Invincible Soul Emperor

Ye Changqing didn’t turn back but continued walking as he spoke.

”Your mother was named Bai Ruolan, and she was gentle and virtuous. She was once a genius disciple of the Huanyue Sect, a three-star sect in the Bei Yu Chaoyun Country. However, the sect master’s son, Huan Yuehua, was relentlessly pursuing her. Relying on his status, Huan Yuehua was notoriously promiscuous and had ruined the innocence of many female disciples of the Huanyue Sect. For this reason, your mother constantly rejected him.

”Later, your mother was injured during a training expedition and was rescued by me. While she recovered, we spent every day together and developed feelings for each other. In time, our affection grew into mutual love, and we eventually married.

”Then, after you were born, Huan Yuehua found us. When he learned that your mother had married and had a child, he flew into a rage. He wanted to kill you and me, and demanded the entire Ye Family be buried along with us.

”How could your mother bear it? She offered her own life in exchange. She committed suicide right in front of Huan Yuehua, and that is how she saved your life and the entire Ye Family…”

Ye Changqing’s voice choked as he spoke, as if the scenes from the past were replaying before his eyes. Ye Qingchen, however, was overcome with fury. He had never imagined that his mother had been forced to her death by the so-called young sect master of a three-star sect, all to protect him!

If he failed to avenge this grievance, he would be unworthy of being called a man!

Ye Changqing sighed and said to Ye Qingchen, ”From now on, I will enter closed-door cultivation. I will surely avenge your mother.”

Ye Qingchen nodded. Father and son walked on in silence, heading out of Qingyun Town.

Years ago, to avoid implicating the Ye Family, Bai Ruolan wasn’t buried in the Ye ancestral grave even after her death. Instead, Ye Changqing had secretly dug a grave for her on a barren hill outside of town. But because Ye Changqing had been held captive for ten years, the grave had been completely consumed by overgrown weeds by the time he returned.

Holding back tears, Ye Qingchen helped his father clear away all the wild grass. Only then did the tombstone that Ye Changqing had erected for Bai Ruolan become visible. It was small and short, with a few crooked characters carved upon it: ”Tomb of my Late Wife”!

Those four simple words struck Ye Qingchen’s heart like a thousand-pound hammer.

That Huan Yuehua drove my mother to this. Even in death, Father didn’t dare engrave her name on the tombstone, likely fearing that if Huan Yuehua saw it, it would invite more unexpected disasters. Huan Yuehua, Huanyue Sect! I, Ye Qingchen, swear we are irreconcilable enemies!

Ye Qingchen made a silent oath before his mother’s grave. That day, standing before Bai Ruolan’s grave, Ye Changqing sometimes cried, sometimes laughed, pouring out his years of longing. He pulled Ye Qingchen to the tombstone and proudly praised his son, boasting about how capable he had become.

The father and son only left the gravesite after the sun had set.

”Father, let’s erect a new tombstone for Mother tomorrow,” Ye Qingchen said somberly.

Ye Changqing shook his head and replied, ”I made a vow. After your mother is avenged, I will give her a grand and proper funeral.”

Ye Qingchen understood his father’s heartfelt intentions and silently nodded.

The next morning, Ye Qingchen bid farewell to his father and left the Ye Family. He didn’t tell his father that he was going to the Huanyue Sect, only that he needed to return to the Qingyun Sect to handle some matters. Ye Changqing had no reason to doubt him and simply reminded him to be careful on his journey. Then, he began his own closed-door cultivation.

Ye Qingchen did not return to the Qingyun Sect. Instead, he headed toward Chaoyun Country.

After a month of travel, Ye Qingchen finally set foot on the territory of Chaoyun Country. Compared to the Northern Desolate Country, Chaoyun Country was far more prosperous. Even at the country’s borders, Ye Qingchen saw many sects established, some of which were on par with the original Qingyun Sect. He understood that a country capable of nurturing a three-star sect would naturally have its own extraordinary qualities.

But what he hadn’t expected was that the Huanyue Sect was not the only three-star sect in Chaoyun Country. Soon after crossing the border, he heard news that Thunder Valley, Liang Fei’s sect, was also located within Chaoyun Country.

As Ye Qingchen traveled, he gathered information. The Huanyue Sect’s reputation was immense; it was practically a household name. It didn’t take long for him to get a general understanding of the sect. That man, Huan Yuehua, was now at the Fifth Layer of the Martial King Realm, and his combat prowess was said to be exceptionally strong. It was also rumored that the sect master of the Huanyue Sect, Huan Mingcai, had already reached the Sixth Layer of the Martial King Realm.

Furthermore, for the Huanyue Sect to have become a three-star sect, its foundation was extraordinarily powerful. There seemed to be quite a few Martial King Realm experts among them, and as for those in the Martial Spirit Realm, they were everywhere.

Ye Qingchen couldn’t help but frown. At his current level of cultivation, the three-star Huanyue Sect was not an opponent he could face head-on.

It seems that to kill Huan Yuehua, I can’t just barge in. I’ll have to use my wits.

After learning the location of the Huanyue Sect, Ye Qingchen made his way toward the city where it was based.

”Ye Qingchen.”

A slightly hurried voice called out his name.

Ye Qingchen paused, stunned. There’s someone in Chaoyun Country who knows me?

When he turned his head, he was even more astonished. The person who had stopped him was none other than Qin Yue.

Ever since they last parted at the Ye Family estate, Ye Qingchen had poured his heart out to Qin Yue, and their feelings for each other had deepened rapidly. In the quiet of the night, he often found himself missing her. He never expected that Qin Yue would also appear in Chaoyun Country.

Ye Qingchen quickly walked over to her side and asked with pleasant surprise, ”Qin Yue, what are you doing here?”

Qin Yue was also overjoyed. She had thought finding Ye Qingchen in a country as vast as Chaoyun would be next to impossible, but she had unexpectedly run into him here.

She blushed shyly and said, ”Grandfather sent me to Chaoyun Country to establish a presence for the Rising Sun Pavilion. I never thought I’d actually run into you here.”

Qin Yue must have had another reason for coming. Qin Zhantian was grooming her to be the next Pavilion Master, so he would never normally let her venture into a foreign country alone to establish a new foothold.

But since she didn’t elaborate, Ye Qingchen didn’t press the matter.

The two traveled on together, and Qin Yue seemed incredibly happy the entire way. While it was true that she had come to expand the Rising Sun Pavilion’s foundation, her main purpose was still to find Ye Qingchen. After leaving the Ye Family, she missed him day and night, but due to her maidenly reserve, she couldn’t bring herself to actively seek him out.

When the time for the Rising Sun Pavilion’s annual audit came around, Qin Yue eagerly volunteered to inspect the branch in Qingyun Town.

How could Qin Zhantian not know what his granddaughter was up to? He had laughed heartily and agreed right away.
