Chen Fei.

Only Chen Fei could find him so quickly.

Talking in the rain is high-class and sophisticated?

No!

It is not!

Chuzheng just felt like the two of them were idiots, soaked to the bone, unaware of their state, thinking themselves blessed with peerless beauty, believing they could do whatever they wanted—well, okay, he actually could.

Even when drenched, Lian Qiong just evoked pity rather than making one think he was in a sorry state.

“How much longer are you going to stay in the rain?” asked Chuzheng impatiently.

“There’s a shelter from the rain up ahead.” Lian Qiong’s voice was fragmented by the rain, so he simply unfolded the rain cloak, enveloping Chuzheng into his arms, “I’ll take you there.”

The rain cloak was quite large, barely enough for the two of them.

The place Lian Qiong spoke of was a protruding boulder that provided shelter underneath.

However, one could only sit.

Underneath was what seemed to be firewood stored by a Taoist from the temple. Lian Qiong compiled some and skillfully started a fire.

“Thirteenth Prince, take off your clothes and dry them by the fire,” he suggested.

“No need.”

“Aren’t you afraid of getting sick?”

“Why would I get sick?” Chuzheng replied.

Big shots like me don’t get sick just like that!

Only weaklings like you get sick!

“…” Lian Qiong chuckled, “Is the Thirteenth Prince shy?”

“Shy?” What’s that?

“Yes, otherwise why wouldn’t the Thirteenth Prince be willing to take off his clothes? If anything, I should be the one who’s worried, right? After all, you’re the one who has taken a liking to me.”

“Oh.” Chuzheng poked at the fire with a stick, showing no reaction.

Lian Qiong looked at him with suspicion, taking off his coat to hang it to dry nearby.

He sat down by the fire, a slight smile on his lips, “I had hoped to invite the Thirteenth Prince to watch the sunset, but it seems we won’t be able to today.”

What’s there to see.

Chuzheng kept a straight face, remaining silent.

The flames flickered silently in her eyes like two small, burning flames, yet they still couldn’t melt the ice and snow in the depths of her eyes, cold enough to deter any casual onlooker.

What experiences had shaped such a calm and undisturbed gaze?

Lian Qiong didn’t know.

But he was curious.

“How did you know I was on the mountain?”

“The Temple Master said so.”

Lian Qiong figured it made sense, the Temple Master must have sent someone to look for him as well, so…

“How did you find me before they did?” Chen Fei hadn’t even found him yet.

Chuzheng shamelessly claimed, “I’m awesome.”

Lian Qiong: “…”

What’s so great about finding a person?

Lian Qiong tried to make conversation for a while, but it died after just a couple of sentences.

He simply stopped talking and sat by the fire, focused on warming himself.

His underclothes were still wet, and the mountain wind blowing through felt especially cold.

Lian Qiong hugged his arms, rubbing them together.

“Ah choo…”

Chuzheng looked up as the man sniffled and then sneezed twice in succession.

“Come here.” Chuzheng spoke.

“Thirteenth Prince?” Lian Qiong rubbed his nose, “Is something the matter?”

“Come here.”

“Thirteenth Prince, I think it’s better if we don’t get too close.” Lian Qiong politely declined.

Fine!

If you won’t come to me, I’ll go to you!

You’re the Good Person Card!

You’re amazing!

Chuzheng stood up and went over, and under Lian Qiong’s puzzled gaze, she placed a hand on his shoulder and pulled him into her embrace.

Lian Qiong was surprised to find that Chuzheng was completely dry, her body warm and comfortable.

But…

Why is she hugging him!!

Lian Qiong struggled until Chuzheng changed positions; he was now lying directly in her arms.

“Don’t move.” Chuzheng pinned him down.

“Thirteenth Prince, are you taking advantage of me?”

“Aren’t you cold?”

Lian Qiong was tempted to lie and say he wasn’t cold, against his conscience.

But he couldn’t do it; he was really cold.

Lian Qiong felt conflicted, but after several minutes, he seemed to accept his situation. They were both men, what’s the big deal about a hug, it’s not like he would lose a piece of flesh.

So when Chen Fei and the others found them, what they saw was their Family Head lying asleep in Chuzheng’s arms.

Chen Fei approached quietly, “Thirteenth Prince, I’m sorry for the trouble my lord has caused.”

“Hmm.” Chuzheng nodded.

“Could you hand my lord over to me?” Chen Fei asked tentatively.

Does his lordship know he’s being held?

This is the man coveting his lordship… a man!!

Chuzheng was happy to oblige, but Lian Qiong wasn’t. The moment Chuzheng moved, Lian Qiong clung tight, an unconscious defensive response, as if something of his own was going to be taken away.

“My lord? Wake up.” Chen Fei called quietly.

Lian Qiong showed no reaction.

Chen Fei frowned, taken aback. His lordship had never slept so soundly before.

“Let’s wait for the rain to stop.” Chuzheng suggested.

Chen Fei glanced outside at the still falling rain, unsure when it would stop, and at his Family Head clinging to someone else, his feelings mixed.

What is his lordship doing!!

Could it be that he also likes men?

The more Chen Fei thought about it, the more horrified he became. His lordship’s recent behavior did seem to suggest a certain inclination…

With a heavy heart, Chen Fei went down the mountain to fetch a cape and returned, draping it over Chuzheng and Lian Qiong.
